It sounds like what you described happening to your vision is called an ocular migraine. Look it up! I have gotten them for years and they do last around 20 minutes each time with varying degrees of vision loss/missing or blurry areas of vision. The name is misleading in that a lot of people don’t actually get a headache with it. It’s a neurological problem that causes them and LASIK wouldn’t help that specific issue at all. 😌

My wife and I were rolling laughing when you put Carlin's shoe up to the screen and made the comment "Sorry, it probably stinks..." That was so off the cuff and just so FUNNY!!! Thanks for taking us along with your journey. We love you all. May God overwhelm you and your family with blessings!
Sounds like an aura pre migraine or ocular migraine. If you have a high prescription you are not guaranteed to not need contacts/glasses after laser. Everyone told me this was like a disclaimer to cover the surgeon but never happens. I had it done & ended up still needing contacts & glasses & feel like it was a waste of money. I was so excited to be free of lenses/glasses etc. Though I don’t have to pay as much for thinner lenses in my glasses like I did before. My ophthalmologist growing up always said why do you always see opticians in glasses, they don’t get laser? Not sure if there is anything to that but I have noticed a lot wear glasses! lol I was in my early twenties when I got it done -6 prescription.
I’m in my 30s, and I had lasik done about 8 months ago… I wish I had done it sooner. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It was so fast, easy, and painless. The whole thing was less than 5 minutes. You’re awake for the procedure, but I promise I felt and smelled nothing. If you’re a good candidate for lasik and you follow your doctor’s post-op instructions, you should be just fine! It’s the most amazing feeling being able to see without glasses or contacts and I still will randomly look around and smile because I remember that I’m not wearing either and I now have 20/20 vision 😭🤩
Lasic at 37 husband 38 LOVE IT!!! I wish I would have done it sooner. I was so blind I could not find my glasses in the morning if they had been moved. Do it do it do it! You will not regret it. You are awake during the procedure and there’s a little bit of discomfort, but it’s a few minutes and done. My advice as soon as the surgery is finished go straight home and go to bed. They numb your eyes so you don’t feel any discomfort, but when that numbing wears off, there is a burning sensation. I did not go to sleep right away because I had children to tend to, but I recommend go straight to bed.
My husband is an optometrist. There are risks with it. He did NOT want me to have LASIK. If you can wear contacts and glasses without any issues, then you may not want to do it. Also, what you described is a an ocular migraine. (Cause: stress, lack of sleep, too much caffeine, screen time. You did the right thing by taking a break and resting.) If you were to have flashes, floaters or a curtain to your vision that doesn’t go away, you would want to call your eye Dr. immediately as it could be a problem with your retina. But it sounds like it resolved with a little bit of time and rest. Also, Zade is growing up and did awesome with the golf! Such a cute vlog of all of you! 💛☀️
I had Lasix a year ago. I love it!! No regrets. I had glasses since 1st grade and I'm 40. You're awake during the procedure, but it's like an 8 minute procedure. So quick and easy. I did have to use drops the first couple of months for dry eyes, but I was told everyone does during the healing process. Everyone I know that's done it , loves it and has no regrets either. it! You will not regret it. 😊
Lazik was so easy. They have it down to you absolutely feel nothing. I had to do eyedrops before and after. You are awake. But they can give a mild sedative. Its amazing
I’ve had lasik done at age 20, best decision ever!!! You are awake for the surgery, but they do numb your eyes and you can’t feel pain, but you can feel the pressure of the lasers. The procedure was total of 9 minutes from start to finish. My recovery was amazing and quick(less than 1 week), I could see immediately after the procedure! Best medical decision I’ve ever made!!
LASIK was the BEST thing EVER!! I have major anxiety, and I lived through it. I was severely nearsided and it took about 10 minutes an eye. I could see when I got off the table. I was 27 when I had it done, 12 years ago and no problems. I still see 20/25.
Evan, I have the same thing but I was having what my neurologist said was aura migraines. I normally do have the headache to follow, but in some cases people do not have the headache. It really has nothing to do with your eyesight. It is like you see half of something bright lights can bring it on too much computer work stress, etc., etc. I have noticed most of the time when it happens to me I’m fine one minute and then it happens and I may not be stressed or anything. I would definitely get it checked out. I am a subscriber of Bates kitchen and I am loving Zach’s recipes. It’s an awesome channel. I highly recommend it.
Hi guys - I was 48 years old when I had laser surgery on my eyes (already using reading glasses by then too). It was the best money I have every spent in my life. It has been 17 years since my surgery and I still have better than 20/20 vision. It didn't correct my reading distance, except that after surgery my reading prescription was better than before surgery. It 100% corrected my distance vision and I had a very strong prescription prior to surgery as well as stigmatism's too. You will not likely be put to sleep as I was awake for the entire procedure and they need to ask you questions during surgery. The worst of it was the first 5 hours afterwards as you will be in some discomfort ... not pain, just a little uncomfortable (I just took tylenol and laid down with eyes closed). After the first 5 hours (post the freezing coming out), I was able to go out and walk the dog and never looked back. For sure do your research on facilities and type of procedure but I know you won't be disappointed. Good luck. Ali for South. Central Ontario, Canada.
