A campaign challenge... I think a speed limit would be interesting, like, you can't go above let's say 60 MPH. Maybe one where you can't change the car, once you place a block down, you can't move it. And a stupid one, only moving around using a vehicle, no walking or flying, just car.
to protect the car a bit as well might help to just have a big ass roller in the front like a steamroller to prevent the destructible stuff from getting under the car and messing up the engine
With the new parts, I think this is a possible challenge: make a realistic steam train (piston powered wheels, side rods, direction changes using Johnson linkage)
Honestly I kind of want to see Reid make a combine harvester. It seems complex enough but also fun to mow through a bunch of enemies. Also he could possibly use more parts he typically doesn’t use
Make a car with everything, transmission, non funky suspension, good power, nice body work and of course, air conditions 🤣 keep up the uploads looks amazing
I've done that in scrap mechanic... minus the air conditioning, I'd need liquid to gas to liquid physics... I don't think solidworks could even do that :D
He just need to resize a lot of his stuff, engines, planles, HIS ENTIRELY BUILD. We just need it to be more compact and actually get to a reasonable scale like something around 5:1 meters, also use so things that is provided in the game like rockets, etc.
ah yes, Steam engines at some point DO want to build Actual Train replicas using steam engines, particularly using the Railroad mod EDIT PS: also this is one of the earliest I've ever been to a video...neat
Reid I think it would be amazing if you could make an engine powered car in TOTK. There have been many videos of engines being made and I wonder how you would transfer that into power/rotation for the wheels in this game.
I think the unstability is coming from the fact that the steam jets are applying force to the entier car not just to the pistons. Having the pistons in an X or H shape would mean the forces cancel each other out while still spinning the engine.
love all of your besiege videos, and all of your videos in general, especially for your creativity and devotion to these absurd engineering projects. I see a lot of potential in the stuff of this new update and hope to see you continuing to experiment with it and incorporate it into builds
This engine looks absolutely awesome, I love it Also, have you ever made a Torsen differential? From what I remeber, they have the advantage of being able to power one wheel if the other is slipping or on the air
I would really like to see you make a bicycle in besiege. I’ve been trying for a little bit and my main problem has been overall strength of the building. My turning is a little jank as well, but strength is really struggling. It took me a while to make wheels that were strong enough to support the build and ended up making them out of the wood panel things after modeling a wheel on the ground out of normal wood blocks. Awesome video, amazing job
This has serious monster truck vibes with the way the steam shoots out. I’d love to see you experiment with an exhaust system, even if that was just “hide/capture the engine steam at one end and put a decorational steam emitter at the other end”
You can do a proper forklift (with all fork and mast movements). I don't know, if it's possible in Besiege, but if not, maybe in some other game? Also I love, how this truck looks with steam bursting from the sides
You should do a video, beating the whole campaign or an island with just automation, using different gates and such Maybe even making a machine that completes multiple scenarios on its own
You should make a gyrocopter. I don't know if besiege would actually apply the physics like in reality, but worst case scenario you turn it into a horizontally propelled helicopter.
One thing that you forgot was a flywheel because that engine is just pure power and the torque would destroy the engine, so you need a flywheel so it doesn’t rip itself apart
I think if you make a fully moded engine in Besiege, I mean like scaling them down and using flying blocks as power source, you can have a fairly powerful engine.
Here's a suggestions on a better engine. This knowledge of mine came from a different game but I'm sure both games behave similarly. Try to make a Inline 6 instead of a V8. A V8 will rotate the car but a Inline 6 will not. I found that the Inline 6 is faster and is very balance (if built properly). The engine you made is (I think) 2 stoke, 1 stoke is power and the other is not. That's why have 2 steam cannons facing away from each other so instead of this No Power. Power Stoke up Stroke down You get this Power. Power Stroke up. Stroke down Also if you only have 1 stoke power stoke, the steam cannons will push down the car which will put more stress on the car. And when building the Inline 6 be sure to follow the Real life version of the Inline 6. Copy the Firing order and Crankshaft configuration. Tho a V8 will have more power, i dont think it will perform better than the Inline 6 But hey all of this is just my Theory *A GAME THEORY* Edit: I Google searched if a V12 is as balance as an Inline6.
I feel like whenever Reid says he's going to do some math he means i'm just casually going to do advanced algebra. (I know i'm exaggerating but still.)
besiege idea: drift car you could theoretically make a light weight drift car that has a lot of power in the back, low weight distribution and wider wheels. -> also a besiege drift car with a similar v motor could be possible with more power ( more canons) for each piston. front steering is what would be needet. and you dont need to drift it like formuladrift, rather spinning tires and testing car physics of each newton law. i would love to see that being built in besiege :DDDD PS: thanks for your entertainment productions as videos :D
All of this is the reason why trains ruled the 1800's and it took until the turn of the century for cars to become a thing at all. When you take the steam powered pistons that move a body with mechanical force and try to make that as small as a carriage/wagon it doesn't work anymore because the parts can only be so strong and at a certain scale wind up tearing themselves apart and exploding or simply losing all sense of pressure and breaking down, and then even when everything's perfect you still have to constantly top it off with water and smoking polluting fuel like wood or coal like a train except way more often being a smaller package. The only way cars could ever work is if they were moved electrically with motors powered by a rechargeable battery that was charged by a dynamo that was spun by pistons that were propelled by an entirely different and unique fuel. Vehicles flipping out like that over a speed bump was also a problem irl because of how centrifugal force works and took a bit of more parts and overall weight to make sure that didn't happen. Except for helicopters where you need a tail rotor to literally force the body to not spin around. I love how the world of engineering is where physics makes you their bitch because you don't have the parts you need and you spend many hours and days of trial and error to get something that just barely works, lmao Loved this video, more large scale engineering please
Perhaps, I tried to do a campaign challenge but it was honestly just not that interesting. If I get a good idea though I do want to check it out for a video
hey, I really enjoy your content on overengineering games to create cool machines n stuff. would you be interested in playing Tears of the Kingdom sometime? it's introduced a new building mechanic that lets you make physics-based vehicles. there's nothing too complex about it since well... the game's an RPG, but I'd be interested to see you apply your engineering prowess in it
How would you guys feel about a Trailmakers campaign challenge? What rulesets could make that interesting?
i would like to see you do somethings in totk i think you would be better with the ultrahand then i am. but trailmakers is cool too
A challenge where you need to make a car with no wheels might be cool i think

