Lightsaber built from scrapyard salvage!

I wanted to have a bit of fun, so I challenged myself to see what I could build out of an afternoon of scavenging through parts at a local surplus store. I ended up with a lot of interesting bits, and after seeing what parts fit together I made myself a scrapyard lightsaber. Tucked one of the newer smooth-swing LGT Saber Studios boards inside for the lights and sound effects. I really like the beat-up look of what I ended up with, and because it's all metal it has a really satisfying heft to it. It wasn't until I was done building it that someone pointed out that the color palette was basically Boba Fett... wasn't intentional, but it's a welcome comparison.

What size/type of threads are LGT lightsabers using? I've been wanting to make some custom lightsaber parts, but i can't seem to find out the type or size. Anyone know?

Where did you get that red anodized switch/port cover plate? Looks like it was specifically designed for a lightsaber. Let me know. Thanks!!

The cover plate was something I modeled up and 3D printed. You can grab the model for free here if you have access to a printer!

The 'red anodized' look is because I made a mold and cold-cast the printed part in aluminum, then sprayed it Dupli-Color Metalcast Red. You can read more about the process here:
