I like the Vega protein drinks, however, plant protein is not as bioavailable as animal protein. Yes, it can work for gaining muscle mass, just is not as bioavailable in terms of the branched chain/essential amino acids. The digestibility is not the same.
Can you use these drinks during a liquid diet for diverticulitis attack? I’ve looked everywhere and no one mentions these. A clear broth diet alone doesn’t keep you strong if you’re on it for days…. What about a supplement of a Boost drink? or Ensure
Good question, but unfortunately I don't have an answer for that, as diverticulitis is not my area of expertise. I recommend speaking to a registered dietitian who specializes in GI health.
A lot of elderly people who don't have much appetite and can't eat regular food drink ensure and it helps them not lose weight and maintain/gain weight. Also a lot of hospitals give ensure to patients that are really skinny and need to gain weight. So it is good for gaining weight or maintaining weight. And its convenient because not everybody is in to making complicated expensive protein shakes.
True, but there are other products that meet all those criteria (tastes good, easy to make, avoids weight loss, etc.) that have far superior nutritional profiles than Ensure.
@@FitnessSolutionsPlus That's cool for people who are able to have access to all that but not every one does.. I have family members who live on a reservation and the closest store doesn't have a lot to choose from, but ensure is always there. And it's pretty much always available at majority of stores. and some people have really horrible diets with very little protein or vitamins so for people like that, ensure would still be a healthy addition compared to what they eat. but for people who are super healthy, and can get fresh organic foods and things then ensure would be considered not healthy so it really depends on the person and their diet.
HELLO PLEASE REPLY Good day, I drink Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass protein shake but my dr wrote me for ensure. Idk... i think im fine with just the ON SM shake. What are your thoughts? I have an illiostomy and i have an IV that runs daily for supplemental Nutrition and fluids since i have my large intestines bypassed. I drink tomato juice with a bit of salt for potassium. Thank you in advance for your kind reply.

@@undertheradar9295 I took a look at it, and it's a mix of milkshake, and a low-grade multivitamin. If you want a milkshake, and you like the taste, regardless of its nutritional profile, enjoy! If you're drinking it for health reasons, there are much better things you could be drinking (like Vega's all-in-one shake, Milk 2 Go Pro, Glucerna, and others). If you want a multivitamin, then just take a multivitamin as a capsule/tablet.
@FitnessSolutionsPlus dude I just drinked one and I immediately have to poop. As of right now I’m doing number 2, I searched the side effects of ensure and stumbled upon you. Never buying it again! Also good video
You're right, it does have more vitamins and minerals than a milkshake. But there are other, much superior ways to get those nutrients - like a glass of milk + multivitamin. And others.
I lost 50 lbs in 40 days laying flat on my back in a hospital bed only drinking 3 Ensures a day and nothing else but water. Chemo for AML leukemia and the smell of cooked food made me nauseated. Never felt hungry only drinking Ensure. Of course a lot of that was muscle loss. Yeah, I left there a nutritional wreck but I was cured of cancer and lost weight. Lol! Sugar or not you will lose weight if that's all you consume.
@@FitnessSolutionsPlus Thanks! An allogeneic bone marrow transplant after the chemo ultimately cured it I suppose but that was really a wild ride for 5 years with GVHD attacks. They really need more patient friendly treatments for cancer. I've heard they are working on that.
Yes. The Ensures are specifically for that sort of state. To prevent severe malnutrition while not overdoing sugar. That's what these supplements are supposed to be for.
@davidkellymitchell4747 5 years! I'm about to hit 2 years myself since my allogenic transplant for CML/MDS (my sister was my donor, I'm a guy). My GVHD has mostly targeted my mouth, it's been a pain managing it and eating sometimes. I'm curious if you're still on corticosteroids? I started off with 50mg prednisone and now I'm down to 20/15 on certain days. The puffy face is terrible.
@@onkive Congratulations! That's quite an ordeal. No, haven't had any GVHD or immune system attacks in 13 years. Been 15 years since I had the transplant. I had a little mouth irritation early on but passed quickly. My hardest time was with pneumonia and kidney failure from GVHD. I wound up in ICU for 3 weeks because I got pneumonia and tota kidney failure all at once. They had to bring a dialysis machine into my ICU room. My kidney doctor said they went into shock from GVHD and their function would return in about 6 months if they will at all. At about 8 months they went back to working again one night. I didn't urinate for 8 months. Not one drop but I could sleep like a baby because no need to urinate but I'm very thankful now to wake up during the night to urinate because dialysis sucks. My other injuries from all the chemo and GVHD was I got severe retina damage in my left eye from the huge 175mg prednisolone shots they gave me when my vital organs were under attack. I learned Steroids cause fluid to build up behind the retina and often enough to scar it or even detach it. All my hormonal glans were damaged so I have to take thyroid hormones and testosterone to this day. I got a DVT clot in my lower left leg so that leg stays swollen all the time from damaged vessel valves. Other than all that it was a pretty smooth experience. 😆

Hospitals in Australia provide Ensure drinks for patients. I'm guessing not for diabetics.
Do you have an opinion on "Carnation Instant Breakfast", they may be calling it "Boost'' by Nestle now?
I looked it up, but there seem to be multiple products under the Boost line. Do you have a link to the specific product you're asking about?
Boost chocolate powder from Walmart. It’s almost identical to the “Carnation Instant Breakfast “ powder.
Thanks for responding and posting videos.

It’s been consumed in our household for years.
Thanks again!
Why is it giving me the worst indigestion heartburn? It’s so bad.
I'm not sure. If it's not working for you, just don't drink it in the future.
It could be the electrolytes in the drink, that can often cause side affects.
Can ensure help with growth?
What kind of growth? Muscle growth? Weight? Height?
I mean like could ensure help with growing taller
