    Another great video JJ. I wasn’t expecting to learn much this time - how wrong I was! Lots of useful features in that Merc. With a dash of your usual humour too - loved the ‘fish tank’ and Backseat JJ sticking his head out the window like an excited puppy.

    Hi JJ. Another great video. You have summed the car up nicely. Exactly the reason I bought it. A few nice features without being too drizzled in tech but still a quiet, elegant and relaxing place to be whenever you drive it. Thank you for giving my car a second outing. I’m sure it feels honoured!
    For anyone thinking about having their car reviewed by JJ. I can highly recommend it. He’s a good bloke.

    JJ, spot on review mate. Having owned my 2016 E400 coupe now for 6 months, I believe you have hit the main features and quirks of the car. Nothing else specific to this car comes to mind beyond the items you covered. It's a lovely car, so comfortable and every drive is an experience.

    I traded a E350 cabriolet for a similar E350 coupe, same spec as the model tested with t he panoramic roof. Great car I put 40000 miles on it in a year with no issues. The newer E class models have a far superior dashboard though.👍

      Hard to say, I don't keep track of values of these things. But this is a top spec car with a lot of the extra features, it's reasonably low miles. So perhaps something like £15k.

      I pay pretty close attention having just bought a 2016 fully loaded and very low mileage example. I'd say they are going for $28-30k CDN so 15-18k pounds seems right for the latter years of the C207.

    Bought a late 2014 E350 Bluetec Coupe from a friend just over 2 years ago. It was a cost saving experiment, as previously I had been running (new) BMW 530's as lease cars; they were great, I had 3 over 12 years, but expensive and my annual mileage has dropped to less than 5k per year. Anyway the E350 has been fantastic, looks amazing, has a great 9 speed auto box, and is fast enough for me. The only thing I would say is that the suspension is a tad harsh compared to the 530 beemers. There was an engine management system recall on them around a year ago, to my amazement the local MB Dealer replaced the NOX sensors free of charge when they did the recall work, oh and MB homologation department also confirmed that the car is Euro6 compliant and sent me a certificate so I can get it registered as ULEZ compliant (again free of charge). For a almost 10 year old car it is in great condition, though I still do need to get the wheels refurbished to make it perfect.

      No you said until the clk500 breaks down. They barely ever break down. And the issues they have are all simple fixes. I will listen to owner reviews and Mercedes master technician who have stated seeing a examples of 500 thousand miles, heads rebuilt then keep going. Its proven worldwide. Most Mercedes are unreliable i agree. But not the Clk 500, 5 litre. Any Mercedes with that m113 and 5 speed auto are bullet proof. Look it up 👍🏼

    Now the real question do you prefer it over your CLK. It essentially is the next clk. What i don't like about it is thag when you put all the windows down there's still this little piece of window up in the back. The CLK on the other hand has a fully open space

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  9 месяцев назад +1

      I knew this question was coming :) Honest answer - no! The E-Class is a great car, a worthy modern successor to the CLK. But the CLK is from a simpler time, sleeker smoother design, heavier steering. It's a personal preference really as I can easily see how someone would prefer the E.
      I also fully agree about that little bit of glass at the back, it is a shame they couldn't fully get rid of the side glass with the windows down.

    Good video. However that 7 speed auto box can be problematic and costly to repair. However the Clk 500 with the 5 litre v8 and 5 speed automatic combination is proven bulletproof it. The m113 5 speed auto. Is the best v8 drivetrain they ever made.

  • @Millennial_Manc

    I bought the pre-facelift model 4 months ago. I prefer the exterior shape as it’s more Teutonic and reminds me of my c124 coupé from years ago, however the facelift interior is a significant improvement on mine. In fact it’s the most money Mercedes have ever spent on refreshing a model mid-term. I found one in the right colour, with COMAND, light coloured real leather, 55k on the clock and a 3 year warranty. I would have preferred a face lifted one but I couldn’t find one within budget that had COMAND and a light interior - almost all are the black vinyl seats. I LOVE having toys on my cars and wish mine was more generously equipped.
    One thing I do love is that I’ve set the central locking to only open the driver’s door on one key press and unlock the rest on the second press. I’m always conscious at the petrol station that someone could fling my passenger door open and drive off with my phone / bag, or loot me in a car park. I’m almost always on my own in the car so it’s a great feature to have.
    Another thing I like that I’ve not had before is that I can choose between having separate climate control zones or having the temperature change the whole car. It’s a small thing but having to change the temp for an empty seat is an unnecessary distraction. The button on the side of the seats to adjust the headrests (when you don’t have full electric seats) is a much more elegant solution than trying to press those clips on the metal headrest rods to move it up and down.
    Without a doubt, my favourite feature is the active headlamp assist. Even indicating causes a sort of mini flood light to come on before you even start to turn a corner, and the way the lighting moves as you corner in the dark was absolutely fantastic when I recently drove through country lanes in a no light pollution zone in Northumberland.
    Very pleased with the car and I already know I’ll miss it no matter what replaces it in the future. Not as much as I miss my c124 though. Whoops.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  9 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with you on the looks of the pre-facelift. It looks like that's how the car was supposed to be, the original design before they modified it to have the new grille and lights that all their other cars had.
      Thanks for sharing :) And the C124 is a beautiful car, would love one of those myself

    Besides the exploding bolts that raises the boonnet/hood in case of a colliding with a person, here is my honest experience with my 2014 E350 4matic bought 5.5 yrs ago from CPO:
    - its m276 non-turbo engine has been great. I thought 302 bhp and 273 lbft would a little tepid, but it is not.
    - driven only 29k km since, 40% city 60% freeway.
    - averages less thsn 10L per 100km, where i usually drive 120 to 140km/hr on the freeway.
    - except for a sticky foot brake, no issues but 7 speed can be a little clunky.
    - agree with all the pros and features, but my dislikes include:
    - poor placement of the cup holders right up towards the front, blocking the hvac controls.
    - can only attach dash cams to windshield, as a screen is in the way or the side windows rolling all the way down.
    - no rear centre armrest.
    - rear head rests should not be one piece with the seat, but separate and attached to the rear deck below the rear windscreen.
    - too many appendages or controls jutting from the steering column.

    I really can't decide which Mercedes is better, C209 or C207 in terms of design. The second CLK seems to be more coherent in shapes, it has these clear Sacco lines, more organic, yes, but still. C207 is more complex, and in my opinion looks good only in lighter colours, darker seem to be to heavy and that little window next to C-pillar makes it look like sedan. Interior has quality feel to it but the dash shape screams Vauxhall Zafira or Astra to me. Still better looking than C238 and any other coupe from Mercedes after 2005, even CL and S-class looks meh to me.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  8 месяцев назад +1

      I can see the Vauxhall dash shape you're talking about 😄 But it's just a shape really, the actual dash is really nice and good quality. The C207 is a good looking car in its own right, but I am more drawn to the simplicity and sleekness of the C209 (but then I do own one hehe)
