Having spent over two years travelling in our DIY self converted campervan, we have been using these portable solar generators for quite sometime now.
We are often asked if they are a good solution for off grid power, especially for motorhomes that need to upgrade their electrical set up to spend more time off grid.
We've been asked a lot about the eco flow power stations and in particular what size to go for and which one is best, so, given the opportunity we tested one out!
We were also genuinely shocked what this brand agreed to let us do with it afterwards, especially as we didn't really want to make any more power bank reviews!
So hopefully, to all those taking for our opinion and if this is a viable solution, then this video covers that.
We always love hearing what you lot think in the comments so do let us know, and as always, thank you for watching!

usual high standard, good research and delivered by someone who would know how it can help with van life, putting your knowledge of developing an own build van into you review is what makes these so good. Also if the supplier discounts or gifts the product you deserve for your honest opinions, take the freebies you earn them via your research, and time
Thanks Ian
@@campervibeTry the new smaller Ecoflow Delta 2. 😉
well done Lou, I wondered how you were going to tackle another review on a power pack, I should not have worried brilliant as always and it is obvious why they were so keen for you to review it, and lucky Mat for having a mate like you
Thanks so much Mervyn 😀😀
@@campervibe The discount finished on 17th June - you put this video out on 17th around 6pm !! (well, according to utube). Not much time, or no time at all if you didn't pick this up until (like me) just after midnight on the 18th !! I think you have to tell these promoters that it takes a while to test something, then to get the video done, then not everybody is going to see it immediately . . . so the discount dates have to be realistic for them to get the influx of buyers that they are hoping for. I hope the company involved here reads these comnents ... 👍
@@campervibe oh, my mistake ... its up to 17th JULY that's good then ... great 🤣👍💯✔
Exactly the video I was looking for, addressing all the van power issues I’ve been mulling. Thank you so much for taking the time to do a proper review including self install costings for comparison.
We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
One of the best realistic reviews of solar generators I have seen so far. Another advantage of this system if you have the extra external solar panel kit is you can park the van in the shade to keep cool whilst still using the system, handy for us pet owners who need to keep the van cool during those hot days.
That’s a brilliant point! I hadn’t even considered that! 😀😀
Great objective video. We got a delta max 2000 based on John & Mandy’s recommendation and can back up everything you said. It’s perfect to power our factory motorhome off grid without drilling holes and understanding all the electrics. Thanks Lou!
🥳🥳🥳😀😀
Great job Lou, you always give an excellent and honest opinion and that’s what I like. By the end of this year we will be spending more time off grid. I’ve watched countless reviews on the Max and it comes across as just what I’m looking for. We have a factory built conversion and I have no electrical expertise so this will make life a lot easier. I don’t want to keep moving it about in the van so will have to consider the location and the room to fit it. Thanks for sharing 👍Xx
this was the best review ever! I want more! thorough but concise. sticking to the point and important stuff. I do love your travel videos as well. you are just th best (both of you of course!) 😍
Aw thanks 😊
I'm going to doing my own van conversion once I hve saved up the money and reviews like this are really helpful to me. They help me to make decisions on what to use in my van, which brands ect. Keep it going! x
Excellent review Lou. I’ve seen dozens before but you put into the most understandable way possible. Comparing it to your system was great. To me the capacity of them is more important than the maximum output and you explained it perfectly. Please do some more on your photography channel, again you explain things perfectly for me.
Hi Dave could you let me know where to find her photography channel please as I can’t seem to find a link . Many Thanks
@@nannybluebelle8643 ruclips.net/user/LouiseStockbridge
Hi it’s Louise Stockbridge
I think once we are back in the swing of things she will do some more stuff on there 😀
You don't need any reviews to tell you the capacity of batteries. Just look at the manufacturer's website
This was SO helpful. We are planning our first van build in 2023, and wanted a simple plug-and-play type of solution! 🎉
I’ve watched so many power pack reviews......but I will say that is the best by a mile.
Well done Lou ! And many thanks.
Thank you
At last! A clear and straightforward description of a no brainer alternative to tackling the minefield of upgrading the electrics of a commercially produced van. Job done.
Another excellent review. Very informative. In plain English.
