I've been making these for a week. I'm using them as scatter centerpieces on the tables for our guilds Spring Banquet, which is on Thursday. As the program/education director it falls to me to plan this event and as someone that lived on Whidbey Island, WA and in Seattle , I thought it would be lovely to share the flowers of the Skagit Valley with my Illinois quilting sisters. Thanks for this wonderful pattern. It's elegant in its simplicity, just like the live tulip.

We call seam ripping "frog stitching". Rip it, rip it... :) super cute! I've made the fabric chain and going to try the stars soon, and maybe this right after that. I used the fabric chain to decorate our hay bale this fall and we've gotten lots of compliments on it!

Bummer! Mine turned out really limp. My husband was teasing that I’d made dead flowers. 😝😝 Stuffing the stems took me forever. I’ve had success with other Shabby Fabric tutorials so I’m off to try the tablet cover.

  • @trudythomas5036

maybe if you put the wire in the stem, you can bend it to arrange in vase, also if you use thin wire in leaf it would hold up better on the stem. a pair of tweeters would work to bring it thru the bottom

It's a square usually 2 layer cakes 10x10 with wadding. Make a mat ie quilt top and wadding together add back stitch around and turn through. fold at points and stitch. you can stitch the pieces together first then quilt either way works.

Why do you choose to do so many things off camera? It’s a RUclips video. If I don’t want to watch a certain part just a simple double tap takes me to the section I need. There are so many steps as a beginner sewer that I would have loved to see but needed to figure out on my own. I used interfacing on the leaves so they stayed in place. Worked so well! I also tucked the leaf before I sewed it so I didn’t have to struggle with it like you did and it looks much cleaner. I noticed that some of your completed flowers were a little floppy so I put dowels in the stems through the flower to keep them upright. It would have been nice to see you actually stitch the flowers on the machine and more tips about the hand stitching. When you say “to save time” does that mean your own time? Because we can just skip to where we need. Thanks for the idea.
