  • We love the holiday season here at Lollybeep Ridge, and after we get the Christmas trees up and decorated the next thing to do is make ones we can EAT! That’s right! Edible Christmas trees are nearly as fun and a lot more tasty than the real thing! So grab your aprons, little bakers, it’s time for another kitchen adventure!

    Now, let’s make some treats!
    Here’s what you need:
    -6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
    -3 Tbsp Butter
-16 oz or one bag of large marshmallows
    -Green food color
    -Miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
    -Mini M&Ms
    -Candy stars
    -White frosting
    Here’s what you do:
-In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
    -Remove from heat.
-Add green food coloring (use enough to get a nice dark green color, it will lighten up a little bit once the cereal is added.)
-Add 6 cups of cereal and stir until everything has turned green from the mixture.
-It’s going to still be a little warm so be careful with this part!
-Add a touch of cooking spray to your hands to keep them from sticking, grab a decent size ball of cereal mix and begin shaping it into a cone. make sure to get the bottom nice and flat
-Once you’ve made your trees, set them in the refrigerator to cool them down.
-While your trees are cooling, grab an icing bag, nozzle and the white frosting. Load up your icing bag (the frosting will make the light strand)
-Use the frosting to “glue” your tree trunk (the Reese’s) into place. Then begin circling the tree with your frosting.
-Before the frosting begins to set, add mini M&Ms to look like lights.
-Finally, as a dab of frosting on top to secure the star in place.
-Let it dry completely before serving. Stick them in the refrigerator to cut down on setting time.
Now that you’ve finished your Edible Christmas Trees, don’t forget to take a picture and tag us on Facebook or Instagram.