I’ve already bought the delta mini (1400W) which is perfect for my off grid workshop with solar panels to constantly recharge.
Yes, they are expensive, especially with the solar panels, but you get what you pay for, so yes, would also definitely recommend as well.
My only gripe is that the 3 pin power outlets are located on the other side to the display, but then I use the app to control them so not a major problem.
Thank you Lou for your honest unbiased opinion, always love your uploads. ❤️😊
Really glad you did another power bank review because you're so thorough and clear even for a non-technical person to understand.
Cheers Hannah
Thank you. Great breakdown comparing portable power to built in. I did this comparison myself and decided that portability was the best option for my specific needs. I agree with your explanation of the plusses and minuses. Ecoflow also offers a new dual fuel generator which may be a great winter power option.
Your waffle is always interesting and informative and an honest appraisal of each product featured. l thouroughly enjoy watching you both on your travels, the presentation and quality of the videos is of a professional standard. The 2 min tours are also very enjoyable and the banter and innuendo between you both is great Thanks for sharing. xx
Thanks James, glad you are enjoying them 😀
Another great video!
After doing my research, I opted for the Bluetti AC200MAX with additional battery. It also has a 100w USB-C, 2 X USB-A 18w and 2 standard USB. In addition, it has 2 X 15w wireless charging pads built in and 4 X 240v sockets.
The performance is incredible and I’ve successfully run my air-con and my Alde heating/water. I use a matching Bluetti SP350 panel and have achieved 328w from it.
There’s no denying these beasts are heavy. As someone who is definitely not an eco-warrior, it is wonderfully satisfying to even brew a pot of coffee and and make a sausage sandwich purely with the power of the sun. Yes, it’ll take a while to reach break-even but I’m cool with that.
Nice, you got to get what’s right for you and your needs 😀
Outstanding Lou - with a glimpse of the little one too. I love ALL of your content, never fails the tests of honesty, informative, loving relationships (with warts and all of course), fun and laughter. More power for your toys, no that's wrong, more power to your elbows - no that's not right either, I am sure you know what i mean?
😂 we know what you mean
Respect Lou. I thought this was going to be yet another promotion video. I'm pleased I watched it instead of moving on by. I have even learnt from it. Hats off to you for helping your friend out.
Thanks Ian
Lou, this is the best power bank video I have seen. You have explained it very eloquently and in simple terms, so a duffer like me understands!
Purchased one today since they had a sale. Excited to try it out!
Great review thank you. So pleased to know that the power bank I bought on a hunch because I don't have a great understanding of electrics for our new Auto-Trail built Expedition. We charge it up at home or on site when we inevitably have to go to a campsite for fresh water and dump grey waste.
Next I would like to get solar so we stay off grid longer. As we now have two cassettes fresh water would be our only limit to time off grid them and water is probably the easiest of the elements needed for the offgrid in the van.
Good to know this was one of our better decisions.
Superb and comprehensive review. This looks perfect as an additional 'back-up' supply for a narrowboat. Thank you!
OMG! I think the first 10 minutes my laptop had some sort of bug problem, Lou was speaking in a strange foreign language. After that, it all settled down again....phew. As ever, a really informative vlog and for the electrically uneducated among us you do help a lot. Looks and sounds like an amazing system. Now can we go back to watching you and the 'snack bandit' getting out and about and giving us all some more fabulous top tips on places to go and things to see. Awesome as usual, such a talent.
😂😂 no that’s just her not your laptop
We absolutely love ours, so was interested to see your take on it. They really do seem like the best on the market right now, we can now edit videos on both laptops at once which is a miracle lol! Used to overheat and kill our van batteries, but this thing is a machine 💪💪 thanks for the review and quality research 🥰 good to know we aren't just biased it really is the best lol
It’s pretty ironic that the video you didn’t want to make turned out to be one of the best reviews I’ve seen of it!🤘🏼So so nice that you gave it away to help a friend too….how do I get on that list😉
big thumbs up, I genuinely feel the way these things are going building vans with standard electrical system will soon be a thing of the past👍🏼
Great video, one of the most informative I’ve seen on this brand. Thank you. X
I am absolutely sick of seeing power pack pack video's but you have the knack of making everything interesting and entertaining and well done in gifting to your friend! x
Thanks Jane
Have an EcoFlow (River 600 MAX) in my RV, and must say it's stellar. My setup is that I use the EcoFlow with the brand solar panels when I have sun to tap into, and petrol generator for when I need to fastcharge the EcoFlow or when I need to charge my lithium battery. I use the EcoFlow to run my laptop for working on my images on the road and as my entertainment center in the evening. When I use it to run my laptop setup it also runs an external ASUS ProArt screen along with my laptop.
