Great that you pronounced Yasuke properly. It's impressive that you know both the world history and that his name, once transliterated into Japanese, would be pronounced with a silent 'u'.
I liked Lockley and Girard's book, "African Samurai", which makes an effort to recover the real history of Yasuke, as best we can, centuries later. I'll admit I didn't make it to the end of the book before my attention got pulled elsewhere, but the parts I read through were fascinating enough.
Appreciate the input. I'll have to find that book and check it out one day.
@@jjstarwind please dont do that, its academic bullshit to make u feel good inside yo agend, look for real afroasia studies, theres no yasuke.
bro your source got its source from wiki about nanban it looks like half of it is fictional lol
Good video man, just save the first 1:00 of the video or put it in later. Its boring
As you should tell him that, what they think the stuff is made up or something? Yasuke history is a fact is in our textbooks, it's a shame that about 5 years ago when this particular topic arise but definitely informational. Good vid
so this is why Japan closed its borders shortly after
Bro who said Africans didn’t go to Japan? Not only did they go to Japan, they also went to China, Indonesia and other areas in Asia AND also set up colonies in some areas of India… and what’s wild is so did the Chinese on the east coast of Africa, they also set up colonies and trade posts. You just never hear about it.
Check out my video on Yasuke. bunch of people disliked my opinion and a few denied the history.
Now we got dudes saying that yasuke is gay in the game now. Lmao wtf
The same concept was done in AC Odyssey and Valhalla. I guarantee that is what Ubisoft wants to do for AC Shadows. These channels are doing nothing but exposing themselves about how they feel about certain people and narratives. They are simply toxic and untrustworthy.
So there IS speculation this could have been the case in history. We know that Oda Nobunaga was fascinated with Yasuke, and for Japanese noblemen to have physical relationships with their underlings was normal in the culture of the time. If Nobunaga had made advances on Yasuke, and Yasuke had accepted, it would fit the facts we know.
Ultimately, it's speculation. We don't have any written records to confirm it, and you can't prove a negative. So that is lost to history. But we shouldn't be quick to dismiss it. Really, we'll never know.
@SamBrownBaudot Nobunaga had a young retainer named Ranmaru Mori that died the same day he did. They might have been in a relationship, but I dunno how true that is. So Yasuke being queer isn't that farfetched either.
Thanks for sharing this! It's always a pleasure learning something new - an ongoing process that follows us the length of our lives.
Great video professor jj
African people were and are still most definitely a seafaring sailing people. They make good sailors on diverse ships and have spread themselves around the world.
You make it sound like they had a choice to get on them ships
@@laviii451they even had a great taste in fashion, considering the chains which they wore while going on those far-reaching adventures.
Dug out canoes don't do ocean voyages. And they ain't ships. Which African sailors are you talking about?
Very informative
This Is a excellent video jj. Lets be honest, dude bros lost their crap when they saw a brotha with the women they feel entitled to.
I'm afraid you're right. They feel entitled to certain people and cultures. Once other men get access into said place and culture they want to lie and slander the men for so called concern. Smdh
