Got mk5 golf with same engine 1.4 twincharger (1st gen bmy/blg) with dsg6 @ st2 1.5bar. Almost 210k km on it and it's still runs strong

Chain + twincharger + Dsg7 (dq200) = bad combination
Why is that a bad combination? I got an a3 8v 170 stage 1 and wanted to upgrade my turbo. Maybe its a bad decision
The bad decisions is the DQ200 that was made to support 250nm not far aways
@@Dyrazo A3 8v is EA211. Thats a different engine, which is way better than the twincharged 1.4 T(F)SI. You have a good engine, if its also a manual gearbox you dont have anything to worry about.
Depends really, mine has been absolutely fine . It’s usually cuz drivers push it too hard

That engine is not the most reliable thing, but sure it performs really well for a 1.4!
mine is now over 10 years old and still runs fine. but it's also a manual and I don't go to 6000 rpm all the time.

It’s actually one of the more reliable engines, most of the TFSI’s are pretty solid, and are statistically higher rated in reliability than many similar power plants.
Steptronic 6/7’s are also very solid boxes.
@@franklins8657 nah it’s actually a higher than average reliability, not sure what OP is talking about, maybe they’ve had a personal bad experience.
That engine already has so many problems. One of the few VW group turbo motors I would not drive, yet tune.

Make sure the oil is at the right temperature and change the oil every 10k and good maintenance.

I drove a 1.4 audi A1 TFSI black edition with the manual box for 180 odd bhp they are no slouch very surprising for a 1.4

Both built in Spain but in different areas. The Polo built in Pamplona; the A1 built near Barcelona.

This engine is a dream, if it runs! The trottleresponse is no comparison to the 2.0 TSI with its big turbolag. It revs smooth up to 7000rpm. But 2 completely failed engines in 156000km were to much for me. I bewared it like my eyeball. For example: Oilchange all 7500 km (latest) with Motul. I am a car guy since over 40 years and i imagine i can deal with engines.
@@besenwieslersepp1011 Agreed torque is fantastic, if only they made this engine more reliable, the twin charger was just too expensive to keep producing unfortunately. The 2.0TSI turbo lag is what keeps me from buying one. The thrill of the torque from the 1.4 is too intoxicating.

@@alexmnblyth probably as expensive here in the states. How much is it over there? If I was to do it, I would be like the only one to have a twin charge 1.4 here... I want to get the UK hybrid turbo for the 1.4 but I heard that wastegate actuators fail with the hybrids.

Have the same supercharged engine and transmission combination with my Polo 6R GTI (CAVE Engine). It is a fun car to drive (mine is tuned on Stage 2) but pistons and pistons rings are very weak on the engine. Check the compression values if you wanna buy one of these cars.

I like small cars. If I were alone, I would buy A1, but since I have to drive a few people around and some stuff in the boot I went with Golf.
The gearbox has been changed, the dq200 does not support such an amount of torque...
Those St. with 210 HP are mostly about 300NM. The OEM clutches begin to slip at 350 NM, even when new. Mine had new chlutches at 120000 km with Revo St.1 (210 HP/300NM) from 70000km on. I think, without SW, the clutches had been worn out latest at 140000km

@@stefancristian8483 I had one (Skoda Fabia VRS) untill the second total enginefail 2019. The Cluthch change costs 2018 about € 1.400.- at skoda dealer.

@@DrivenByChris the 1.4 tfsi isn't a strong engine anyways right? I own a mito QV and with just a dowpipe, intake and intercooler i could get 210-215hp. With a td04 turbo and different camshaft's i could go up to 260hp on a stock engine..
@@thijss1272 well I have heard about a lot of people blowing up their twin charged 1.4tfsi's. So VWOA decided to bring the 1.4 tsi to america with a 1.4 that was only turbo so it wouldnt get tuned and blown up or just blown up in general. They revised the head in the new 1.4 tsi to make it strong n lighter. They also upgraded connecting rods I believe. I'd have to research the 1.4 tfsi more to see if it is. Ask around in your forums, they'll be able to get u the right answer. A lot of the times a company that provides a flash tune 'knows' that the power level they tune for won't blow up under normal conditions.

Most people do not understand the principe behind. It is not to add the boost from the turbocharger and the supercharger. Its about the response from the supercharger + the max power of the turbocharger. The over all boost of this engine is not impressive, even with St. 1 tuning. So far i remember, mine had 240 kpaa. Wich means 1 bar ambient pressure + 1,4 bar boost.

Yes, I actually own this car, the twin charge version of the A1 has 185 hp stock and its stage 1 tuned to 200-210hp

It is! This twincharger 1.4 TSI EA 111 had 160 HP in Golf, Scirocco and Touran.

This engine can't last long even in default configuration. Pretty much a time bomb, so many issues with it.
@@alf279 I got a 2006 Golf 5 GT 1.4 TSI supercharged. It has 250.000 km now and I can state it is better than the internet majority think.
To be fair, a Fiesta ST has a 1.5L with 200hp, with a simple stage 1 ECU remap you can get roughly 240hp😂