Best review I've seen on the power station. So clear and easy to understand. Thanks.
😀😀
Having looked at many and watched many vlogs on solar chargers can I say your is as usual right up there, informative and covers all the points. I'm torn between eco delta and yetti 3000x so its good to see comparison. Take care
Thanks, hopefully it helps you out a little
Exactly the info I was looking for, a cost comparison between portable battery pack vs fitted system. Thank you very much !!!
Very good review. Installation of a transfer switch on the shore power inlet would allow a nice secure inside installation of the DeltaMax. I’ve done that in my Airstream and added two Ecoflow Extra Batteries and 600W of rooftop solar for a system that meets our boondocking needs.
I bought one as a back up for the home and for the occasional excursion. Happy with it.
Ya getting good at this😂😂 Brilliant vid, very well explained, don’t need any more info, you covered it all.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
😂🥳🥳
Louise, like you I'm pretty fed up with freebie eco flow posts, however, your post was really informative and addressed most of the questions I had regarding whether it could be used as a replacement for electrical installation. What promised to be a dull watch was actually pretty interesting. Well done!
Glad it was of some use Robert 😀
Really helpful video Lou. You covered all the points that interested me.
Absolutely brilliant. You are a natural communicator and get to the nub of the matter with great clarity. I don’t even have a van yet, but have been looking into power banks and the Ecoflow range look amazing and particularly that one you reviewed . Well done . You could talk about paint drying and it would still be interesting! Love all your videos technical or not, both with and without Emily.
Thanks Sarah, glad you enjoyed it
Well done Lou, great review, and like you say, the easy option for those that have no idea about electrics
Thanks for the video. I'm seriously considering this one or bigger for my lorry tiny home. Great watch cheers Paul
I have a home DIY off grid solar panel set up but I'm going to tell you I absolutely love my ecoflows, I have a few of them of various sizes.
This is what all the other reviewers have missed, I was looking at upgrading my bought van to lithium (even went to the same place you got your batteries) but after all the faff and cost I realised I would only have a system that eventually would be sold with the van in the future. This way I will always own and have the upgrade👌
Very interesting Lou, great to see a comparison with the cost of having a system installed for an off the shelf van. Good review, well done.
Really great, thorough review and much appreciated for a completely honest summary 👍
Nice Review! I just got one for myself and can't wait to use it next camping season. Another advantage that i can think of is portability...
The video I really want to watch .. yet I did and I enjoyed it !
Great take on the pros and cons
excellent video, thanks. I have been considering the best way forward on my self build and you have helped me to make up my mind. Thx
Very good information, thank you very much. I like both you tech videos and the travel. You do a great job. Happy travels.
Good honest, informative and well explained review. I would also guess it would be useful to throw in the back of the car so you could have power when you got back from an overnight wild camp.
Good review, Lou. Very helpful for me right now.
Fantastic video, have no understanding of electronics and still understood and enjoyed watching.
That’s great 😃
Don't watch you channel, but bloody el, that was exactly how I would like all reviews to be, informative concise and to the point.
Thanks for the info 👍
You did that so well Louise!!
Living in Florida, we’re prone to lose power at any moment. We can move our Ecoflow (w/extra batts) from van to home (via a transfer switch) using a Parkworld 886115A…10ga (2) 15a male plugs Y adapted to (1) L14-30 plug from Parkworld on Amazon. Truly portable and powerful. Excellent video. Thanks.
I work on boat electrical systems as a second job. This is a fantastic knowledgeable video.
Thanks Samantha
Great review, Lou. Even though quite a few You Tubers are reviewing Ecoflow, yours was one of the best, if not the best !!!
Cheers 🙂
Hi Louise, enjoyed your video.........I don't have a camper van or need or even understood most of the stuff you were explaining, just nice to see you.
