I get the impression that none of the Vs are above the others, but they each have their strengths. Valentino's the muscle, Vox is the face and Velvette's the brains
As Velvette sang in _Respectless:_ "I'm the backbone of the Vees!"
I'd actually argue Vox is the stronger of the three, Val seems to contribute maybe about 35% of the total power difference as Vox is the only one that doesn't answer to the others and I can't see Val going toe to toe with Alastor and walking out alive.
I was under the impression that Vox is the bottom line business mindset, Velvette is the marketing, and Val is the production and recruitment.
Vox seems like the strongest of them. I doubt that he would have a problem making corn streaming service or taking a control over social media. He also seems powerful in terms of just raw power, as he went toe to toe with alastor even before upgrades (you can find a picture of him with old lamp tv head)
I feel like there's a lot of people blaming Charlie during this episode for "trying to get involved in an abusive relationship"
But until Angel came out of the dressing room with a black eye she had NO IDEA that the relationship was abusive. Angel has been putting on a "masquerade" in front of her and the others this entire time that he loves his job and the fame and glamour and all that, and his only complaint is that his boss is a little bit of a hardass about putting in extra hours. For her, she was basically just going to a friend's workplace to talk about getting him some time off for a charity project
exactly!
💯
fair enough. I do sometimes forget that the characters don't always know everything that the audience does.
Not sure what industry you've worked where it would be fine if your friend showed up uninvited and unannounced at your job and then interfered with work getting done. In the real world, your boss would see you as a potential problem employee who brings in trouble. You'd be lucky not to get fired. And this show is set in hell, so bosses are free do more than threaten unemployment. I mean, exactly what HR department or labor laws are going to stop them? Valentino is a known overlord and Charlie was born in hell. She had every reason to know that challenging his authority in his own business would just piss him off, and that it wouldn't be HER that he took his temper out on. Her naivete about her own home makes so little sense... I keep hoping there will be an in world explanation, but it's probably just a convenient plot device.
@@sybariticcupboardrat3763 Charlie is naive. She is a privileged princess who grew up very sheltered and now she is naive about things. That's the whole show. That's Hazbin Hotel. If you expected her to be anything else, you're watching the wrong show
In this episode she was naive and overstepped, which she learned she needs to work on. But she is not to blame for how Val treats Angel. VAL IS. Placing the blame on Charlie instead of him is a really messed up thing to do
Especially since, again, the whole setup of this episode is that Angel has been LYING to everyone about how amazing his job is, and Husk is the ONLY one who sees through it. Someone less naive than Charlie would have known going there was a dumb thing to do, sure, but acting like anyone in her situation should have magically known it would end in Angel being harmed the way he was?? That's some grade-A BS and you know it
Valentino: _breaths_
Fandom: "PEACE WAS NEVER AN OPTION!!!" 👿
So, I have a slight meta concern about this episode and tell me if you think it's ridiculous or not.
This episode involves some very serious topics, but I worry about the effect it has on people. Angel is showcasing how vile abuse and manipulation can be, both in a relationship and in this type of industry, but I also worry that this is heavily demonizing and already very demonized industry, that is not inherently corrupt. Sex workers are already so vilified, and I worry that this episode is just reinforcing that belief. It's good that it shows how bad the bad side can be, but I feel like the don't offer anything to show the good side.
@@Phatnaru0002 I don't think it's ridiculous. But I do believe this is bringing up an issue that is not explored in great detail due to how uncomfortable it makes people. It's kinda like the meat-packing industry back in the late 19th to early 20th century, the corruption is there and people know but they're afraid to acknowledge it. It's not a demonization of sex workers, it's pointing out the corruption of the management.
@@ForgottenHonor0 True, and that IS important. I guess I just wish they also just showed a little of the good side too. Maybe someone else in the industry that was good and cared about his autonomy, and opposed Valentino.
Charlie could easily delete Val in a fair fight(thought I highly doubt Val would play fair) but the fact that Angel cares more for Charlie’s safety than himself says a lot
It's really sweet how worried he was for her.
You're spot on, Charlie could fold Valentino like clean laundry, but Angel has a distorted view of their power. He always sees Charlie as little pretty princess who constantly shows weakness and is easily swept up by things, and he always sees Valentino throwing his weight around and on a personal note beating the brakes off him whenever he wants. In his mind, he can't picture Charlie standing a chance in that fight because he's never seen her actually show her strength before.
angel told charlie to take it up with his boss which is what she did. she had no idea the situation he was in until AFTER she was there. I don’t blame her at all.
There's a lot of good things to say about this one. But a smaller part of it that I really like is the balance they struck with Charlie, Her optimism can make her view of the world naive at times but she's not dumb. She learns and picks up on things quickly and is presented as pretty emotionally aware. It's so easy to make super positive characters like her just be permanently oblivious and never learn anything, so having Charlie be the one to say they need to let him come home when he chooses to and just make sure he's safe until then was a great character beat. And I love that she is actually writing out all those apology letters at the end with her standard doodles and colored crayons.
