I'm a kpop stan since spring 2016 and idk for some of the newer groups I just don't bother to check their songs anymore... all those 2min songs where they sing the chorus just over and over again and it's over have really made me loose interest in keeping up so I just focus on my groups that I already stan!
im legit the opposite. keeping up with the new stuff is easy after being a stan for like 3 years, but i barely know any songs from 2000 to 2019 aside from the biggest releases, the required gen 1 and 2 songs all kpop stans must know of (its miniskirt from aoa, give it to me from sistar, and at least one shinee song) and random deceased nugu groups
a lot of people saying they lost it on bgs but I'm only now realizing I failed a lot because of ggs. Not that gg songs are bad but I feel like they are usually more tame and alike than bg songs (which is not a bad thing). I passed only year 2021, the other were usually close though

Hmm, became a proper K-pop stan in 2020 so this'll be interesting. To preface: I only stan girl groups so I'll probably know more of their songs (I know more bg bsides than their tts more often than not) Also, 2024 is finally the year I'm not rushing to listen to every release do I'm DEFINITELY not up to date. Also got more responsibilities 2023 onwards so let's see how that affects my score. Songs I didn't know: 2020: 8 2021: 7 (Makes sense since most of 2020 was mw listening to older songs by groups) 2022: 8 2023: 9 2024: 13 I'll be honest, even the ones I don't know I was familiar with most. However, I gave myself more leeway for 2024. I'll probably listen to most songs by the end of the year so if I could get the title/lyrics right, I counted it. So technically I wouldn't know ~24 of the songs but I do KNOW them, just that I haven't really listened to them yet iykwim.
