Did a summer camp at Kamala in 1979 for Thai kids learning English. It was just a Muslim fishing village then. We camped out at the local school, played basketball and softball, swam at the pristine beach and all kinds of fun stuff with a crop of Thai kids and US and UK volunteers. Decades later the 2004 tsunami washed the village out to sea, and now it’s a fancy resort.

I was in Kamala Beach in March 2017, we stayed at the Sunprime resort, was fantastic! Did a walk up to the Novotel for lunch. Definitely reccomend Kamala Beach as a great area to stay. Cannot wait until Australia lets us travel internationally and to be back again.
Just got home from Phuket/Patong and the tourist are coming back. Yes still lots of places closed but there is still many many that are open for business and more all the time. You can tell that they definitely are hurting from the pandemic because I had a restaurant owner tell me in the street that if we are there and didn't enjoy his food it was free. Others are close to practically dragging into there shops. Made sure we did our best to support the local economy. Can't wait to return. Be well.
Thinking about booking The Pavilions for New Year weekend the price for that same space for those dates is double what you said are paying. You got a fantastic deal.

Once again, a great video! Great overview of a day in the Sandbox or a stay in Phuket in general. Like you said, Patong was like a ghost town but there's plenty of nicer places that make up Phuket. We stayed at the Novotel Kamala Beach and really enjoyed it while we were doing the Sandbox, we extended our stay for another week and toured around most places enjoying the local cuisine before heading back home in the north-east.

I just completed Sandbox in Patong at the Double tree Hotel. It was fantastic. Get over the COE and the rest is so easy. Anyone who is thinking about going, stop thinking and go. I saw over the last week Patong get busier and rules and getting easier. I would do it again in a heartbeat

Great video, Chris. I'll be in Phuket in January. I was looking at the Novotel in Kamala. I spent 9 days in Kamala in 2018. I live it there. If you find yourself in Kamala again, go by Nana's Rooftop Cafe. Great food and atmosphere and Nana is an awesome host. Thanks again Chris.
Been to Kamala, Patong, and Kata. What I like? Patong for the action, Kata for relaxing. Had some business in Kamala, so I didn't really sample the beach other than some vendor food and a visit to the Tsunami Memorial.

If you can do an updated video out on the proper way to complete the visa application including the E visa that would be helpful. This will help with faster approval. Also the process when you get to Phuket to help navigate new arrivals. You do great work and I can't wait to see Phuket!
Hope to return to Thailand in February if and that’s a “BIG If” Thailand reduces the onerous entry requirements. Fully vaccinated and nothing more should suffice in my opinion. I had my first stay at Novotel Phuket Kamala in 2014. It was very new back then. Got a free update to a beach facing villa with outdoor jacuzzi!
I lived in Kamala for 18 months and even got married there, fantastic place and back for 3 months next month! Cannot wait!
Surf and Turf is great. I was there in 2018 and had an amazing meal.
