  • In this video, I'm Fly Fishing the Lower Mountain Fork River in Oklahoma. It's an awesome tailwater full of huge rainbow trout and monster brown trout! It's one of my favorites to visit during the winter when the tailwaters in Arkansas are high and unwadable. The Lower Mountain fork River in Oklahoma is unique, it still has wadable water even when they generate because the first 4-5 miles are feed from the spillway. It's a cool fishery that is worth a visit. Next stop, the San Juan River in New Mexico...subscribe and follow along as I visit more destinations in 2020.

      Definitely will be some people as it's almost resort like in the summer but maybe not so bad since school as started back. Either way, it's a good place to start!

    Cool 😎. Didn’t realize Oklahoma had fly fishing like that . Is it stocked and managed by the Cherokee? I fly fish a lot in Cherokee NC they stock up there .

      Ha, the Cherokees won’t spend “their” money if it gets to be enjoyed by non Cherokees. By “their” money I mean US Taxpayer money. Tribes in OK are full of greed and want taxpayer money to cover all their needs.

      Never been in the summer, but small flies (baetis and midges) are what I'd start with first. Also some small dries in natural colors. Be prepared for crowds!

      I did, was actually there they opened the gates and destroyed the river. Just started going back in the last couple years...great option when AR tailwaters are releasing water in the winter.

    Hello Drew - I took up FF this year at age 66 - been driving from Dallas to Brok Bow every other week the past month. Having a blast - I want to fish zone 2 and 3 this time. Staying for 3 days solo :-). What bridge is that in your pic with the big bow - looks like a nice spot. Anywhere you suggest in zone 2 or 3?

      That's awesome, welcome to the addiction! I pretty much stay above hickory cg in the catch and release area where I can sight fish. Below the dam can be good too just be aware of the generation schedule.

    This will be my second time going to beavers bend it was crowded the first time and I wasn’t able to catch anything I’m going to try and find some new spots for Late November I’m also new to fly fishing is there any spots or flies that would help me out

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  3 года назад

      There really aren't that many spots but going when it isn't crowded is way more important. As far as flies etc,..I'd suggest small natural...midges, baetis etc and the lightest indicator u can find. Foam or yarn...try to avoid the bobber style. These fish see a ton of pressure!

    One of the most beautiful areas left in Oklahoma and they turned it into an unnatural dammed system that slowly destroys aquatic life. How stupid.