Aw thanks Pauline 😀
Thank you Lou, I was thinking of getting solar panels for my motorhome although I'm not full time " yet "
Cracking review and without the waffle, seriously thinking about this after seeing your review / recommendation.
Thank you, keep up the good work / and be happy both of you 😊
Our pleasure 🙂
I understood about 17% of the review and stayed for the good company. Good of you for paying it forward to Matt.
😀😀
Nice one Lou, neatly done. And well done you for passing the unit on to a neady cause. We chose the Delta mini after reviewing our needs against what we already have in our van. If I was fitting out another van, I'd try to have as many options as I could and these power banks are well worth the cost if you can afford it, but weight needs to be considered (main reason we chose the smaller Delta mini) and the number of recharges the units can take needs exploring I feel. 👋
Plus the mini has the app to monitor and control the functions which is a plus. Not sure if the larger ones have the app?
WELL DONE and KUDOS to Matt for getting this :) It is MASSIVE in capacity and cost, and a little too much for my minVan:) ALL THE BEST and Cheers ! :)
Another great informative videos. I will always watch yours.
Thank you both :)
Thank you 🙂love the video as usual ❤ I definitely want the delta mini for my van. I have no inverter and the mini will power everything I need ❤
Good pieces of kit
Ecoflow ia a beast.. Love my Bluetti for travel, and their latest one has "Turbo" charging also so I expect them to have more come out with this.
Superb review. Best I've seen on this topic. I'm a retired electrical engineer and worked on renewables for 30 years so am familiar with DC wiring batteries etc. I haven't got a van yet but if I did I would reduce power use and simplify any wiring, and have minimal luxuries similar to a T2 VW camper incomplexity but post 2015 van due to dpf issues(preferably petrol not hybrid)but with a portable Lithium ion Po4 battery. I just think it enhances the experience and keeps stress levels low! Eric 3njoys earth youtube van design tuturial the ultimate for me but with portable battery. Everyone has different needs but this would work for me and many people having seen alot of van build videos.
Hi lou that was a good revue well done mate. Like your travels round different places as well. 😉
😀😀
Great review Lou . We have just treated ourselves to the model down from the one you reviewed . Very happy with it so far
🥳🥳🥳
Great video, it’s plug and play simple for people who has no clue. Today is 4th July 2022 and my Delta Pro came. One thing you did not mention you can charge it in a EV station for about £5. I to have a MotorHome mine is 3600w weight 100lb shame it’s bigger than your one you have there. Yours fits under our seats mine is way to big. Having those big window on his van he can put 100w solar panel in the window and still drive. I am 5ft4 and with my panels I can see my clocks my window wiper and mirrors with out moving my body just my head as normal so saying that you can charge with cig lighter and solar at the same time. Great video even better product. Thanks for sharing Ray K. UK. YNWA.
Great video. If possible wait for new ECO flows or go for top of the range Delta Max Pro if you have a big enough wallet as the battery life cycles are much longer in the lithium iron phosphate batteries.
Hello Lou must say genni all the way.we used a genius for years but now we have lots of solar and 2x 100amp batteries plus a small inverter.
We fulltime and if massive power was needed then a fixed on board genni , petrol or diesel. Diesel direct from the van tank. We charge , 2xphones 2x tablets, hoover, shaver, 2x fans, watch TV, lights etc.
Thank you , this is just what we needed . We have so much to learn I am so grateful for what you share . You are also both very entertaining . Can’t fault anyone who travels with a cat 😻😻
I love Ecoflow.. I can run 3 litre instant pot with this .. yet to try all the attachments.. I will recommend it ❤️
Great video
Thank you
Take care and stay safe
Thanks, Lou. It convinced me for my build; I have two left hands...
😂😂🥳
A most comprehensive video Lou, without going over the top.
Cheers Mike
Great Lou was looking at that make , thanks a lot. You and Emily have a nice week
And you 😀
That was very informative and incredibly useful. I might get one of those if and when I can afford one for my RV.
excellent review thanks, I'm in the contemplative stage and this one might just be thr right one for me. thank you for the detail
My pleasure
Great video Lou, I think if i'm gonna add a power bank to our van i'll go with one.
