I have just bought this meter. Im an auto electrician/mechanic. Was thinking about buying this for a month or so and well so glad I did. Also in the online instruction manual I don't think it has everything detailed that this guy said. If it does then its just because its a manual I missed it. Much prefer videos on how to use my new tools. So anyway whilst he's talking and showing the functions I have been pausing the video and doing the stuff on my 88v. Awesome, really is a great meter. Went out to my van and did an A/C test on the alternator and a min max in dc volts for starting it. So easy and just the sort of quality I need to enhance my business approach towards customers. If I can diagnose bad alternators it makes me more money, and also on the min max of the battery when cranking it shows the health of the battery too. Highly recommend this meter really I do.
thank you for the great video. I recently purchased my 88 V and expected it to come with instructions or a comprehensive owners manual but I was disappointed to find out it only came with a quick guide that is very cryptic. This is far more helpful.
Hi Dave, I was hoping to find out what the "ms" function that is located by pressing the Hz/% button does or where it would be used. Can you shed some light on this function?
The ms stands for miliseconds. In this mode the meter will read the pulse-width of a signal, as the on-time of a fuel injector for example. It's a direct time measurement. You always can download the user manual from the fluke website. www.myflukestore.com/pdfs/cache/www.myflukestore.com/fluke/multimeter/88_5/manual/fluke_88_5_multimeter_manual.pdf
I sat in on class led by Dave in North Carolina, he's a hoot.
