Thanks to this tirukkural initiative, I too read all 10 on this அதிகாரம் for the first time. I guess this has not been included in school curriculum as they found nothing spectacular. It is nice that it has been included here. I liked this one ஒறுத்தாற்றும் பண்பினார் கண்ணும்கண் ணோடிப் பொறுத்தாற்றும் பண்பே தலை. (௫௱௭௰௯ - 579) To be compassionate even to one who has hurt you is the greatest trait. Reminds me of the more popular and more emphatic குறள், இன்னாசெய் தார்க்கும் இனியவே செய்யாக்கால் என்ன பயத்ததோ சால்பு. 🙏🙏

Didn't know about கண்ணோட்டம் அதிகாரம் until I saw this. So, I read all the couplets in that chapter just now. In the couplet 575, he says eyes without benign look are just sores; in 576, he says humans without benign look are just trees... so harsh, but very thought provoking. My eyes were filled with tears when you spoke about words of appreciation and recognition. Thanks, Sir. The song was also sung beautifully. For a moment, I felt a strong resemblance to the song என் வீட்டு தோட்டத்தில். I searched the internet and people say it is based on Kedaram. I know nothing about Carnatic music. But, the piano notes of both the ragas seem close to each other. Would be nice if you can clarify.. Thanks again to both of you !! 🙏
@nshiba Your comment makes my day. The mission of such initiatives has been to take Carnatic music to the uninitiated. I feel thrilled that you are able to relate and identify ragas. Yes that film song is also loosely based on the same Neelambari raga, that I sang the Tirukkural in.
Super sir. Can you incorporate the meaning also in song form. That is, first kural, then swaram and meaning in 2 lines. I think it will become a true song 🙂