Brilliant vlog!!! In the process of buying a van!!!
Great review . Thanks and food for thought for starting my van build 👍
You’ve answered the question I’ve been pondering 🤔 thanks 🙏 x
Amazing 🙌
Absolutely Bloody Brilliant Lou . . That was by far the best description I have ever heard on powering a van / off grid .. I would have your set up for power in your van and I would also have a 1000watt Ecoflow as a back up , plus being portable , I could go out on a lake and have a coffee 😁😁. This company made a fantastic choice in asking you to do a review on there product . You look fantastic , sound fantastic and knew what you were talking about . All up a win win ..aussie bob ..
Cheers Bob
If I had a camper van I'd have brought one just from this video. But it has given me food for thought on reducing my current energy bills at home. I could run lights, tv's, chargers, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, small microwave, internet, fans, PC etc. All from this box. Throw in a little cable to a couple of rooms and lets face it, we generally only use lounge and bedroom 90% of the time, so would be easy to do. During the summer it would be cost effective with the right solar panels and from the initial outlay it would pay for itself withing 3-4 years.
Thanks Lou I’ve been considering this for a little while and think maybe its the one for us. Hopefully allowing us to get off campsites more often too which will of course saves us money in the long run. 😀👍🏻
🥳🥳🥳
This is an excellent review, probably the best I have seen on these battery packs. Thanks for all the effort you have put into this. Now all I need is the money to buy one ;-)
😆 thanks
Amazing Lou
That has got to be the best realistic review of the two alternative ways of powering your van ❤️👍 a great alternative and easy way to power a van , well done my girl ❤️❤️🙏🙏 stay safe and what a review 👌👌👌
Cheers John
Great review. All the best to you and yours. Rab
Brilliant review lass .that company is going to make a mint from this. I normally get board with such promotions but you had me engaged while I was multi tasking.. cheers to you both. From NZ
😀😀
Hi. Have the 2000 Max and an additional 2000 battery plus the 400w. panels and had a back order of the solar tacker that's just arrived - expensive at £3k and the whole shebang for about £8k but as an ardent prepper really worth it - so much piece of mind. Also have a litlle electric Citroen Ami and yet to find precisely how to charge the quad from the Delta Max - seems to take forever ... should I run on X Boost setting ?! Really impressed with the whole setup and nice to have it all from the same brand - only thing left is the generator to buy but really no need for this however can see it can get you out of a hole on cloudy/dull days... build quality of everything is brilliant - see Hampshire Generators wensite in the UK who supplied all my kit. Again - 1 x 2000 Delta Max ; 1 x add on powerbank 2000; 400w solar panel and finally the solar tracker... happy to run small hob and oven in the garden - ( Robert Dyas about £100; and a small fridge from same source for the same sort of money) - sorted. Good to see your vid. confirmed my feelings ...
Thank you so so much !! Gosh you’re brilliant . Blessings of peace abundance and love always 🙏🏼🤍🙏🏼🤍🙏🏼
Excellent review, I'm an electronic engineer - you've a very good understanding of what you're talking about..👍
Thanks, glad it was understandable 😀
The best review I have seen Lou, now can you get Ecoflow to send you their complete small home unit RV kits for another excellent review.
😆 cheers Brian
Best review I’ve seen on here great Job 👍🏻
Thanks
Excellent review, love my Delta Mini. Like the fact I can store in house in cooler environment as built in lithium more temp. sensitive..check Ecoflow warranty re this.
We sleep on or van & it is not our van ok having said this we have just got the EcoFlow DELTA 2 Portable Power Station with a EB & omg we use this for our sandwich maker, tassimo machine, in the winter a oil filled radiator to keep her in doors warm we will use this to charge her mobility scooter up we have laptops phones, tablets & a 32 in Tv & the set up we have is going to be a game changer Having said this the contract on the van ends in two years time so I am dafo going to Buy a Luton Van with a lift at the back for her mobility scooter great review the fast charge is why we went for this over the other power stations ps we love you guys
Thank you Lou you did great review 🥰
Great review. 👍🏻 I have only just seen this review but I missed the discount. I will wait until there is another discount before I buy it
Excellent review, Lou. x
