Fill the ridges in the stock with epoxy and sand it down so it’s actually free floated. Had a bunch of flyers with mine until I did that. Shoots 1 MOA all day long with Wolf Military Classic HP’s now. Perfect coyote medicine. Oh and throw a brake on it, too.
Got mine today for around $550!!! Yeah that's probably more than what its worth, but considering they are near impossible to find these days I feel pretty lucky. All those AK guys been buying these things up! Ha
I have this rifle but it's slightly different. Most noticeably, the bolt handle is black. I've got over 200 rounds through it and it's never had any extraction problems.
Recently got the BCA AR upper in this caliber and It's a dream for hogs. I bet that ranch rifle of yours will do the trick real well! Like you mentioned, scopes that allow low low zoom for close shots are a great idea with this round. It hits real hard at the 50 to 100 yd distance. I got super tired of 556 for hogs. Got to step it up if you're going for larger pigs when they start running.
I came so close on a number of different occasions buying the 300blk version. I'm very glad I held off and got the x39. That sucks your having issues with yours, I've heard that caliber has some accuracy issues. Thanks for watching!
I know exactly what your weather has been, so I'd guess a minute or two for cool down was about all you needed! Lol This cold windy weather has sure made the 22lr shooting a little iffy! Thanks for the video FYI if you'd like to try some SK Long Range Match the next time you drag a 22 out let me know I've got a ton of it and I'd be happy to donate a couple boxes o
I can attest to the fact that this is not true. Promag 10 rounders seat just fine in mine, I have 2. This after I sent the factory Ruger 10 round mag back, which had a problem nose diving the last 1 or 2 rounds. The Ruger 5 and 20 round mags worked fine, btw.
I want to get a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9×50 1-inch tube Riflescope for my American Ruger Ranch Rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm. What height scope rings would work best? Low or medium?
I didn't know you could swap the mag well out! That's worth knowing. Nice gun, but having owned Ruger Americans in other calibers, I'll stick with my CZ527 in 7.62x39. Hard to beat the quality, and it has an amazing trigger, but 5 round mags only. If you want more capacity, Ruger it has to be! Thanks for a great video.
I heard Ruger recommends shooting 200 rounds of brass cased ammo before shooting steel cased ammo. Not sure if that has anything to do with the weak extractions?
I was really hoping those PPU soft points would shoot better, I’ve been looking at ordering a case of them. Do you think you could shoot another group with them on a cold barrel? Im a huge gun nerd and own a ton of guns but that little ranch rifle fits a perfect nitch as a inexpensive, light weight, beater, truck gun. I use the living hell out of mine. I always come back to it. Just FYI FMJs work great on pigs in a pinch. Not sure why, I’ll never use FMJ’s on anything else, but my theory is it punches through that shoulder plate better then any other offering in the caliber.
Any idea how this rifle does with corrosive Bulk Military Surplus ammo ? Being a bolt rifle, it is easy to clean well , so that should make it pretty easy to clean well after shooting the corrosive. But I am curious if you have ever used it ??
why use corrosive when there is so much cheap berdan primed ammo available? If you swab out the corrosive stuff after shooting I don’t think you’d have problems, pretty sure this rifle is chrome lined barrel and chamber, I’d double check that.
@@MJA5 my comment was from a good while ago (a year ago). I have since been putting lots of corrosive through mine and have had zero issues. I clean my rifle after every range day so I am not worried about corrosion. This rifle with cheap surplus ammo means LOTS of range time. This is my new fav range rifle. Now that the cheap non-corrosive is pretty none existent in my area (cheapest option other than bulk is $25 for 20 rounds), I’m happy it worked out
@@MJA5 no worries , all good my friend !! The Ranch is SO EASY to clean and so fun to shoot , it really is hard to beat when you have it in 7.62x39 with the “cheap” ammo option. 10/10
@@MikeyGee001 I got mine recently and was frankly shocked at how it grouped what I always considered to be “low grade” ammo, but my sensibilities are telling me that ammo is very consistently manufactured, albeit not pretty, but it proved to be good combat ammo. I probably put too much and too nice of an optic on mine, but I would sling that rifle as a trail or camp gun and not worry if it got muddy or if it banged into stuff. It’s a compelling little rifle. Cheers to you, sir!
With some hand load you probably will have better groups. Cost more than steel case. But have better groups with my ar 15- 7.62x39 3/4 and less depending on powder and bullet. Great close range deer gun
I have the same model you have and you can not change out he this mag well . However Ruger did on its new stock molds make mag well inserts for AR , AI and rotary mags. Also the bolts are milled out for the caliber of the rifle. I believe, not sure, that the new style stock with a AR mag well insert will work with our rifle and bolt. I have AR rifle in 762x39 using AR mags . It would nice to us the same mag for both rifles.
There is actually another fella here on YT that has done the conversion and it does work. Like I said though I'm not really a fan of the mag release for the AR15 mags so I'm going to leave mine the way it is. But its definitely an option for those who look to standardize mag systems. Thanks for watching!
My copy of this rifle puts the really cheap russian and serb ammo nearly in the same hole at 100. It does not like the Winchester white box nearly as well.
How does chinese copperwash surplus run? Same problem? Really hoping not because I have a bit of it lol I haven't shot it yet but snap caps would not extract. I fed a live round of copperwash and it extracted but that was an unfired case
just bought both 7.62 and 5.56, this video is packed with great information and had answered most of my questions. nicely done!
Killer chamber choice. This rifle looks like fun and function. Thanks for making the video!
I agree for shooting cheapo steel case I'm not sure how you could do any better. thanks for watching buddy.
Love mine! I’m so happy I got mine before the panic!
Indeed I agree. I should have got one when they came out lol. Glad I got one now though. Thanks for watching!
I do not know if anyone answered the question, but yes you can purchase from Ruger an adaptor for 7.62 AR mags. I have one and it works great.

