- When carp fishing smaller venues, short to medium range and travelling light. Often a spod rod is not included within the set up or maybe you don't own one. This isn't a problem though, as Harry Charrington shows in this video, spodding with your normal fishing rods can be achieved easily and efficiently.

Thank you Harry, for solving a dilemma I've had for the past two weeks! I've needed to get my bait cast out further (and kept somewhat together) but I don't own a Spod Rod. After spending a boat load of money on my carp fishing hobby, you've given me an answer to my problem that wont require a bank loan🙄

ive just found this and for the last two months over my sessions ive a mini spomb and 18lb main line and hitting 67 yards on a large shallow lake and loving the results i use 9 ft 3lb tc rods i also travel to the lake on my quad hence the small gear
Good idea. I’ve got a beach caster rod I’m going to use that for my spomb for now.

I’ve been doing this for years now, works well if you’re using solid bag stems and using a loop in the end of your mainline 👍🏻

Great method 👍 I've been using a similar method with a helicopter rig, shock leader and leader (when allowed). Mark up with the lead. Clip on a spom and bait up. Then clip on the lead and rig and start fishing .... simples 👐

ugl i havent been fishing in ages literally dont have time anymore as i go to college 5 days a week then weekends im working starting to do my head in i cant go fishing so this video is very needed

I use a 3/3.25lb test curve Carp rod with 50lb braid and and med/small spod and its been fine.

Decent video! I’ve been doing this for years. Much better to put the spomb on where the rig would go instead though Harry 👍🙌

Certain mate just watched it again as you made me think twice and yep bit risky on the lead clip as could slip and lose the spomb 😃
Both ways work however doing that would bend the Kwik change swivel and it could pop back off on impact with the water. Attached to the clip is more secure 👍
Been doing this years never seen no one else do it especially floater fishing big pits saves bringing a spod rod

I have a 12ft 3lb tc rod with 18lb mono - would a medium size spomb be safe to use with this setup?

Taking 2/3 rods, does a spod rod really take up that much extra space lol
If you carry your gear it makes a difference
@@DW14974 nah most people have barrows these days and a lot of spod rods attach to rod bags. Not much extra weight or bulk
This video is mainly aimed at anglers who don’t own a spod rod, perhaps youngsters or beginners. But also if you are fishing small lakes it shows there is no need to carry that extra gear 👍
@@lewisgregory263 most people but not all. I see people turn up to a two acre lake for a day session with a mountain of kit. Why? I can comfortably carry everything I need

Would someone from fox ever use an item / items of tackle from another company if their company doesn't make it themselves?
Is it a contract that you can only use items from your own brand , even if it hindered your angling?
Say for example the Nash baiting pole or something similar?
Not just for camera but in their own fishing?
Yeah they do dude. there ain't that much beef between company's, just the numptys that dedicate themselves to them. Seen various anglers use the fox crushers, the ridge monkey boiler cutter and the nash bushwacker. You can't deny a good product. Just don't see it on fotage much, but there's 100% darrel peck using a ridge monkey boilie cutter on film.
Yeah we have used baiting poles in some past videos. Whilst we make most equipment we don’t make everything and our anglers can use other brands for such products no problem at all.

If one of the bands does slip you won't know which one. So, you'd need to have 3 to be able to tell which one has slipped compared to the other 2.

You’ll be fine on smaller chucks, up to 50 yards I’d say with 15lb line
One thing I'm honestly confused about you're talking about worrying about your line breaking or your Rod breaking but you're not worried about the little plastic lead clip breaking your spod off that plastic clip will break before your line or Rod 100%
Anyone just cast out a few PVA bags before throwing out the last one with your hook on?
It's much easier & smoother to attach the spomb we're the rig goes, casts much better.
