The greed of which you speak isn't peculiar to our leaders alone. It is a Nigerian thing (leaders and followers alike), as clearly mentioned by the Okosun himself. This is coming from a fellow Nigerian.

I am from Mexico and I love this music! It is not just Nigeria or Africa that face these problems, in Latin America we face the same exact problems in our countries. Corruption, greed, politicians, and sometimes even the public themselves are the things ruining all of our nations. Sonny Okosun made some great music and it is really a shame that not many people outside of Africa know him or his music.
    Best Wishes from Mexico

I heard this song as a child in the early 90’s. It’s bloody 2024, people WILL give anything for life to be the way it was when this song came. May GOD forgive those whose action or inaction have led us to where we have now found ourselves.

We are 60 years today but our days are filled with tears.
Today we no longer cry but shed blood as tears.
Today our blood has become like rain that quench the thirst of a desert.
Today, we are too divided to be United.
Today , we are strange bed fellows.
Today , we go to bed hungry and wake up hungry .
Today, our blood is like the meals served in Royal court.
Today , we seek another country to call our own because what was ours is lost.

This song was made some 35 years ago, and it is still as relevant (if not more relevant) today, as it was in 1983. It means that whatever plagued our country then is still alive and, has even grown stronger.
Will things ever change? Will God send Nigeria a 'Moses' or, will He send his angels to take a walk throughout the length and breath of the country to see if our cries for redemption is as bad as we say? God we need a righteous, intelligent, benevolent, unifying and articulate leader. We need Jesus.

@@samuelnnaji8047….That song will not work as a national anthem. The song ask a question...which way to go? An anthem is a solidarity, hopeful, assurance and a pledge for a country's up coming generation. It also give hope and belief and such anthem must carry messages of hope. The song which way to go, is an uncertainty song, it meant the country is in a state of confusion. It will not be accepted by the people as an anthem. Really, Sonny Okusun must be considered as a citizen of the world as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh,Luky Dube and many others around the world. The only way to save Nigeria is to divide the country bcos it can't work again. Just look at many years of prophecy by this great man, but now things are worst. God bless u sir Sunny okosun

And the question still remains relevant, even in 2021. What a pity!
Happy 61st Independence to Nigeria. May the labour of our past heroes never be in vain.

Sunny Okosun, a legend and an icon. His music is reminiscence of the prevalent conditions in Nigeria and Africa.

My great friend Ozzidi is gone but not his music that creates a pure sense of nostalgia. Nigeria is a country where every one seems to be talking but no one is listening.
