"The Oscar goes to Martin Landau. Its shadow goes to Bela Lugosi." So beautiful, and so true. A tour de force by Landau, and if there was some great worldwide disaster in the future so that he'd be known only by this performance, along with above documentary as a starting point so people would know who he was playing, it would be enough to cement his greatness as an actor.

The double jointed and Hungarian line is my favourite in the film because I'm both just in the fingers though.

It was one of the things that drew Burton to the picture, as the friendship between Lugosi and Wood reminded Burton of his own friendship with an old Vincent Price.

The makeup artist has a cool retro Wolfman Jack look going on. Far out. Landau should have got an Oscar for the part in Xfiles. I can’t watch him in it. He conveys the anxiety of the character so well I get a panic attack watching him.

I watched 'Dracula' for the first time in over 20 years ... Now wiser and more temperate with life, I find myself much more appreciating the power of Bela's performance - and, that of the Lyrical photography! - in evoking a sensuous, even erotic, Dream that Lures and Captures you! ... Bela, may God continue to embrace you in his Graces.

Amazing that many people would believe that Lugosi was the way this movie made him seem. He would not have used that language and he and Karloff had a lot of respect for each other and were quite amicable.

@71cm-reports are conflicting. Some say Lugosi DID hate Karloff because Karloff was a bit condescending of him, seeing Lugosi not as an actor, like himself. But others say they did get along somewhat.

Where did you read that BK was condescending? (Correction: "others" say they got along GREAT. The candid behind the scenes photos corroborate this). Since the candid (not posed) photos prove otherwise, I am still very interested in your reply to my question above.

Is this tawdry film the reason why so many Boris Karloff fans are so hostile and angry towards Bela Lugosi? I've met some lovely Karloff fans on here, but I'm baffled by the amount of uncalled-for hate that has been published directed at Bela since. It's a pity this
absurd piece of fiction was touted as a bio and that so many took this parody of a ridiculous performance as gospel when Bela couldn't have been further from this nonsense!

Bigger Karloff than Lugosi fan; those are the two biggest names in horror??? Ummm, never heard of Lon Chaney Jr?!?!😂🤣..They're a bigger icon than them.
Then again, Robert Englund kinda crushes them all. But speaking of the classic Universal Studio monsters..Lon Chaney Jr. will always be the best.