I like to think that the look Husk gave Angel after Angel spilled his guts to him wasnt sheer pity or guilt but a look of understanding. We have no idea how long Husk's soul has been alastors to play with and it feels pretty safe to assume he's tried to do anything in his power to get out of his deal. He exausted every last option and completely resigned himself to his fate until he saw someone going through what he had to. It feels like he doesn't want a light as bright as Angel's to get dimmed down to his level so he told him the words he wished to hear back when he still had something to believe in.
I fully believe the gold tooth thing and the theory that Val’s saliva is an addictive substance (so he’s both literally and figuratively poison to Angel).
Poison destroys you but Loser, Baby builds you back up 😌
I saw somewhere that some moths have saliva that makes their prey easier to subdue! Probably why he licked Charlie before asking her to work for him, and it probably affects his abusive relationship with Angel
Vox has likely accumulated more power and influence since he supposedly died in the 1950s while Valentino died in the 1970s.
Also: Valentino's a moth, so Vox is basically a lamp to him.
I have been seeing a lot of that lately, that moths are attracted to blue light, and I am LIVING for it
As I understand it, the way the Vees are set up; Valentino is the brawn, Vox is the brains, and Velvet is the backbone (spirit)
Val is physically the strongest and as he said in ep2 he "employs every down on their luck person in hell" meaning he probably has a lot of muscle he can call on. He is however, very temperamental and not that bright, which is why he needs Vox and Velvet to run things and make the plans.
Husk is voiced by Kieth David. He's been in quite a few movies. Off the top of my head: The Thing (1982), Armageddon (1998), and They Live (1988)
Princess and the frog
chronicles of riddick
Angel Dust is imo the most tragic character in the show
Full agree
💜 I just want Angel to get his happily ever after more then any character in this show.
me too
That sudden switch in tone in the last few seconds of the Poison song absolutely destroyed me. I know we saw little glimpses of his real self through the mask earlier in the video, but that tone, in the end, just demonstrated his desperation, despair, and lack of autonomy so well. I just want our boy to come out of all of this on top.
Yeah this... this is when it really gets good, reconnects to the show's emotional center. Such an amazing episode, and the abuse and other psychological elements really are just perfect.
And it's true that Charlie tried to do the right thing, and it's also true that walking in on something you don't know the ramifications of, or trying to rescue someone from an abusive situation without a plan, can make it worse in the meantime...
Also damn Keith David really makes Husk stand out so well. His song is well written too as a character piece, they really nailed the AA style commiseration that CAN help when someone else really does understand the kinds of places you've been.
No reaction to Charlie's most adorkable apology? ;(
I tried, but for whatever reason copyright kept blocking that part of the video when I left it in. Not demonitized, fully blocked. I have no idea why some channels can get away with so much more than me :(
@@chicanimereacts I think they pull a bunch of tricks, like mirroring the video, color shifting, and messing with the audio. Though I have seen a couple that just fully put the entire episode up completely unaltered and it mystifies me too.
RUclips’s algorithms are coo-coo bananas in what they block and don’t
Thanks for the reaction. It was one of the better ones.
Hazbin Hotel episode 4 was tough for me also but I don't regret watching it because the lessons was really good
And the start of Husk and Angel friendship was Buteyfull
You're actually on point with the gold tooth thing
Not sure if it's been confirmed though
I haven't seen anyone else discussing it, tbh, and it had me thinking I was barking up the wrong tree, but I'm glad you agree!
This episode makes me tear up every time. Poison is one of the best songs, in my opinion, because you hear it in Angel’s voice as he slips for the second verse, but puts that facade back on for the second chorus and then completely breaks the third time around
I actually like how Valentino is on the power scale. Despite his control over Angel, Val in reality is just a pathetic, insecure, piss baby throwing tantrums the moment something doesn't go his way. He is not as powerful as he believes and definitely not as intelligent considering how Vox easily manipulates him. He's weak and the only reason he has as much power as he has is due to the souls he has under contract. The Vees as a whole are nothing without each other and their contracts.
It goes
Lucifer n Lilith
Charlie
The Goetias/SDeadlySins
SDeadlySins/Goetias
The Overlords (the Vees are here)
Everybody else
Finally, someone said it!!!
Mon ami
❤ loser, baby best episode and song
Unrelated to the video, but has anyone ever told you that you kinda sound like Kate Siegel?
no, but thanks!
Vox isn't really above Valentino in the whole power dynamic thing; He's Val's boyfriend. So he has a little extra influence over him.
They arent boyfriends theyve been confirmed to be friends with benefits
@@stardrawssart4523 Oh, fair enough. Still, my point stands.
Also its kind of a power synergy with all three V's, social media with Velvette, TV and advertisement marketing with Vox and Valentinos porn industry, they compliment eachother in their own twisted way, which is why Vox's history with Alastor and his radio medium makes sense because with him they'd be complete but he refused
Vox has basically been stated to be the main villain among the three, he's the top dog.
Powerwise, let's pretend the 3 V's are equal in demon power. Vox is in charge, indicated by his building/tower being taller, because he can and does manipulate Val and Velvet to get things his way whilst letting them think it was their idea.
10/!0 Great Video !
Charlie could not get Angel of his deal only Lucifer or Valentino could even though she’s the princess you may not believe me but it’s the truth
Theoretically she could just kill Valentino to solve that issue but she never would do that as that's not the way she operates.
No to go tooth means you are your soul has been sold turn off my name is husk
