If you failed to save the reactor from meltdown. You get the meltdown ending and its a big reference to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Also the flooded nuclear power plant is a big reference to Fukushima disaster. Since the plant was shut down during the earthquake. But the tsunami flooded the plant and knocked out the backup generators much like what happen here. And the reactors had a big meltdown since there is no cooling systems running to prevent the fuel rods from becoming molten nuclear hazard.
@@jaffaketchup I did failed to save the nuclear powerplant from meltdown on my first playthrough. So I got the meltdown ending. It was hard finding the fuse box and figuring out what to press and the rooms are darn confusing. Asking a Civil Engineer to save a nuclear powerplant when everyone else have yeeted is above my pay scale is lmao.

I love this game how it has all these homages (for lack of a better word) to infamous nuclear accidents. Like past was the Demon Core and now it's as only I can assume Fukushima due to the flooded gens. Although the circumstances were not exactly the same (Tsunami compared to a local dam breaking). Loving the series keep up the good work.
Not just nuclear accidents! The bit with the "flushing line" allowing sewage to mix with drinking water was based on a real incident in Nokia, Finland in 2007.

Well this one is probably a front for nuclear enrichment as RCE found thoses devices in a secret lab under the subway previously. This nuclear plant is shown in the newspaper to just be put in service after 10 years of construction. Looks like funds for safety and construction went to the secret nuclear weapons program.
