Hey folks! I realized on the removal of the R6800 NDS Crank Arm I pulled the dust cap BEFORE breaking loose the crank arm clamping bolts. The dust cap also serves as a bearing pre-load. It was hand tight, however I did it in the wrong order. Break lose the bolts that clamp the arm to the 24mm spindle and THEN pull the dust cap. It's likely it comes off much easier. Hope that adds some clarification if you're having a bit of trouble. Cheers and sorry for the confusion! Any other questions feel free to drop them below!
Hahaha I know I know I'm sorry, I've been slacking on the coffee montage. I even made a coffee and didn't drop the edit. What am I even doing anymore 😂
Are you sure you've actually got 15NM on the chainring and not the bolts bottoming out because you've removed a chainring and haven't used shorter bolts to compensate?
@@jimbo9030 owh sorry didn’t notice 😅. When he showed the chainrings I noticed that the new one already had bolts in it. And I think that if that chainring is compatible with Shimano ultegra it should fit the bolts.
Garbaruk has this built specifically to be compatible with your existing Ultegra cranks. So the threads on the 1X ring are the same depth as if you were running a dual ring. There’s no play or space between the crank arm contact points and the chainring. All is buttoned up properly 🤘🏼hope that helps
Thanks Boss, appreciate this video. Have a question- I have a 105 crankset and want to upgrade to a Dura Ace. Is it a direct swap? Do I need to upgrade the BB? Can I just plug and play?
Hey Tim! Thanks for watching. If it’s the same bike and you already have the BB I can’t think of a problem you’d have. Both spindles on modern 105 and Dura Ace are 24mm spindles and that’s really what matters. My initial answer is that it’s plug and play. BB usually varies with bike in my experience. I.e. threaded, press fit, etc. but for Shimano it should have the same size opening for the crank spindle to slot into. Hope that helps! Let me know how the swap goes and remember I’m no super genius just a guy on RUclips so please don’t burn me at the stake if I’m missing something here. 😆
@@WaltDoesBikes not at all, Walt. You’re not the nest I’m putting all my eggs into. Just looking for another bike guy’s opinion. This is what I expected as well, thanks!
@@Jacob99174 I did check in with a friend of mine who’s a legit mechanic and he confirmed what I said above. 24mm offset is 24mm so you should be good to go.
I have bought an alternative product from Alugear also specifically designed for Ultegra R 8000 cranarms. The ring is pretty noisy. How is Grarbaruk? Is it ok? Other experiences?
Well, I was born without the top of my skull and I guess a little bit of my brains was showin’ and it was grossin’ everybody out so my mom put this wig on me to cover it up and then the bones grew together and it got all infused and entwined. I mean I don’t have to get all scientific with you…

the chainring had his own bolts
@@DJBeurdex at 4min35 he says it doesn't come with bolts and you'll need to use the Ultegra bolts 🤷

You probably didn’t buy the proprietary bolts that should go with it
What brand is that 1x chainring?
If Joe dirt chose a different direction and became a cyclist
