I wish that is would’ve been Darcy’s (the blind sister) spirit moving into Mr oddity to kill the husband rather than the bellhop ghost, as revenge for killing her sister.
the husband was merely too evil and pragmatic of a monster to do that. if it was left alive I'm sure it would eventually have had another burst of life from The Blind Ones spirit much like how the Wife possessed the camera (and saved the new girl) the Blind One Most likely would have inhabited Mr Oddity given some time for her spirit to transition. As when it first moved that was her using her life essence instead of spirit residual energy (spooky mumbo jumbo I know but that's how haunted objects are usually described, something that takes time to build energy after someone does a traumatic death their personal belongings gain more energy. This is likely the same thing The Blind One reads and how she "sees" events in the past by "tasting/sensing" the residual energy in the personal belongings, + she's a witch and witches often become powerful ghosts due to rituals like the belongings being placed in Mr Odditys head.) But the husband exercised the demonic statue through holy flame, but God/Fate in tandem with the Devil/Blind Witch sent another object over which could ONLY kill him if he chooses to be egotistical and disrespect/be in denial of the supernatural forces that 100% want him dead. He COULD have just thrown the bell away and in that way admitted he does partially believe in his sister's families supernatural beliefs but even after her death, her being a ghost, the sister clearly demonstrating forbidden knowledge (knowledge that couldn't/ can't be known), and his cohort being murdered by a supernatural ritual, he STILL was too egotistical to admit her beliefs are Valid or should at least be partially respected (also demonstrated by him burning the Blind sisters spiritual belongings and thusly the personal items containing her very essence within the statue) so due to that final act of egotism THAT active and "sinful" choice killed him due to his own hubris. Karma in the most direct form, Karma you actively chose to invoke instead of simply playing it safe (especially saying he's willing to burn personal items and kill loose ends but isn't willing to simply NOT do the one miniscule action he was told will kill him due to his ego regarding the supernatural beliefs of his wifes family) plus ➕ Shocovs gun is always fun in movies and it's nice to wrap back to the beginning with some seemingly small thing becoming the big finally after you 100% wrote it off as unimportant. Mr.oddity came in half way and thus doesn't carry the same narrative weight of karma and having your death feel certain since the start especially when rewatching the movie.
oh yeah and also his new wife claiming to see his murdered wifes ghost also failed to make him respect/believe the supernatural ontop of everything else I listed.

Mr Oddity is basically a golem. A person shaped doll or statue who has the name of the people he is to serve/protect (in this case, the hair/blood/images of the person) placed within
It’s interesting that there’s an occurring theme of the errors people can make just by judging on appearances. It's so multilayered too. Dani and Darcy judging Olin, Yanna judging Darcy, even the Doll and the Audience. The whole thing with eyes too.
I think Darcy knew she was going to die, which is why she had to psych herself up to answer the phone and did so at a run. I feel that somehow her death was necessary to fully activate the wooden statue, and she was hoping she wouldn't have to resort to it.
Hope so otherwise she’s really really dumb. The way he handled phone would make any person in existence suspicious. Not handing her phone is illogical AF even without knowing he offed sister

