I had the UCS A-Wing mailed to me, and it was left outside in the rain. The box was completely destroyed, fortunately the instructions and stickers remained dry, but the loss of the box still bothers me.
Man, the fact a LEGO employee knew it was damaged like that and willingly sold it at full price really pisses me off for you. For myself, I chose to go with a damaged bad batch shuttle box rather than a fresh good condition one because i got about 10% off on it. They didn't have the damaged one on the shelf, they just offered it to me when I got to the till for a discount. That's bad practice by that LEGO store to just pretend it wasn't damaged. It may not have even been their fault but they still should have discounted it.

The Boxes in Seattle were screwed up as well. They might replace it but will it still have the printing error? Our store was considerate enough to tell us that half of the boxes were badly damaged and they would give them to us in order of waiting in line. I was luckily 10th in line so I got a pristine box. They made the mistake of having the wrong logo on it. I think this one is going to go up in value like crazy

Yeah, that’s what I currently do, but unfortunately am eventually going to run into space issues. Was looking at some videos of folks cleanly collapsing and storing them flat that seemed too keep the box art in decent shape.
About the UCS gunship box. Lego needs to start stepping their game up when it comes to box protection. We, as fans, are paying an absolute premium for these sets from Lego. Paying 350 with a hole in your box is such a punch to the stomach. Lego needs to spend a little more on box protection and bubble wrap when they ship sets to either individuals or big store suppliers that will put them on shelves.

I totally get the box thing! I've been there! The box is a part of the collection, and it should be treated as such. I get really mad whenever I get a brand new set and the box is damaged. Also, DO NO BUY NEW LEGO FROM AMAZON! They have zero clue how to package sets properly. 75% of the time their boxes are destroyed by the time I receive them.

Don't worry Ryan literally every single collector cares about boxes, I would've been upset and pisssed off if I were you. The amount of times I bought things and the boxes were damaged is insane I don't understand how it could be acceptable to do that, that's why I hate buying things online but it's also sometimes the only way to get something which is annoying. Shops also do this purposely because they know that most people just wouldn't try to get a refund or replacement because it takes too much effort. It's literally illegal too.
I’m from the Virginia and go to tysons mall to buy lego. When R2D2 came out, I was fifth in line and when I got in the store, the employees where giving all the damaged boxes out first asking if people wanted extra VIP points. I said no and they had to go behind all the busted ones to get me a clean box.

And the fact that they just hid it in a bag for someone to randomly get instead of setting it aside for someone to actually decide if they want to buy the damaged product is pretty shady.
