I like the sepia of the old papershoot. There's just something on that first version that you can't let go just bec the other one is typeC plus shuttersounds and indicators.
Wow, this makes me want to wait for a third version! I've been following them since the beginning but have had reservations, really nice to see the comparisons between the two cameras.
Thank you for doing this comparison! I just got the 18MP last weekend, and looking at your comparison shots, I do think the filters themselves look better on the 16MP version. I wish they would come out with a patch or something that would put the old filters on the new cameras (though I didn’t know about the time and date fix before this video, I’m super happy I found out about it!)
Thanks for the review!! I purchased the 18mp a couple days ago & after seeing your video, I was able to contact their support, to have send me the 16mp instead 😅. Your comparison shots really helped my decision!
My affiliate link: papershootcamera.com/pages/_go_?ref=5546:175387&discount=BD16C3BFD53-5546 UPDATE: I have been having issues with my new Papershoot. It’s not functioning in the cold weather. After about 15 minutes of being in the cold, it stops working. Papershoot said I most likely needed new batteries. I knew it wasn't the batteries but purchased new ones anyways, and the same issue occured. They then told me that the camera does die in the cold sometimes however they haven't had a complaint like this. They said they would be making a camera warming case for winter 🤔 very confusing considering they said no one has mentioned this happening. But oh well. Do I still recommend the new papershoot? I'm not entirely sure. Thank you again to everyone who has supported me 💕
I'm glad I came across your video before purchasing. I'm just disappointed with the quality of the B&W filter on the new version-it has this warm tone and it sucks. Another issue with the new version is the blown-out highlights. The older version is better on this one. Gonna wait for their update before getting one.
Interestingly, unlike other comments, i more prefer new one because it's vivider and closer to its original color. I think the old one distorts the natural color and only makes color of the photo look all same. So most 16mp users rarely used the sepia filter.
Same about shipping. I'm in the UK and this is not an inexpensive camera, I understand the cost and credentials of this lovely camera, however when shipping adds another £30+ GBP to the costs just makes it way too expensive for me when I can get a used old CCD point and shoot for much less. such a shame there are no other outlets.
Thank you very much for all the informations. I'm planning to buy one in a few months and all the review videos I could find was about the old one. I am very sure I will have fun with this camera. Thanks again.
the 1st version is by far much more better, new actually just looks like any picture taken with any random phone but with extra steps, quite sad as i really wanted to get one myself. hope they make a new version that's genuenily better cuz this was just 100% an intentional downgrade to keep on selling filters, which is quite a shame :(
I bought the 18mp .. but yeah, it loses a lot if you're going for "film look." Any shots from the 16 just instantly remind me of the 80's. Any shot from the new cam reminds me of a lousy phone camera.
Why is there still such a long shutter-lag? It's not like the camera needs to do a massive amount of computing. Was hoping that the lag would have been reduced on the new 18MP version, but it's not; one of the reasons why I've been holding back on getting a Papershoot camera.
Hello! After 5 months of using it, which is your pick? 16mp or 18mp? I have got the 16mp and now I am in taiwan, thinking if I should get the 18mp hahaha
i'm looking for what is the different about the old one and the new one, bcs i have plan to buy one. Thank's for all the informations. I think i prefer the old one, because it is look more artsy.
I prefer the new filters more. A lot of the filters are more true to the film I use on my film cameras instead of looking like an actual filter. Thanks for the comparison though, I was curious what the difference between them looked like since I have the newer model! 🙂
watching this video has honestly made me very upset! I just bought the new wes anderson limited edition astroid city camera and it was 18MP only. I'm gonna get my hadns on it first before i make my final judgement but the whole point of the camera is so it looks filmy and the 18mp photos dont?! I wanna cry this was legit my birthday present idk what to do
The new one definitely looks a lot less like a film camera but it’s not as high quality as a phone camera. I’m very conflicted at which I prefer. I personally want to use my phone less so the new camera gives better quality photos, but I love the film look of the old camera :)
One of the only 18mp papershoot camera reviews on youtube, thanks!
You're welcome!

Thanks for the honest review! I won't be picking one up. 😊

I prefer the old papershoot one, only because sepia its more pronounce and has a unique vibe to it

thanks for the comparison photos. exactly what I'm looking for before deciding to get the old or new one. I prefer the old 16mp one!

I actually much more prefer the old version due to it looking more like a film camera

They should make a function card case

Are the cases interchangeable? I’m wondering if I can get a new case for my 16MP.
Ordered the 18mp and wish I'd watched this first lol. Cancelled my order and I'm gonna get the 16 instead.

I do wish it took the photos faster as well. It's hard to take photos of moving subjects. Maybe one day that will be improved 🤞
Hello, I bought my vanguard camera version in 2021 and it has 13 mp, and micro usb 😢
I wish I would’ve gotten the old 😢
Hello! After 5 months of using it, which is your pick? 16mp or 18mp? I have got the 16mp and now I am in taiwan, thinking if I should get the 18mp hahaha
I think they swapped the sepia to a "warm" tone. Instead of that proper strong orangey-brown filter.
i'm looking for what is the different about the old one and the new one, bcs i have plan to buy one. Thank's for all the informations. I think i prefer the old one, because it is look more artsy.
Do either of these play a song while using the video function? I don’t want it to sound like a ringtone every time I’m filming.
Can you charge the rechargeable batteries on the old camera by plugging it in? Same question for retrieving the photos?
wow the sepia on the new one is abysmal! how sad!!! im glad i watched before i bought!
I prefer the new filters more. A lot of the filters are more true to the film I use on my film cameras instead of looking like an actual filter. Thanks for the comparison though, I was curious what the difference between them looked like since I have the newer model! 🙂
Interesting! I'm glad you like the new one 😊

I hate the two beep - it alerts ppl when trying to get candid photos or even my cats look up 😂 ruining the photo
I really want to buy one! But I already spent so much this month! LOL maybe next month ❤️
The new one takes away the point of a paper shoot. It's supposed to look like film. The new one is just a phone camera.
I have an 18mp paper shoot and it for sure still looks like film. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Good video. Informative. Thank you.
Interesting! Thank you.
You’re welcome!
