Different town back then. People were much nicer, more of our identity at play. Very colloquial, way more character. Listowel was....... well, Listowel. Beautiful times. No rip off culture unlike today. Thank you Michael for sharing.

Changes to the fleadh came gradually and began in 1994 with the introduction of the first Guinness gig rig. Then in 2015 fleadh TV brought stage shows which the new fleadh going public liked. But very quickly the street sessions, which were the entry of the world and made the fleadh unique, were edged out. In Clonmel 2004 there were 18 street sessions - by Ennis 2016 there were just 2. The big musicians who played on the street had now moved to the stage. Most didn't even notice what has happend. As a result the fleadh has has lost the feel of a real traditional fleadh. (see book Fawcett's fleadh cce 2017)