This is the rifle I should have bought. I purchased the 300 blackout version and it has been a problem child.
That’s too bad, I was debating on buying the 300 BO because I want to use it for hog and deer. What issues have you had?

Nice little bug out rifle. It's a keeper
Would be a great Bug out gun. Especially with a smaller optic to cut down on some of the weight. Thanks for watching!
It is a fun rifle to shot. That rifle with good subsonic ammo is very quiet. I use it for hogs most of the time
Ive got some subs Im gonna use for a video shooting the rifle suppressed. Thanks for watching!
Another great video, I really enjoy range time with my Ruger ranch 7.62 x39 and have been able to find TulAmmo lately and some Wolf
Thanks for watching! I agree this rifle is just a blast!
Nuthin fancy did a really good review of this rifle recently. With a suppressor it really seemed to settle the gun down and shrink the groups. 👍👍🇺🇸
Should have some suppressed shooting of this gun up in the next few weeks. thanks for watching!
Great rifle , great review , wonder if Howa makes that caliber.
I believe you can get the Howa mini-action chambered in x39. Thanks for watching!
Do not buy ProMag Magazines for the Ruger American 7.62x39, they do not seat at all.

The Ruger American also has a threaded barrel for a flash suppressor.
And an ambidextrous safety that is intuitive to use.
Ruger will eat the CZ for breakfast!
Hey man I’m wondering what Bipod I should get for it I don’t know what to look ?
Want the 7.62 for long distance practice, and rounds are common. 556 cause why not!

Awesome review, and nice rifle!
Thanks buddy!
Something to try. Bill the bag closer to you. Not so close to the fore end. Find it makes a difference on cheap stocks.

By the size of the groups it looks like your scope was coming loose.
The Ruger AR assembly as found on the grendel is horrible. Loose and wobbly. The Ruger Mini thirty set up is much better.
