If you want Zato tips, then here's a dumb one: when your opponent is about fullscreen away, use the sword throw super to get Eddie behind your opponent and then use frog. Most people will either run in or try to hit Eddie after blocking your super, so the frog will hit more times than not and lead into a painful combo. If they block the frog, then you can get in and do some sandwich pressure.
@@VolnuttPWNS haha yeah that's very effective. It's also a good use of your meter to keep pressure up if your previous eddie pressure fails for some reason.
@@coreyrachar9694 Sword will spawn at Eddie's location even after using all his meter if you are quick. I often find myself using all my meter on sword because the pressure and time frame it allows so much mix 😂.
For some reason, every time that I'm trying to learn a new character, I inevitably run into a Zato for one of my first matches. It's like "Welp, time to learn stuff that I will use against literally nobody else."
-The ''pierce'' command (P summon) which is a grounded move that Eddie does where he lunges forward twice, is punishable. If you block the first hit, you can just punch him before the second hit to kill Eddie. Most good zato won't ever do just raw pierce without covering the gap, but I've seen so many people respect that move and you should punish it! -In oppressive blockstrings and setups, it might be hard to understand what is happening, but keep in mind that every single eddie command hits mid. The one that's doing mixup is zato himself. Be on the lookout for lows (standing kick and crouching kick), his forward kick (Looks like a guillotine), his dust/down dust and jumps. -Try to keep the oppression against zato, he's got BY FAR the worst defense in the game, his only reversal is a 6frame jab that doesn't confirm into anything else than itself, in some cases it doesn't even push back enough to let him summon oppose. keep in mind when eddie is down and punish Them, his framedata is absolutely horrible and needs Eddie to cover his neutral (all normals are super minus on block and most of his good normals are even minus on hit). -Unironically, if you wall splat him, it's almost better to let him recover to keep him in the corner. -Use YRC when stuck in a blockstring setup to kill eddie, it puts you back in neutral (which is incredibly advantageous for you since he doesn't have eddie anymore). This is Probably the best use of YRC in the game.
Learning the matchups is definitely my favorite thing about a brand new fighting game. So much to learn and adjust to, and it only gets more fun as time goes by and more is discovered.
@Leith Aziz PAGY Really? How lame. It would have been poetic justice if Zato had been forced to battle for Eddie. That does beg the question of how did the conclave resurrected him if his soul wasn't at all inside his body.

2 of my friends are zato mains And I already knew most of this except for getting rid of armored eddie it with red Rc. With sol bandit revolver is your friend against zato. I just double jump up and cross him with bandit revolver. With ky I just jump and do jHS close to the ground, even if eddie is behind me it'll hit ky's JHS has a really good hit box. Zato feels like a boss fight in this game i genuinely love fighting zato its really hard and can get frustrating at times but its mostly really fucking fun
Zatoichi was a blind swordsman in Japanese folklore. Ichi is the Japanese pronunciation of the number one. All we know of his childhood is that he was taken in as an orphan by the assassin's guild. Eddie's name is most likely an Iron Maiden reference. Not sure if there's a canonical reason why a demonic shadowbeast has such a chill-sounding name.
Played 20 rounds with a floor 10 Zato, lol ended up being 3 - 17 because they were the 1st actual Zato I faced, and the MU experience was great. As an Axl main it seemed so much more in my favor for Xrd, but looking back I didnt capitalize on hitting Eddie in Strive.
A basic tip if you don't know what a character is doing is to just go to training mode and look at their movelist. With this, you can know any follow ups that a character has

it may benefit you to just open up zato in training mode and learn the animations for the 4 eddie attacks (236P, 236K, 236S, and 236H). All the other animations/specials you can see can be done with or without eddie gauge. 22H is a single drill, no eddie neceesary, the multiple drills going across the screen is 236K, which is an eddie move; i encourage you to check it out :)
