thank you very much thomas kim. you are the best guide and your video is the best step by step guide in youtube so far i have seen. you really need a big applause.
PROBLEM SOLUTION ....I never post but I really like this project. I tried first and it did not work. Here is what I discovered. First and most important, make sure that the E C B on your transistor is the correct order. There is a difference. Google the Trans that you are using and look at images. It will show you the order. I had to twist my leads around to make it work. Next, if this is still not working, then your coils are way out of frequency. Try this.... make two large coils of exactly the same size. I used 22 gauge wire and only 7 windings. Install the coils in the slots as directed and you should now hear a sound. Now, take some time to play with the coils and experiment for the best effects. Good luck to all.
love your videos. They are simple enough for any youngster to build with common materials and very educational. It would be nice if you find a way to explain how the circuit works. I don't know of anyways that this can be done without talking. Your other experiments are simple enough that require no explanation.
Brilliant presentation. Clear & concise. Clever use of everyday materials. Excellent use of picture within picture for component placement on breadboard. Breadboarding at its best. Works very well. Thank you for posting this video, it is a great teaching aid. Top job mate. Cheers from Australia.
Hi Thomas, I've tried to replicate your circuit on a WISH wishboard breadboard using 2N3904 transistors and I've been really careful with all my pinouts. No joy. I have tried it using a 0.5W 64-ohm speaker and also using a crystal earphone. No joy. One thing puzzles me.Your parts list has only 1 220 microfarad capacitor and you only fit one in the video [no. 44] .Yet the parts list and circuit diagram on the easytreasure website has 2 of 220 microfarad capacitors but no breadboard positions given for the 2nd one. Do I need to use the 2nd one? One other question - you said to someone else that only polyester capacitors work. Why can't ceramic capacitors of the correct values be used? I just cant't figure out what's going wrong, and I'd be grateful for your help. Kind regards, Jimmy
+ali elfar, you used bc547 but you send me a list that the transistors are c1815 are they the same? and someone in the comment said 2n2222 worked also, will any of them will work? thank you
Wow cool, especially the variometer-coil with the glue-Stick. 20 years ago I made a metall detector as well. With pulse-induction-principle - about 1.20 m searching depth. You can have fun at digging out some hidden rubish in the forest.
Your ideers and inventions are so freaking awsome! How about a video about you as a person. Where are you in the world, what do you do for a living, how to you come up with all your ideers and how to you execute them? I what to know who Thomas Kim is! :)
I have tried a thousand times and put all the resistors and transistors nb n 457 and put all kinds of capacitors but to no avail only the luminance and the sound is not there just want to clarify everything with names and numbers not for the puzzles
I have sent Thomas Kim questions but I see that he still never bothers replying to anyone. I spent a lot of time on this circuit and could not succeed. Its just not possible to fit 125 turns of wire on that size glue stick without overlapping turns & I think you must not overlap . I only managed about 70. He only seems to go half way with the turns also. Seems impossible to me to fit 125 turns on it. Did anyone else have this problem?? Also not sure about a couple of the capacitor values at the end.
Sorry Thomas, I forgot to say that the LED lights but no sound apart from an odd crackle when I power on. I have tried using identical coils also but no joy. Any advice would be great. Best, Jimmy
Hi MB, Thanks for your email. Did you have the same problem with trying to fit 125 turns on the glue stick coil? How many turns did you use & did you overlap? I know they must be wound tightly & Thomas doesn't appear to overlap them in the video. So I don't know how many turns he used. The link to easy treasure suggests about 125. Without overlapping turns, I think you'd need a much bigger glue stick! I have made lots of your other circuits, Thomas - the laser activated alarms, occupancy indicator light etc. They're absolutely brilliant & my students found them really interesting. Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, James
Hi Mr Thomas Kim I hope to answer me First, God gives you a wellness and thank you and secondly i built the project more than once, the sound comes out of the speaker continuously with no frequency Iin sound , the sound is still come out , i used 3-mm copper wire Is there income to the number of windings of the parties ? Best regard
End of the last section, how can i connect coin, glue stick and enameled wire to the breadboard? Where should i connect edges. Could you explain end of the last section connect? Thank you for your help. Please answer me quickly.
Hi Thomas, I'm trying your circuit again. Can I ask you a question? When winding the copper wire on the glue stick, is it okay to overlap the coils? In the video, you don't seem to overlap them and you stop just over half way on the stick. How many turns did you use? On the easy treasure website you recommend using 125 turns. I don't think I can fit 125 turns on the glue stick without overlapping them. I would appreciate your advice. Thanks, Thomas. Jimmy
Please can anyone help ! I'm adding the two coils with exactly the same size. But the speaker stays beeping the whole life !! Shouldn't it stop beeping if the values of frequencies are equal ??
original schematic says use two 16v 220uf capacitors , in the description it says one 16v 220uf , but in the video it looks like one 25v 470uf capacitor is used ?
PLease tell me where you have joined the gum stick coil terminals and the winding on wood terminals. Please reply me soon as I am on the end of this and cannot find the proper place to place them
what are the factors that compose constant frequency oscillator in a detector? what are the factors that compose variable frequency oscillator in a detector?

Hi Thomas , If i'm reversing the power supply then the LED is OK but no noise. I tried both C1818 & 2N2222 transistor . I've carefully checked the circuit but could not solve it.Can you help me
helo! Kim, I could not find all the electronic parts you showed in the video, so I want to know if the parts can be substituted with other parts and which parts. Also can you plz tell me what parts should I use to make the detector increase its range of detecting. Do you think we can find all the electronic parts we need to build metal detector from a broken radio parts, tape recorder, stablizers etc etc.
I have to do five minutes explanation about your metal detector. Can you tell me how it works? Why we do that in metal detector? How works metal detector?
o,k the transistor that used in this video is C1815 witch (E-C-B) if you use other transistor with different pinout you should bend it to conform (E-C-B) pinout on the board place

Can the metal be detected , when detector is moved radially towards object?
And what's the maximum range of this project?
Hi . I'm very happy to have found your channel ... and I'm proud of you and your hard work.👍👌🙏

Ingenious idea for using the glue stick as an adjustable coil. I am thinking maybe of using a ferrite instead of the copper plumer's coupling.
Thanks!

a very nice tutorial video sir,,,i wished to know the complete components and the size and no of coil turns thanks for this,,, you're great,,,
the coils have what values? Because both must be of the same value ! thanks

I meant the big loop and the glue stick ?
waiting your answer ...
thnx.

Sir thomas can you give me the part list?please...coz i dont know the other parts name..
Hi mr thomas, I would like to thank you for the number of ceramic capacitors??
Hello friend, I had a question, how many turns are the coils in the Glue stick and the bigger coil ???
Please answer my question??::🙏🙏
hello mr.Thomas thanks for share this video ,can you help me , i create this machine but i dont know the number of the two capacitor please tell me
I have seen the circuit diagram in the given link. I didn't understand its working clearly.can anyone please explain its circuit design ??
Hi,
I built it with several types of coil and turn, still not getting a sound but when I touched 10k resistors near the coils it's picking a noise. Could you please give an advise.
i noticed u used 1 220uf cap and the original sheme says 2. Do you have a sheme of yours?
Where on the board do the coils go to? It is missing this very important step.
Thanks