@@flacohernandez4380 well it certainly isn't the best horror movie of the year like "when evil lurks" was for 2023, but it's up there for sure. Did you see anything you liked this year or do you not know where to look?
Thanks for this video! I loved this movie, but was confused as to when Darci knew certain things and did certain things. The best I can tell it went like this: Darci thought Olin killed her sister and sent the Oddity to kill him. She then receives Olin's eye, touches it, and learns that it was actually Ivan and Ted behind the murder (since Olin had overheard them plotting, hence why he was at the house that night). Darci then realizes she needs to get revenge on Ivan and Ted. After Ted stops in to the shop, she comes up with her plan and sends the haunted hotel bell as insurance in case things don't go as planned. She shows up at the house, Ghost Dani scars off Yanna, and Darci is killed before exacting her revenge. However, Ted takes care of Ivan, and the bellhop will take care of Ted. My favorite part of all this, is that Darci KNOWS Ted is just the type of asshole who HAS to ding the bell to prove he's right.
2:41 exchanging I love you's - Wrong! I was watching it and she said I love you and he replied- love you, at that point I was like oooh he is cheating isn't he
right? after he visited darcy at her shop i paused the movie and said “okay my theory is the husband sent someone to kill the wife since he knew she’d be there by herself and the way he said “love you” sounded so disingenuous, and they want us to think it was the glass eye man
It's pretty obvious that he's the villain when he said, "I'm okay with being the villain," right at the beginning. I don't mind it at all when a story reveals its hand like that as long as the payoff is good.
If you're disappointed by the ending because Darcy (the blind twin) died, remember that she used the wooden man to mistakenly murder Olin (the crazy guy that warned Dani) before she knew it was Ivan, the orderly sent by Ted. Kharma came to collect on her sins.
I think she killed herself because she knew what she did, it feels like everything she did was pretty deliberate. I think she knew the hole in the floor was there that’s why she took off running into it after hesitating for a while
Man, I love FoundFlix's delivery in general, but the way he says "that's goOOD!" after the part about the curses being lifted on purchase really got me.
When Dani got into her tent and was shuffling through the pics in her camera to eventually come across the pic showing the intruder in her house, I got chills. Both she and I immediately knew she was done for at that point. I also thought that the movie was good overall, but I thought the fact that Dani had misplaced her phone when Olin came to her house to warn her of the intruder was a bit weak. I mean any woman who is in a big house in a remote area, alone while her hubby is working late at night, is gonna make sure she has her phone near her at all times. Besides she was in an area where it was hard to pick up a signal, except for that one spot in the house when she spoke to her hubby and sister earlier. It would have been a more plausible story for her to have had her phone but was unable to find reception in the place to call the cops. Also, I wonder whose tooth that was in the wooden man's head.
When she says Dani “hoped to open (he opens the skullcap of the skull on display in her shop) that closed (he replaces the skullcap) mind of [his]”, that was a cool detail.
I thought the movie did well with scaring the hell out of me, but i hated the ending. I also predicted the husband was behind the whole thing about 15 min in.
Darcy walked into the trap on purpose. We know she is not stupid, and she also mentioned that she has to pay for what she did to Ollie. I think that is why we see her hesitate the first time the phone rings. She knows that he has set a trap for her and that she is likely going to her death, but she is willing to do it because she knows Ollie was innocent and there is no real way for her to overcome both he and Ivan. She knew this whole plan would lead to her death which is why the reception bell is delivered to him after her death. She was betting that he would probably find a way to get away with what happened but knows his pride would get the better of him and that he would ring the bell and remain cursed the rest of his life. Great movie!!
Awesome video!! Would you consider doing one on Over the Garden Wall? It’s not as gory or scary as most of the things you talk about, but it’s a child-friendly spooky delight and I want to know how you feel about the antagonist. It’s also its 10 year anniversary this year!!
I think Darcy was sick again and that she knew that the trap door was open. Which is why she hesitated for so long. She had the gift of "other sight" so I fully think she would know. I just think she didn't want to live after having the wrong man killed ans not having her sister (ans maybe being sick again). She could die knowing that the right people would pay for their crimes.

