Mr. Harris makes a brief appearance on 'Bible' app, a few days ago, giving the 'verses of the day'; and the verses he quoted were Matthew 7:13-14, except there was something peculiar with the interpretation of these verses: Instead of saying-'straight is the gate', he says-'small is the gate'. That's wrong, but the question is: does it matter?

Excuse me, Mr. Herrin; but yes, the misstatement of even one word is wrong, especially when it's the Word Of God!

Lovingly, it’s not a misstatement. It’s the difference between one translation and another. Where KJV uses “straight” in verse 14, the NIV, the most used translation in the world, uses “small” in verse 15.
As believers, I think we should be more focused on the verse below than picking each other apart.
Διὸ παρακαλεῖτε ἀλλήλους καὶ οἰκοδομεῖτε εἷς τὸν ἕνα, καθὼς καὶ ποιεῖτε. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

@@madebygoodstoryThank you for that information; I was wondering what translation used 'small' in place of 'straight': Ahh, the NIV! You realize, of course, that because something is 'most used' doesn't make it right. But does it matter; whether one uses the NIV translation as opposed to some of the others?

@@madebygoodstory Now, as far as 1 Thessalonians 5:11: Both the NIV and the ESV (which my church uses) use the phrases 'to build up' ('build up each other'), whereas the KJV says 'to edify'. Once again, does it matter; and does it reflect profoundly on the believer by what translation they choose to go by? For instance: Would it have made a difference if John The Baptist had said instead: "Prepare thee the Way Of The Lord; make our crooked paths small"? Btw, the name 'Paul' means 'small', but he was not himself of the gate that leads to eternal life-and it matters! I encourage you to know that (smile).
