Some idiots retrieved there luggage from overhead storage, delaying the evacuation and endangering passengers in the rear. Plane crews should announce that anyone retrieving luggage will be arrested and proscuted for compromising others.
Please don't use percentage increase numbers. If there were 5 fires and two more happened, that is a 40% increase. If you consider the number of total flights, this pretty much means that fires never happen, but you are making it seem like they happen a lot. Be accurate. Don't sow mistrust and paranoia. Someone should make a laptop bag/ backpack that is fire resistant, like the bag the fight attendant was using for the scenario, making it required when on board an airplane.
There needs to be a way to test electronics to see if they are in danger of catching fire so owners can either replace the battery or their electronic devices.
