  • Hey peoples, so you're wanting to know which GPS remote is the best right? Well they're truly isn't a best GPS remote. Of all of the devices used in this video the draggy is going to be the most accurate because it is a dedicated performance GPS Data logger. This entire test should be looked at as a tool to show you guys how each GPS remote performs in comparison to it a more professional piece of equipment.
Dragy: the most accurate. Essentially you could record footage with any of these action cameras and then use the draggy in the background to record telemetry data. From there you can go to goprotelemetry... pay a one-time fee and be able to synchronize your telemetry data from the draggy to your action cameras footage. This is not something I would recommend buying unless you are using it specifically for performance measurements of any specific vehicle.
They are all very similar however..... Despite other action cameras performing better in other areas the GoPro still remains King when it comes to all in one package. The GoPro is still the only camera up until the GoPro Hero 11 that's has the GPS built into it. The GoPro is also the only camera that can grab telemetry data as soon as it turns on using the quick capture feature however...before using quick capture you want to manually turn the GoPro on for at least a minute so it could find satellite reception. After a minute you could turn off the GoPro and it will remain in a very low power state, trying to maintain GPS lock within a certain time period so if you turn it on using Quick capture, it will already have GPS lock
    Hero 5-8:
    • has a 18hz sample rate (fastest if any action camera GPS remote) also best for very fast accelerating vehicles
    • can only find normal GPS satellites (a satellite type exclusively used by the U.S.)
*Therefore if you live outside the U S., your gopro's telementary data could be inaccurate or underperforming.
    Hero 9-11:
    • 10hz sample rate
    • receives information from all four GLONASS satellites so not as responsive as the earlier hero cameras but more accurate for most speeds (best for slow to moderate speeds)
    * These GPS options within your GoPro is a reason why some of you guys noticed your GoPro losing battery power when the camera is off. When the GPS is enabled, it will try to keep reception for as long as it can even though the camera is off. So to help prolong your battery life, definitely want to turn the GPS off in the settings if you do not need it*
    DJI GPS remote:
    - worse performing GPS tool of the group.
    - often takes forever to find satellite reception compared to the others. It is significantly and ridiculously slow
    - sometimes requires a second press of any of the buttons before the camera responds to the button you press.
    - requires you to turn the camera on with the remote before being able to turn camera off and back on
    - the only good thing I would say about this remote is at least you could have it charging while using it. It's battery life is horrible so charging while using is something to consider.
    Insta360 GPS remote:
This remote and the GPS Preview remote are very close second remotes to the Hero 8 I used in this video. Not in responsiveness but in accuracy and overall performance.
    - battery last almoat as long as three batteries in the X3 camera
    - finds it's three of the four GLONASS GPS types very quickly (1st place)
    - 10hz sample rate
    - practical design as it could rotate orientation on its strap so you could look at it however you need to without worry
    - simple to use
    - side buttons not very easy to find in the dark with gloves on
    - will turn your linked camera on and off completely.
    * Keep in mind with all of these cameras and remotes for these cameras if you take the battery out of your camera have to turn the remote and the camera on together in order to resync them. Once they are re-synced together you will be able to turn the camera off and on with each linked remote.
    Insta360 GPS Preview remote:
    - hands down the most fun remote to use
    - is also very quick to find satellite reception
    - honestly I could go on and on with this remote.
    - longest lasting GPS device.
    - 10hz sample rate
    - four GLONASS receiving GPS system
When it comes to the instant 360s GPS preview remote, I've went to my local Best buy and found that the Apple watch 49 mm screen protector fits the preview remote.
    www.bestbuy.co...
    * Some of you guys may not have a Best buy nearby but that is the exact screen protector I have on my preview remote* Maybe you can use everything in that link too far away to find that exact screen protector so that you can order it and have it on your remote.
If you guys have any questions, please feel free to message me in the comments.
Thanks for watching and I'll catch you in the next video!

Thanks bro, What about the GPS performance on the Garmin Virb 30 Action camera?maybe you have experience with that

I don't have the virb 30 but let me do a little bit of research on it.

      Yes no problem
So I dont have any experiencr with the VIRB 30 nor did I even know if it's existence. So I did some digging around after your comment and found out that camera has a 10hz system which is the same as the DJI and both of insta360's GPS remotes.
Thanks for bringing that camera to my attention. I'm going to check it out myself