@@ngannguyen4170 nope, searched for it after I watched the movie and again just now. Unless the RUclips search is completely messing up (which I wouldn’t put past it) it’s not there :(
He had recap of this movie, IIRC, but anyway it's based on a book where everything is very different and detailed, you should read it, it's a bit of a slog, but creepy atmosphere is well done.
The doll is a golem. It’s to protect the person it’s connected to. It also can be used to take revenge. It follows the will of whoever is in possession of it
I'm sure someone else already mentioned it but the cymbal banging monkey toy is from the film Merlin's Mystical Shop of Wonders, a movie that was famously riffed by the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew. It, too, is a cursed object that kills whatever living creatures are near it without regard: children, dogs, fish, your houseplants. That was fun to spot.
As I often do, I turned this off after one minute because the intro was so good that I want to watch the movie first before I come back to this video...
The scariest 'doll moving' thing I've seen done well is Hell House LLC, where you don't see the figures moving, you just see that they've moved, and they're now looking at you. *shivers*
I knew I would probably enjoy Oddity but I enjoyed it more then I thought. I love the production of the creepy house and wooden man in it. The creepiest film I have seen this year. V/H/S Beyond is the scariest I have seen this year it was incredible, but Oddity just has that simple creepiness that works just so well.
Oddity was pure nightmare fuel 😳💀 From the eerie soundtrack to those unsettling close-ups… like, why did every scene make me feel like something was watching me? 👀 And don’t even get me started on that twist at the end 😱 This movie crawled under my skin and stayed there. Definitely not sleeping with the lights off anytime soon! 😬🕯️
I think the lady wasn't sleeping at all but tethering her soul to the doll when she sat at the table... it got interrupted when personal items were removed from the doll's head... the movie could've been amazing if she put her sister's soul in the doll instead and have a guardian from beyond to stop her from falling to her death... come to think of it, her sister could've warned her even without the doll but only saved the unfaithful husband's mistress... it's almost like she only came to die... such a waste, she could've used her powers in a better way... especially since her first plan didn't work, honestly I'm not even sure if the second plan worked either... we had two situations where things didn't go the way we expected... like the opening of the door in the beginning, and the effectiveness of the doll... I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel worker's ghost failed at the end
Ending could’ve been a little better. I was hoping he got cocky at the end and spammed the bell supercharging the bellboy’s rage and we got to see a brutal finisher move. But best horror movie I’ve seen in a while nonetheless
to think, the main guy is so OP; he absolutely knows about supernatural and curses (from small details and logical deduction, imho), yet displays complete innocence while outsmarting everyone without a slight remorse or fear. I feel like he rings the bell just for fun and for some company...
If she can have visions of dead ppl by touching an item that was close to them .. why not touched one of her deceased sister’s items to know who killed her? Her wedding ring, her jeans idk 🤷🏻♀️
Have you ever heard of a golem? They often are made of clay, but this one is made of wood. See any monster manual version of dungeons & dragons for details.
I liked the way the film was slightly connected to Caveat 2020. It didn't have full on cameos, but the rabbit at the start and the screeching of the foxes whenever the supernatural about was a good nod.
Bruh after all that, the unfaithful husband who masterminded his wifes murder didnt get taken out by Mr. Oddity or exposed lile Darcy wanted? Seems like a disconnected and potentially rewritten ending.
It’s literally implied at the end that he dies. That’s why he received the bell. Darcy knew he couldn’t help himself. I mean we see the fucking bellboy standing there lmao. You think the two of them just became best buddies? Despite the fact that Darcy literally tells us that the last two people to ring it died???
@@TheSCPStudio seems more effective than a wooden golem (which I assumed was her trying to catch her sisters ghost or something) - i mean its basically an assured death, with no witnesses. Maybe if you tip him or something, he goes away ☺
I liked the movie but wasnt of fan of ending with bell keeper. Thought should have done more with the dead wife ghost. Ahe was the creepiest part of the movie
If Darcy killed Olin with Mr Oddity, and yet as many claim she was required to die to activate him fully and that’s why she ran into the trap door like she knew it would kill her, then she couldn’t have killed Olin the same way (unless she died twice, lol). So either she didn’t need to die to activate the golem, which makes sense since he was already moving a bit, OR, she didn’t kill Olin. Which is reasonable since the husband or Ivan both could’ve done it no problem. But then she would have to have gotten the eye somehow despite not having killed the guy. OR she killed Olin but not with the golem, which I could also see since she has a bunch of other haunted stuff in her shop to use. I wish this was a little clearer.

Karma in the most direct form, Karma you actively chose to invoke instead of simply playing it safe (especially saying he's willing to burn personal items and kill loose ends but isn't willing to simply NOT do the one miniscule action he was told will kill him due to his ego regarding the supernatural beliefs of his wifes family)
plus ➕ Shocovs gun is always fun in movies and it's nice to wrap back to the beginning with some seemingly small thing becoming the big finally after you 100% wrote it off as unimportant.
@@kingramon437 thank you! I watched it 3 times and I was quite confused, I know that they were doing repairs on the house hence the tent. But it was odd that the husband didn’t believe the girlfriend at all! Even with proof he was like nahhhh
he was undone by his disbelief in the supernatural, it totally connect the plot from the beginning of the film to the end. It's better it ended this way because he could've gotten away with it all, but his dismissiveness of Darcy's connection to the spirit world comes back for him in the end.
@@ataridc I 100% agree with you! I think that the wife and Darcy’s ghost would come back and get him
Mr Oddity is basically a golem.
I really like Darci bringing the Wooden man with her and being so calm even though she knew there was a possibility she could die there
I think Darcy knew she was going to die, which is why she had to psych herself up to answer the phone and did so at a run.

