Completely new for me this band. Heard a lot about them , and Babymetal are an obvious comparison , but my word What a talented bunch they are !! and that crowd certainly know how to enjoy themselves. That's what we're all here for right !! 😍
Absolutely amazing band!!! 5 Queens in the same band, makes this band the best band in the world!!!By far!!! And I think Kanami not from Japan, I think she is from another planet!!!!
Saiki and Miku sing: "Welcome to my home." This concert at Zep is a must in their career. Sound, lightshow, voices and instuments are amazing. Live is their élément. So great.
It recently occurred to me that Band Maid is a progressive instrumental band that adds vocals to their compositions. The 'Unseen World Scorebook' instrumental CD is a prime example.
I agree. I've followed music since 1964 and lived through the original prog period-1968-74. A lot of Band-Maid music can only be described as prog which unfortunately these days has bad connotations in music from when a number of musically poor bands tried the imitate the originals post late 70s-80s. I'm pleased to say the now there a lot new young and original bands producing great progressive music.
I know you cover a lot of Yes and you may have noticed I've liked quite a few of your reactions on them. I have to say that Band Maid has excited me the most since I discovered Yes way back in the very early seventies. They are truly an amazing band. The only thing I keep waiting for from them is an epic length piece which will probably never happen but if they ever went into at least the ten minute range of music like this I'd be in total ecstasy. They're just an incredible group of musicians and I can truthfully say I've never paid any attention at all to the maid costumes. I just hear the music and watch their live performances and break out into a big smile. Keep spreading the word about them and continue reeducating RUclips about Yes.
I'm totally, totally with you. I dream of a maiden 2112 or Supper's Ready... (obviously nowhere near their style but that kind of long, creative work/masterpiece)
I have a huge amount of prog and if you listen to enough Band Maid they definitely have certain songs that could fit into the prog category. I know they're basically groove rock but things like NO GOD and BLACK HOLE go into a whole other spectrum. Their instrumentals can get really proggy sounding too, I'm thinking specifically of WITHOUT HOLDING BACK or FROM NOW ON neither of which I ever get tired of listening to.@@Kevin6059
Supposedly Saiki really dislikes long songs. At least that’s what I think I heard. But that wouldn’t stop them from coming up with a long instrumental, like their own La Villa Strangiato!
Anyone who doesn't fall in love with the Maids from watching just this segment of ZEPP doesn't have a RnR bone their body. They always inspire me! Thx, Lee!
This is the point when seeing them live: you are literally overwhelmed by how musically tight and vuisually charming they are and you are eventually left missing when it is over. This is the Band-Maid syndrome affecting many people who have seen them live: feeling like being depressed by the fact it is ending and feeling yourself immediately craving for more.
The other concert that might even be slightly better than ZEPP is the 2017 Shinkiba Studio Coast concert. Love to see you do a full react on that one, Lee 🤘😆
I agree 💯% that the Studio Coast is a little bit better. The version of Moratorium in that concert is the best one there is. I wish they could release the WHOLE concert on blu-ray/DVD some day.
@@kent-oveprestberg3578 I'm thinking that it's an unlucrative licensing deal because they should see the marketing advantage of releasing both concerts to either BD/DVD, or better yet, YT!
Great reaction this concert video has the best mix I've ever heard, all instruments are crystal clear. The other one, Studio Coast, is pretty close but harder to find.
And if you want your mind blown further... 🤯 do your full coverage on their 2020 Shibuya concert, Lee. 🤘😆 PS - Their xmas concert is fantastic. Can't wait to see you react that one! 🎀🎄🎀
My favourite version is from summer 2019 on their European Tour with the MISA - Kanami tapping-intro. Fortunately, there are really good fancams out there.
Many countries that embraced rock on a relatively wholesale level temporally later than it became the "standard of measure" in countries like the UK, America and Germany have mastered the form and standards of the medium, but almost all of the current crop of Japanese bands have also embraced (and fully understand) the essential Soul and Spirit of all forms of Rock.
I was fortunate enough to be on the rail in Houston 22 in front of MISA when they played ONSET and FROM NOW ON back to back...INCREDIBLE!!! Miku handed me a pick too.
Back when I first saw them live back in 2018, I got 28 songs (including almost all of the songs from their catalog that I really wanted to hear), good enough volume to hit the permanent-hearing-loss meter many times, and met all of the Ladies at the meet-and-greet. Like the first drink of the evening, the subsequent "guzzles" never have quite the same magic as the first one, but -- as with any fine whiskey -- all of the subsequent "drinks" are inevitably worth the "cost of admission" many times over. (Yeah, that's a bit of a strained analogy, but what do you want at 3:17AM?).
Well different genre and musical level is a matter of subjectivity but thay are very talented. Seriously though some great female Japanese bands...Band Maid, Lovebites Nemo, Hanabie, Gach Spin etc, etc, etc. And none of them sound the same.
Best liveband ever and I’ve seen all the big ones…Band-Maid sets the bar. Phenomenal band 🔥❤️

She has the supernatural ability to communicate with aliens 😂
Secret My Lips LIVE is something else! And I never noticed Miku-chan's vocals in it that much. Now... wow!
Saiki and Miku sing: "Welcome to my home." This concert at Zep is a must in their career. Sound, lightshow, voices and instuments are amazing. Live is their élément. So great.
The last song was Alone , the first song that their label accepted , after 3 years of Kanami sending in songs . and getting them rejected .
BAND-MAID IS THE TRUTH! ❤
Song 2 Secret My Lips. One of 40 in my top 5
Amazing track 😊
You're as good at math as Akane 😂. And I agree though!
Wow, you've done pretty well narrowing down your top 5 to just 40! I'm still in the high 60's.
@realdocloco thanks to my wife and her doctorate in elementary mathematics😁

Agree. I thought something similar when the UW instrumental CD came out. I was amazed at how well the songs worked instrumentally.

It may never get that epic but I do think a 7-8 minute song is not outside of the realm of possibility.
@@user-tf2wd1eh3g Agree. I know they're not going to do anything 20 minutes long. I can dream though.

If you want to see fans even wilder? Check out the fan cams from their show in Mexico. Saiki didn’t even have to sing most of “Don’t you tell ME”
Yep. Mexico wins the craziest fans award and we were pretty loud in their one man shows here the US.
When you are in the crowd at a Band-Maid show, you can't help but to participate!

Yes! More maids!! And my fave show too! Feelin' down? This'll fix ya!

Take a deep breath before watching the finale of this concert.
The mix on this one is SO GOOD! You can really hear Miku and Kanami left and right , and MISA and Akane are so clear right up the middle

MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃
Kanami is in the vein of Page, Vai, Satriani... she's a one in a million guitarist.
That 5 string Misa plays adds to the bass line.
Great job brother you rocks
As much as i love this band that singer ....saiki is Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤

It's not that long ago but this concert is already legendary!
Setlist wise, musically, probably their best setlist. I do find that metal/speed has come to the detriment of musicality/melody in their music.
You just brightened my day...
Thanks for the reaction, waiting for the next part
Seriously you can't. (beat this)
Hey Lee thanks for doing the lives like this. Peace buddy
Lee, if you like these check out the "Lovebites". Similar concept with japanese female "girls" on another musical level ;-)

Yes and no. They know theyre instruments but the music flat the same the same the same. But, I got curious.
