Seafloor spreading posits that the oceanic crust originates at the ridge crest and that the crust moves away in opposite directions on both sides. Thus, the segments of crust of equal ages must be of equal width. This does not appear to be supported by the transform fault patterns. Furthermore, the segments of crust are often curved and sometimes do not have a line of draw that would allow transform faults to move past each other in the manner described.
Thanks for the reflections. The broadly symmetrical pattern of magnetic stripes (ages of sea floor) predicted by sea floor spreading is consistent with general observations... not sure what you mean by the "transform fault patterns". @@robbutler2095 i used earphones, but thank you very much sir, i couldnt find any satisfying explanation across the internet and even in books, but your video was just amazing. Initially i thought fracture zones were the depressions running between two mid ocean ridge chains. Love from India My man, you rockstaa
Very well explained 😊
Thank you Professor !!

This feature seems no longer to e available in the RUclips editor. Suggest you turn up the playback volume while listening. It works fine for me.
