    The realism in this diorama blew my mind. The details are absolutely on point when compared to old rotting homes I can easily find not too far from where I live.
    The way rot damages the wooden facade, to the way the discoloration on the porch deck reflects how various species of mold and moss invade such surfaces.

      @@smolworldworkshop Absolutely! Regarding you using real dirt for your home made dirt paste, do you just get dirt from outside and use it? Or do you bake it prior or anything to get rid of bacteria? I've heard of people using real world things like this for dirt and I feel like I've heard of people baking it or something first? Anyway, just curious because I have a base I'm going to be making soon and would love to try your technique out. Also the same question for using sticks found outdoors to use as trees and logs.

    • @smolworldworkshop
      @smolworldworkshop  Год назад +1

      @@nickshobbycorner I personally use the dirt as is, with the soil I would put it through a sieve to get finer pieces. But I didn’t bake the pieces to kill any bacteria. I’ll usually let the soil and sticks sit in my garage for afew days and dry out completely.
      I am aware that people have had certain toxic bacteria or moss on their projects that have ruined their projects. So I guess I’d say it’s a safer bet to sterilize anything you pick up off the ground. Ultimately the decision is up to you but I hope this kinda helped!!

    I wish I had seen this video about 3 years ago, before I started building my human sized goat barn. I could have used this method to build the framing to see what problems I might encounter. It would have stopped me from making mistakes with 12 ft studs rather than with a 12 inch miniature. I like miniatures because each one may contain a scene, house, or even an emotion, take up only a tiny place. Wonderful video. I need to create a miniature version of my goat barn, at least one paddock, and the various people, tools that are needed in my own barn. I raise meat goats, which are quite large, strong, and curious. I have done some miniature making. It is rewarding when it comes out looking like what I envisioned.

    For authenticity, you need to insulate the walls with 1/24th scale old movie posters, newspapers and comic books from the 1920's-1940's. :D

      @@smolworldworkshop I'm interested in making some 1/24 - 1/25th scale dioramas for my hobby shop for shelf displays to showcase my model cars as well as inspire people to build model kits in general.
      I have ideas, it's just hard to get them out into the real world, as it were. Also, trying to get the time in to build them can be just as challenging.

    So Awesome of a job, I have a 1860...1901 on paper home that has been built onto over the years, this so much reminds me of the base house that I call home. The floor beams were hand chopped with a axe. My house was the same at its roots, with a front and back porch of the same size and a elongated window beside the fireplace, the doors were lined up a front and back ( gunstyle) to allow air to flow thru, set more to the right of the location in your model. I love the job you did here very nice work, so realistic, kudos from me and my house!

    Very good! Accurate and correct details. I’m an old builder; your creative steps is quite similar to the actual construction techniques. The shingles reminds me of crawling on a roof tacking down shingles and trimming them with a hatchet to fit.
    The center stone on the fireplace was usually a little larger but accurate representation!! The keystone held the slanted stones together by locking them into place; the weight pressed on the keystone and ties the structure together. The mantle beam helps too, but the keystone holds the masonry together and insulates the wooden mantle from the fire.
    (Your artistic skill shows that you understand these things, I’m just dropping information for viewers who may be unfamiliar. Beautiful!!🙏♥️)