I love when Mr Oddity showed up and said "its oddity time" and odditied all over
2:41 exchanging I love you's - Wrong!
@@nathanwilliams3877 and it was good, you really didn’t know if it was him for sure until the reveal
If you're disappointed by the ending because Darcy (the blind twin) died, remember that she used the wooden man to mistakenly murder Olin (the crazy guy that warned Dani) before she knew it was Ivan, the orderly sent by Ted. Kharma came to collect on her sins.
can't say she didn't see that one coming!
I just thought that Mr Oddity required a payment in kind for his services.
And in a very violent way
I think she killed herself because she knew what she did, it feels like everything she did was pretty deliberate. I think she knew the hole in the floor was there that’s why she took off running into it after hesitating for a while

That "Bummer!" edit was a funny touch. I liked it.
Yeah that was 10/10 editing, I nearly spat my drink out 😂
No literally I just about died at that part 😭
Man, I love FoundFlix's delivery in general, but the way he says "that's goOOD!" after the part about the curses being lifted on purchase really got me.
It made me laugh too. He was referencing the monkey paw story (person selling cursed items to Homer) from Simpsons Halloween episode.
I think it was thee blind womans hair blood and tooth as she was controlling him
I loved Oddity! Especially the little cameo from the Caveat rabbit.
The wooden man is a golem used in Jewish folklore as a protector or a tool of revenge.
Of course. Never made the connection it makes sense. I thought Golems were made of clay to symbolize Adam
I love the Simpson's treehouse of horror "that's bad", "that's good" reference 😂
The tent jumpscare got me good. My mom and i legit screamed. So far this is my 2md fav horror movie of the year
What's your favorite? I'm always looking for a good horror movie to watch. This one was a pleasant surprise of how good it was.
1:37 laughed so hard at this interjection😂 “ghosts? Could beeee”could be the motto for this whole channel
He is a pretty funny guy
When she says Dani “hoped to open (he opens the skullcap of the skull on display in her shop) that closed (he replaces the skullcap) mind of [his]”, that was a cool detail.
I thought the movie did well with scaring the hell out of me, but i hated the ending. I also predicted the husband was behind the whole thing about 15 min in.
It was predictable for me to,but still i enjoyed it.
2:39 listening to this while taking a nap. When you mentioned balls on his desk I was like "wait what?"
The wooden guy was so scary and the plot hole in the movie was that the characters WERE TOO CHILL ABOUT HIM 😂
Awesome video!! Would you consider doing one on Over the Garden Wall? It’s not as gory or scary as most of the things you talk about, but it’s a child-friendly spooky delight and I want to know how you feel about the antagonist. It’s also its 10 year anniversary this year!!
Yes!!! I love that show and how they tied it up so neatly in one season.
Love that the bell was a good ol Chekov's gun.
Hello Mr Foundflix! Please cover “No One Gets Out Alive”. My friends and I watched it awhile ago and was genuinely very confused and would love your explanation and deep dive about the ending!

😂😂 Ghosts!?!? Maybeeeee. The tone of the maybe got me good.

Yessssssss! I've been waiting for this review!!!
If I was olin I would've just gotten her phone from the car and given it to her to call the police
I thought that too, I rewatched it. Im pretty sure she says she thought it was in her car but it wasnt.
Not related to the video, but I’m digging the new hair! Looks good on you.
I like how with this Director, the ghosts are vindicated in their revenge!
If she can have visions of dead ppl by touching an item that was close to them .. why not touched one of her deceased sister’s items to know who killed her? Her wedding ring, her jeans idk 🤷🏻♀️
All she would see was a masked killer. Since her sister didn't know who killed her
Love these reviews!

Seems like a disconnected and potentially rewritten ending.
sequel bait potentially
It’s literally implied at the end that he dies.
That’s why he received the bell. Darcy knew he couldn’t help himself. I mean we see the fucking bellboy standing there lmao. You think the two of them just became best buddies? Despite the fact that Darcy literally tells us that the last two people to ring it died???
@@TheSCPStudio seems more effective than a wooden golem (which I assumed was her trying to catch her sisters ghost or something) - i mean its basically an assured death, with no witnesses. Maybe if you tip him or something, he goes away ☺
You should cover the substance when is comes to streaming!!!
Always glad for these ❤
I haven’t been scared of a horror movies in a LONG TIME and this movie was actually scary. Love the atmosphere.
She used the golem because that guy drew pictures of it killing Olin
im fairly certain she didnt need to die to activate Oddity, she just jumped through the trapdoor to 'right' the wrong of killing Olin
She literally said she killed Olin lol
Nice straight forward movie, the "twist" was way to obvious in my opinion but still enjoyable
