Thanks for posting. I have tried to go down the mountain there twice. Both times I got worried I'd get so far and it would be blocked with no place to turn around, or meet someone going the other way and not being able to pass each other.
Looks like a fun drive. I run mostly in Elko County, but plan a trip to Reno in the Spring to deliver some truck parts to a friend,so I might take a stab at this road. I don't have any locking diffs yet,but my '81 Toyota 4X4 truck does pretty well on this kinda stuff. (Max. elevation so far-10,262 ft.) Will be trying for a couple of Yukon Lockers soon.
Next time I visit Reno (my hometown) I'll have to take my rig up that trail. Done a lot of driving up to Hunter Lake but not much into the mountains around VC not sure why.
It might just depends on how much you like your car my Jeep has 10inches of ground clearance and did scrap in a couple spots also it’s been probably a 1 1/2 years since I did it and that those trails are always changing and it being spring time the ruts are probably at there deepest from the rain and snow melt
coconutzMIGRATE I only have the factory limited slip in the rear basically a stock jku sport. And yes it’s a fun quick trail only took 30 min to run the hole thing. if you’re on your way to Virginia city from the Reno area I’d definitely recommend it as long as you have some good ground clearance and 4wd. just a warning tho there are some big rocks and a couple deep ruts.

I didn’t know about this trail. I just moved to South Meadows.

hi i moved here 7 years ago and just got my first 4x4 and would love to try this trail. can you tell me where it starts? thanks
I was on it today. It’s on the east side of washoe lake. There is a sign in the road saying JUMBO GRADE 1 MILE. With and arrow. It’s easy to find.
@@kyjelly5524 No, this isn't jumbo grade.
If i wanted to drive my Subaru Impreza up there you think it would make it?
I wouldn’t recommend doing it i a Subaru there’s quite a few deep ruts and bigger rocks that require 4x4 and high ground clearance
Rhett Pardini Hows a Rav4 with 8.4 inches of ground clearance? Still to low?

Rhett Pardini Thanks for the heads up
