    Big move 14% up in Axcelis today.Not an expert on semis but think it could be to do with ASML's new EUV machine news delivery to TSM later this year.AEHR moved 10% upwards too.

    I like your analogy. It helps to grasp the concept. As long as you also refer to the actual process. And you do! Congrats to your grandma, for aging the cake. I like your work and content. 🙌

      Wonder whether a highly technical video on the materials physics of why silicon carbide is superior for certain tasks in fundamental ways would get views. Technical explanation of usefulness for both high voltage and power efficiency sandwiched between brief easy-to-digest segments about These generalized uses as secular growth trends spanning industries.

    Thanks guys. Pertinent info as always. I am wondering- have you ever covered Jabil stock? I bought it on a whim and hadn't heard of it before, but it was on a list I came across of top performing stocks. I guess they do circuit boards for OEMs.

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  Месяц назад +1

      We've been asked about it a number of times, but no video. They're a diversified third party manufacturer, but yes among other things they do some circuit board work. Seems to be a well run business, but a bit out of range in what we typically look for. But maybe we'll take a look.

      Great question about AMAT. The answer is yes and no. Here's our last video about their diversified product line up. ACLS isn't diversified like that, just ion implant. ruclips.net/video/XGJM4k7Zjx4/видео.html

    Do you know why ACLS sells so little in the logic segment? Is it because Ion implantation is not much needed in very advanced semis, or just because Applied Material is taking all the market share there?

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  Месяц назад

      Ion implant is a very small niche market, it's just not used that much... Yet. Management seems to think some newer logic chips will use more, and are doing some R&D into it.

    Is it fair to say, OnSemi = Auto power chips/ Monolithic Power = Data center power chips?

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  Месяц назад

      There is overlap between the product portfolios, but that's not a bad way to think about it. MPWR definitely skews towards server power chips right now.

    Love the killer analysis as usual, top notch. Love the expertise and insights you both lend. I have somewhat of a criticism I wanted to be bring up. Every time you mention you are "nibbling: on a stock can you please illustrate an example of a percentage of an entire portfolio or position size in a particular stock. When you say " nibble" I interpret it as a meaningless amount, and if that is the case - then why bother ? I here you say DCA also which I understand .. so I am confused as to the difference in how you guys execute a DCA and how it differs from " nibbling" .
    Also a topic I would like to see an analysis of what manufactures in the semi industry are a major part of the usual suspects business. Tesla,Meta, Google, Amazon, etc etc. Who are their major partners as maybe they are looking at alternatives to NVDA ?
    Great show. Watching every episode as they come out as best as I can make time.

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for watching! An individual nibble isn't meaningless as many nibbles over time paired with solid business growth can equal a large portfolio position. It's how we built a position in Nvidia over the course of years. A DCA is different in that the small purchases are on an automated schedule, like a monthly or quarterly buy.

    • @specsbundy1392
      @specsbundy1392 Месяц назад

      @@chipstockinvestor Appreciate the response. So is it fair to say you nibble only when the valuation is at a certain place or do you nibble only on downturns ? Or valuation or where in the cycle it has no bearing? So say thr price is $100 and fIr valuation is $65 do you nibble and say it appears the peak of a cycle looks to be coming in the next 2 or 3 quarters and the a cyclical downturn appear on the horizon would you still nibble ?

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  Месяц назад +1

      @@specsbundy1392 the simple answer is it depends. Lots of factors involved, and no simple metric sums it up.
