  • Indiana Jones is one of my favorite heroes of all time. I was so intrinsically interested in ancient history and the exploration of the world because of these movies, tv shows, video games, and novels.
    Since the stories we consume have a strong impact on the identity we have, I wanted to talk to you about some of the lessons this professor of archeology can teach us.
    Also, my own Indiana Jones-style book, Legend of Yamashita's Treasure, is now remastered and ready to buy on Amazon as an ebook AND NOW PAPERBACK!

    Well done young man. I'm 57 years old and been an admirer of Indiana Jones, and what he stands for, since I was 15 years old in the summer of 1981. You have learned much in your young life...more than I. Continue to educate yourself and never stop learning about the world around us. Your own personal adventure in life... will be remarkable. Be well and Good luck !

    Hey man, happened across your video. Good character analysis. As a child of the 80s these movies were very influential to me, specifically the line in raiders describing him as a man of many talents. I took it to heart and tried my best to have a life well lived. You inspired me, I might make a video regarding this myself

    Not cut out for the quotidian life of an academic does not entail that he is actually not so good at archaeology, but yes, his extra-curricular activities do seem to cut across the values and aspirations of the field. Harrison Ford himself said, on the set of Raiders, Indiana Jones is a grave robber.
    Anyway, his adventures require more MMA than archaeology. It's a wonder he was not coach of the university boxing club.

    The idea that Indy’s character is more in the vain of an Arthurian knight is neat.
    I wonder if that’s what Henry Jones Sr. Was impressed by in Last Crusade, when Indy snapped off the flag pole and used it to joust a Nazi like a knight on horseback

    I built a nationwide company and while now i’m retired, when I was building the company and hiring people I never asked about their qualifications. I would just interview them and fill them out and then decide if I was going to give them a chance because I wouldn’t trust a college graduate to hold a bag of potatoes before they have proven some actual skills.

    I've never thought of Indiana Jones as a role model, rather Indiana Jones is a tool used by satirical action and adventure movies to criticize the clichés and tropes of older action and adventure movies and the character does what it's supposed to, which is to entertain the movie audience.

    Well it is true that Dr Henry Jones Jr, which is the actual name of Indiana Jones, has a very well directed moral compass when it comes to help others but at the same time he has no problem looting archeological artifacts.
    In the first movie he was taking that golden idol and when Rene Emile Belloq stole it from him Indi says.
    "That idol belongs in a museum" who gave him the right of taking some idol which is sacred for the indigenous people of the area and place it in a museum? He's stealing part of their cultural inheritance.

      I think Indy stands out because he’s really incredibly selfish while trying to do the right thing at the same time. It’s relatable. As Humans, we generally do try to look out for other people but we also want to obtain the things we care about no matter what

    Also we would need to consider that Dr Jones, when he was like 25 had a romantic relationship, and probably more, with a 15 year old Marion...Ewww.
    And Dr Jones has no problem having a 12 year old sidekick "Short Round" with him in his very dangerous adventures.

  • @oscarf5433
    @oscarf5433 Год назад +1

    And let's not forget Indiana's constant association with criminals like those two goons who were helping him at the start of Riders of the Lost Ark or Lao Che who tried to poison him in Shanghai.

    Sorry but Europeans in the 1900's were very integrated, familiar, and friendly with foreign cultures. You think 100 thousand Brits could rule India, with a population at the time of 400 million, without cultural understanding and native acquiescence? The Europeans of the colonial period were far more knowledgeable of far off cultures than the Instagram version of visiting Bangkok today. Don't be so quick to judge the past...the youth of today are as concerned about skin color as the KKK was in the 1920's. It's disturbing.

      @dboygamer8184 10 месяцев назад

      Dont take that last sentence outta context. The KKK are still out wanting to commit genocide against minoritiea. We are thriving society to help protect them and their willing to live peacefully.
