Please keep making these videos...it's amazing how they help. twenty-four days ago, I had my both my leg and hip amputated. These videos help me to understand why things feel as they do. Of course it's new after surgery and I know things will calm down...but I now know why things feel as they do. Especially the back of my leg...that is actually a quad. The phantom sensation of the leg still being there, is more understandable with your explanation of the quad not feeling like the back of your leg...but...the quad on the front of the leg. I had TR and nerve blocks.
Thank you for these videos! They are such a help to people who have or will have this experience.. your attitude and the way you handle your residual limb give courage to those facing this who are unsure what to do.. thank you for your inspirational videos and your kindness and courage making them!💙🦋💙
It looked great with the removal of excess tissue that probably hindered the use of the prosthesis, your stump was very beautiful and functional, congratulations on your progress, your videos are very useful.
Thanks. It does look remarkably better! I am an O.R. Nurse and have assisted in the operation. But, we never get to see the results of what was done. It is really great for me as a Nurse to follow you along the path you travel!
Oh my goodness! There is soon not any leg left. I hope there will not be needed any more surgery for you. All the best to you and good RUclips channel.
Oh wow what a difference, that will really help you and your prosthetist make a better fitting socket and hopefully it will be so more comfortable to wear when all the swelling settles fully 🤗🦿🤗
Looks great! I hope that helps. I'm still AKA but I've always looked different than everyone I've seen. My bone sort of protrudes a bit and this is where I've acquired a large wound and callous. This didn't happen with my first leg where he fixed it. The second he didn't and it has become a problem.
I had revision surgery 3 weeks ago on my AKA due to lack of tissue on the end of my residual limb that caused reoccurring pressure ulcers. The surgeon cut off about an inch, rounded the bone and pulled up some tissue over the end. This should give me more padding. Good luck to you.
The EDS probably made your before AKA limb saggy and wobbly...are there measures you can take (like eating foods loaded with collagen formation) that will prevent that from happening to this one? I am beyond happy you are healing so well. I wish only the best for you and your family. Have the phantom pains or sensations changed? Did they do a nerve block and TMR with this one?
They didn’t because they only removed fat and skin, they didn’t touch the muscle or bone. I had a TMR/nerve block with the last revision though. I’m sure it was EDS that made it all floppy. I guess less skin and fat there will help it to not get floppy again hopefully. My surgeon was pretty aggressive with removing the excess.
@@AmputeeOT oooooh, was that much excess skin on the first time....it was just firmer and didn't stretch? I was asking about the nerve block and such because of nerve paths when removing the skin. I mean there wasn't 2" of nerves under the excess skin they cut? I don't know how to ask that...if it was confusing, never mind 🤣. By the way, was it a plastic surgeon?
Yes it was a plastic surgeon. They just did IV pain meds. There are nerves there just lie there are nerves anywhere but they aren’t big and didn’t necessitate a nerve block.
Well, you look tons better since the surgery...which leads me to wonder if you weren't suffering more than you think with it flabbier. I'm glad you are feeling and looking better.
If you're still struggling, it was Cymbalta that made the difference for me. I only needed a low dose and no side effects. After 4 months I didn't need it anymore. Hope this helps someone.
Which of your doctors or medical team diagnosed your skin issue, and what exactly was it called? I am a bka (2 yrd) and have had 2 revisions after not being able to wear prosthetic due to pain. Imaging shows nothing wrong, but there clearly is something. My other only choice is to do an aka, but I'm being told I could have the same issue because it is not clear. No nerves show on xrays, mri's or ct scans. Just curious about details of ur skin / pain.
Well. It doesnt easy to be amputated, but if you save your life in that way, it is good. Some times I have heard from amputee devotes men: the shorter the better. Ok Many greetings for you. I wish you dont need further more surgeris.

It look much better than before and thanks for sharing your videos I really enjoy watching them
That looks really great after the revision. Here's hoping that was the last one!

have you had trouble securing your residual leg to the prosthetic for walking
Amazing difference!
I have come to think that performing surgery of this type is like making a sculpture, that the artist has to model and do the best possible

you are one amazing lady thank you
Eres una mujer valiente te admiro ❤❤❤
wow had no idea how much you had before the surgery!
Your stump its sooo beautiful 😊😊
I'm needing revision surgery. I keep putting it off. My residual limb is getting more painful by the day.
Much better girl, im a lefty above the knee, Congrats on walking.

Would like to have such a beautiful residual limb for using a prosthesis. Thanks for sharing your story.
Much, much, better! How's the pain?
WHAT KIND OF SOCKET DO YOU HAVE. I HAVE SUCTION VALVE . I'M SUPPOSE TO GET A LOCKING DEVICE. MY LEG IS HYDROLOGIC PROSCETIC LEG.
I HAVE ABOUT SIX AND HALF OF LEG LEFT.
Was your recovery from this second surgery painful? How did you ambulate while the wound healed and do you think it was worth doing?
It wasn’t very painful, I only took meds like 3 days. I used my chair until it healed.

So you had the opposite problem I had!
Yes! During my amputation 2 years ago (due to trauma) they left my leg very long. After shrinking the distal end was just skin and bone.
My bone is protruding too! I fell when I still had staples, the bone came to the end and busted out the staples. I landed straight on it.

I’ve been taking gabapentin since 2012 and I still have Phantom pain Do you have any suggestions

have you considered osseointegration?
Wow! Huge difference.
