Hi Brian! Read you comment on Ashley’s channel so I had to check you out. You are way too hard on yourself. I found this video quite informative with the breakdown of potential profitability. You’ve got a good voice and I find you very relatable. Only the humble opinion of someone who watches a lot of reselling videos but is not ready to be a content creator. Cheers 💃

I had an epiphany the other night: "What if I bought low from Marshalls and listed the items on my eBay?" I looked it up on RUclips, and you were the first vid I watched. Glad that I did. 🙌🤘
no way thats awesome, pretty much the exact same thing happened to me 5 years ago. Business has evolved I do mainly used clothing now but a small amount of my business comes from retail still.
@@JoshBruin77 Just start. Start slow with what you can afford because you will make mistakes. Its also way easier to make money on the side than to go full time doing this like me. So pick up the best items you can and try to enjoy it.
You can sell new products as new. some brands will get mad at you which is part of the learning curve. but most are okay. Usually they will only care if you are a massive seller that clearly is getting some private deals for their products somehow.
Great video Bryan! I'm not a beginner but I enjoy watching other resellers processes. It's just interesting to see how other people succeed at reselling :)

Those shoes prices wow! Unfortunately my TJ max doesn't have shoes. Do you think is possible to make money with the regular priced Merchandise or is it better to just go with the clearance section? Great job!
I picked up some womens ralph lauren embroidered boyfriend shirts for 20 bucks full price. I picked up i think 5 of them and they all sold pretty quickly for 75-80. they retailed for i think 145. It just depends on what they price is at and what the retail price is. generally anything under 100 retail probably needs a clearance sticker. On the flip side I see tommy bahama shirts that also retail for 150ish but they price them at 40 so I would need a clearance sticker on that was well so it just depends.
awesome I wish I started this at that age! I started 2 years ago just selling things around the house. Selling thrift store items costs a lot less to start.
Great video! I’m always so nervous about RA but I appreciate the math you did to show potential payouts on multi-quantity listings. Also, great pickups with those yellow tag clearance items!

Hey Bryan, awesome lessons I'm glad your making this kind of information more accessible to people ! Any chance you are interested in having a short audio call about sourcing items to resell ? We are trying to talk to as many different resellers as possible - especially part time sellers ! The available timeslots for the calls are 7AM or 12PM California time. Let me know!
still working on getting all my info out. I use a drill with a brush attachment with some shoe cleaner. Just a rag with some 8 dollar shoe cleaner will work for getting the writing off. I get shoe boxes off of usps, they have a box actually called the "shoe box". the dimensions are 14-8-5. They are 100% free you just have to make an account.
It all depends on the sell through rate, I unfortunately didn't go over this in the video but when you type the item in the search it will tell you how many are listed, then when you check the sold box it will tell you how many of that item has sold recently. Those cole haan shoes are selling as many that are being listed, I got a sale every few days with those, some items (the nikes) sell slower. You just have to learn and do your research over time, and of course make mistakes and have bad buys to learn. It also depends on how much you undercut the competition in price, so the faster you can list the cheaper you can sell your products for.
lower the price and get the money back or take the loss, that's how business works. Learn to not make the same mistakes but there will always be stuff that doesn't sell. don't buy more inventory than you can afford, grow slow and think long term. As long as you cash flow and your wins outweigh the losses then you're good.
Yes sir, a lot of people starting out use a spread sheet which you can get from other resellers for cheap or free. Once things grow generally (not everyone) people use software like godaddy or quickbooks + some others which i dont know much about. For me software automates a lot for you so its worth the price imo but only after I had a few grand in sales. After re-reading your comment I realized you meant when im at the store. I just do the calculation in my head. Ebay fees are around 13 percent for shoes (only around 3 percent for athletic shoes over 100) and I make the buyer pay shipping depending on where they live. So if I turn a 10 dollar pair of shoes into 50 + buyer pays shipping based on their area. That means the sale will be around 63 dollars so 10 (cost) + 13% of 63 (I just round up to 7 dollars to make it easy in my head) so thats 17 dollars into 50 if they buyer pays shipping. also tax Also you can google ebay calculator until you get it hope this makes sense haha
9-11 for shoes, with clothing generally the bigger the better, although once you start getting into 3xl and above it depends on the brand, some brands fit bigger folks better and they will pay a premium.
Both. Since I sell mainly clothing and shoes which dont weigh very much, I buy labels off ebay, they give discounts on their shipping. There are third party websites like pirateship that a lot of people use to get good prices on shipping for large heavy items.
@@jonahs.8735 yeah so I buy the USPS shipping label off ebay (I bought a label printer first thing after selling stuff around the house before starting my business), slap it on the package and then drop it off in the bin at the post office.
@@bryanronning ah okay got it! Also I sold some shoes on eBay but I don’t have any boxes to ship them in. Sometimes I taken some from my mom when she orders things. Where do you get your boxes from?
@@youraverageyoutuberj usps has free boxes! Go to usps website and make an account. They literally have a box called the shoe box, but it only fits shoes without a box. New shoes with a box are a bit more complicated you'd have to look up on youtube how to do it since it would be hard to explain over a message and I don't have a video yet on it. Also some shoes I ship in a padded flat rate envelope also from usps. If they are over a pound but small enough to fit then that's the way to go.
Ive heard this with various brands. I heard the same thing about north face and arcteryx and other resellers say they dont have a problem. I think the problem is when you sell really high amounts of volume, the brand may come after you since you have a huge influence on the brands reputation. I dont think small resellers who sell a variety of different brands will generally have any problems. For example if I got to know the manager at nike outlet and he was able to use his account to buy lots of shoes for me at wholesale price, hes gets instant profit and I put in the work to resell each shoe online, I may be in trouble doing that kind of volume because nike wouldnt want me taking a huge part of their market.
