    My main interest in one of these is to travel with it, so I'm leaning towards the 5 for that reason- the fact that it's even smaller than the 10. Not concerned about the presets or the Aux volume, but- does anyone have an opinion on the THR5's single tone control vs. the 3 band eq on the THR10? Doesn't seem like a huge setback but I've only been able to sample the 10.

  • @bubbanderson
    @bubbanderson 12 лет назад +1

    Well done ... that helps my decision a lot ! Hope Santa can get the THR 10 down the chimney.
    Other things to note are the lack of separate Tone controls on the 5 and the fact that the10 has 3 extra amp models so you can use it with a bass, electro-acoustic or any other Line source but with control of tone.

  • @jasper_of_puppets
    @jasper_of_puppets 12 лет назад +3

    I've played both. The cab size is not what makes a difference. The THR10 has individual low, mid, and high frequency knobs to adjust the sound, and add more bass if desired. The THR5 just has a single tone knob. Volume-wise, they're both about the same.

    true - and they make inline volume control knobs for this purpose too, that are designed for pro use; so there are adequate workarounds with a little effort.

    For my money, the 10 isn't worth the massive 50% markup in price unless there's a significant difference in audio quality.

    A lot of inexpensive headphones have an extension cable with a volume control. You can easily use it for controlling your CD player.
    Of course, the saving capability is a good point you mentioned and is not pointed out iout there.

    Does the THR 5 of have a line out for recording or is it USB only recording?

    • @nasonmusic
      @nasonmusic  6 лет назад

      The only line out is the headphone jack. It is 1/4" stereo. You can get a Y cable to split it into Left and Right Mono 1/4". Other than that, it's USB - but the computer does see 4 USB inputs: Left and Right Processed, and Left and Right dry (just the clean guitar signal for re-amping).

    I bought the THR-10 without to know that it is better.
    I knew that existed the THR-5 and companies offer less in the previous model so you buy the next.
    The THR-10 is fun! It is great. I just dont like the fact that both 5 and 10
    don't have a low cut button, sometimes if you have a great bass-player,
    you need a low cut button, the eqs of TH-5 and 10 are warm,
    the sound has a warmness - great bass frequencies.
    I would love a low cut switch-WITH fixed eq,for unwarm sound,
    in case you have a bass

    Hey, I have a THR10 and tried to recording with my Schecter bass in the bass amp modeling, with USB to Mac and Garageband. I found it even I have turned everything all the way up (new battery for the bass as well), it's still in a very low volume in Garageband. (It sounds good from the amp speaker, only low volume on the Garageband recording)
    Did you know anything about this issue and can be fixed? thanks.

    I can't decide between the THR10, THR10C & THR10X. It's not a price issue. I'd be happy to get the THR10X if it includes all the features of the straight 10 & 10C. Or perhaps the straight 10 can do things the other 2 models can't? Or maybe the 10C can do things the other 2 models can't? I really wish Yamaha had a difference control panel colour scheme ... the markings on the THR10X are really hard to see. Pass me the flashlight Jeeves...

      Jonathan L , I have the normal 10 it is great. If money doesnt matter than buy the X and the C cause one has great high gain amps, the other has great clean amps. Imo the 10 is a bit of both.

    a simple low cut doesn't work
    the best switch is lo-cut PLUS fixed eq, to make a nice bell in the spectrum of frequencies. - this can be set- if you wand additional changes you could use the normal eq that already exist in the THR-10,5
    the low cut option creates an non interesting sound.
    It is great tough if you play with many musicians and you want auto-sound engineering - fast engineering