sounds really cool
if you die, you restart
One thing you absolutely NEED to start doing in these builds is making the wheels wider. Those things are thinner than bicycle wheels
True lmao
to protect the car a bit as well might help to just have a big ass roller in the front like a steamroller to prevent the destructible stuff from getting under the car and messing up the engine

I feel like I always hear "Im gonna need a strong engine here" in every single video
Well we certainly wouldn't want a weak engine ;)
@@ReidCaptain I guess your right there
Now that I think about it ur right,
It's just this man's mission to create a new type of engine in ever video now,
What the engine it's for, is just the side qwest

With the new parts, I think this is a possible challenge: make a realistic steam train (piston powered wheels, side rods, direction changes using Johnson linkage)
That would be dope. I watched a youtube channel years ago called 'Besiege This!' who only did train builds in besiege and it was pretty cool.
Oh with a bogie would be really cool.
Honestly I kind of want to see Reid make a combine harvester. It seems complex enough but also fun to mow through a bunch of enemies. Also he could possibly use more parts he typically doesn’t use
I love how every time the car failed it failed somewhat realistically. Like, an engine CAN blow up and the axles CAN break if you load them too hard.
Make a car with everything, transmission, non funky suspension, good power, nice body work and of course, air conditions 🤣 keep up the uploads looks amazing
Careful, he might actually end up doing it
Oh god, he's gonna have to make a whole car then a compressor. Somehow have pipes and a fluid. He's going to need some serious mods.
I've done that in scrap mechanic... minus the air conditioning, I'd need liquid to gas to liquid physics... I don't think solidworks could even do that :D

I always love to see you doing complex stuff in Besiege, as in every game too. Even if i don't completely understand it
You should make a combustion engine with explosive cannonballs and infinite ammo
I made a cannon powered plane a while back like that

This is art. Great job. I am fascinated.
You should make someting like the ADATS and launch some missiles (like the AGM-65) out of it in Plasma!
AGM-65 is an air to ground missile i know
Thanks for your content, they really chill me out.
your besiege videos are the highlight of my week keep it up

Besiege just released on xbox gamepass and it’s awesome! I can finally do the stuff you do now in these videos
Your perseverance to solve issues is unmatched 🙌

If this is realistic this just taught me how car engines work
Adding a massive flywheel to the engine would help a lot with the stability
Wow! That was awesome 🤯❤
Very cool
This dude never doesn’t amaze
Hey enjoy your videos a lot. Do you think you'd try out tears of the kingdom to build crazy stuff? Feels like thered be a lot of potential there
with the nobounds mod you can set the spring on a suspension block to 0 effectively making it a better slider
you should try to make a compact formula car, like as small as possible, while being as fast as possible, with an engine and all that.
You where this close to make a fully working diff. At this point you could almost design a real car haha
With a new update you should try remaking some of your old machines, you can definitely make them a bit better/nicer
You should do a video, beating the whole campaign or an island with just automation, using different gates and such
Maybe even making a machine that completes multiple scenarios on its own
I like how the lenght detectors are basically cam and crank position sensors
Gorgeous
it would be sick to see a puller prop bi-plane powered by a v engine or maybe even a flat 6 cyl
Reid Captain is the only person to combine video games and calculus. 🤣🤣
You should make a gyrocopter. I don't know if besiege would actually apply the physics like in reality, but worst case scenario you turn it into a horizontally propelled helicopter.
For support you could attach a hinge to the steering block and move it in 0.5 instead of having that whole assembly
How do I always watch these videos right before I go to sleep
One thing that you forgot was a flywheel because that engine is just pure power and the torque would destroy the engine, so you need a flywheel so it doesn’t rip itself apart

what a good video😊
Me getting ready for him to say:so we put down a half pipe
If you try a V engine again, it will run a lot smoother if the pistons are at 45° or 135° to each other.
(Or both in case of an X engine)
Reid Captain challenge, take a shot every time he says "you can see"
I feel like whenever Reid says he's going to do some math he means i'm just casually going to do advanced algebra. (I know i'm exaggerating but still.)
you could also use the enhancement mod so that you dont need any fire source if you have a flammable engine
besiege idea: drift car

You should make an F-35 with the VTOL capability. It would be a good challenge for you.
you must build a lifted dodge ram truck with blinding white LED headlights at eye level, capable of tailgating other vehicles with ease
that is a pretty small crank shaft for that stroke lenght
my man made a v16 truck
Cool.
With the new parts you could retry making a piston powered engine for a plane that doesn't use very extended propellers

Yes! I finally came early, this will be great for the last video before i sleep
You should revisit building a bomber by building a b36 with 6 28 cylinder radials
You could remake some older creations with the new blocks if your run out of besiege ideas