Yes to Lasik! Was nearsighted all my childhood and young adult life! Had Lasik done at age 36. Doctor asked if I wanted only 1 eye done as I would be turning 40 in a few years, and age 40 is when eyes start to change again and I could have issues with reading or seeing up close. I told him, I wanted both eyes done for nearsightedness. Best decision! No regrets! I can see far away and still read up close just fine, and I'm late 50's now! It's been such a blessings not having to deal with glasses or contacts! Btw- Zade was such a mini-me of Evan!! Twinning! Cuteness overload watching your lil boy growing up! Editing to add: They do not put you to sleep. They give you something to relax. I was surprised how quick it actually was and did not hurt at all. It did freak me out the thinking of it all, but it was super easy. I'd do it again if I needed.
@@haleywhitten1947 No, at least not that I remember. It has been almost 20 years now. I followed the after care program to a "T". I can say the only side effect I have had is that years down the road my dominant eye started to change prescription. It is only 1/2 step from perfect though. So not a big enough change to require glasses or another procedure. My eye test results are still 20/20 vision.
Lasik was the BEST thing I ever did. I was 33 when I got it, about 3 years ago. I was blind without glasses or contacts. It was like a miracle surgery for me. They did undersell the recovery. Definitely need a couple of days to recover and will be using artificial tears for a couple weeks. 100%, go get a consultation and see if you are even a candidate before you rule it out.
My dad got lasik. He was glad he did it. I'm thinking about it too. Unfortunately,I inherited his vision. I recommend doing your research extensively, talking to others who have done it, and most importantly, praying about it
Can I just say, Evan, that your hair looks really good at this length! I know you get haircuts really often, which may be a personal preference, but consider wearing it at this length, rather than buzzing it all off (except for that little patch on the front)!
I got my lasik at 27 and it was THE BEST DECISION. I was never scared as I found a doctor I was really comfortable with and they also give you a medicine to calm your nerves (also helps you fall asleep after the surgery faster) The actual procedure is so quick and all you have to do is lay there, breathe and look up. There is a holder around the eye so you can’t blink when they do the correction, but your dr explains when they put it on so you are aware and aren’t startled or anything. It’s so so so worth every anxious moment but there is honestly nothing to worry about! These surgeons do this multiple times a day and are pros. After I got mine, I couldn’t believe how much time I wasted dealing with contacts/ eye drops/ waking up and immediately have to reach for glasses / not being able to enjoy water sports 😅 Lasik changed it all! I would be really confident to say you wouldn’t regret it if you got it! Hope this helps 🎉
Serious question, I’ve seen people who complained about any after side effects. They got dry eye or scratching feelings permanently or other side effects but I’m sick of my glasses
I just had cataracts Lasik surgery and it was the best decision I ever made. I can see long distance now and somewhat close up. I do have to wear readers to read, but I have worn glasses all my life and I can drive now without classes. It is amazing , the colors are brighter and they pop and it’s just the best thing. I am going 22 May and having my other eye done because they only do one eye at a time. I had my first eye surgery May 1. This is the clearest I’ve ever seen in my life. if you want to see clearer and brighter colors go for it. But the choices is yours.
Lasix was the best decision I have ever made. Afterward I took Tylenol PM and slept and when i got up I could see with out my glasses. Its amazing. I was 31 when I had mine done and its been 9 years and my eyes are still great. My mom, MIL, sister, and several friends have had it and love it. They do not put you to sleep they give you medicine to relax and you are awake.
My brother had my nephew on the golf course at 2 years old! He did amazing! Then he became an amazing baseball player scholarships and all! Go Zade!❤❤❤
I had laser eye surgery when I was in my 30s. I loved it. I paid extra for laser scapula, less change of human error. I’m 56 now and have to wear reading glasses and was just diagnosed by eye doctor with dry eye. I still would do it all over again.
Occular migraine. I used to get them a lot. You'll do fine with Lasik. I've had several different eye procedures and was always afraid of the process, but it's not bad. Go for it! Love watching all of you. The kids are hilarious and adorable!
They don’t put you to sleep they give you some Valium or something to relax you. I got it done in late 20s and it was amazing. Zero regrets. Just follow the after care religiously with the drops antibiotics and refresh tears you’ll do great and be so happy you did!!
Proud dad moment, love the little golfer, so darn Adoreable. Yes, get the eyes done, you will really like it. you will be sleeping.... Had mine done last year and I am 62 with no problems. So sweet how Layla was saving mom from the water 💖💖💖
Ohhhh my hearrrttttttt, I cannot😂😂😂 Zade us the cutest golfer I ever saw!!!! He has a good swing and follow through already!!! Go Zade, great job buddy❤
I had to get PRK because I didn't have enough corneal tissue for LASIK. I was 23. But, it was sooooo worth it. I was given some medication to help me relax prior to the procedure. Several friends and family have also gotten it, and all say it's great. I haven't heard anything bad from anyone who's gotten it done. Do it! You won't regret it. I went from not being able to see anything without glasses unless it was right in front of my face to sitting up immediately after the procedure, seeing the clock on the wall on the other side of the room, and what time it was!
Oh that is so precious ❤❤❤ It works with my grands when they try and do something too fast. I just say hey take a sec and get a couple of good breathes ❤They’re always amazed at how it seems to help them. And it warms my heart when I catch them using it on their own ❤ Zade is such a cutie and so happy he loves ⛳️ golfing❤❤❤
Loved zade having his shoes on the wrong feet. He's gonna be an amazing golf ⛳️ player. Love listening to Layla talk and sing. Beautiful kiddos. Oh and love seeing Evan and Carlin to. 😆 🤣 😂
Oh my goodness!!!! Your kids are so stinking adorable!!! Zade swinging at the golf balls was priceless. Layla is always cuteness overload!! God bless your precious family 🙏 ❤
Zade playing golf is the cutest thing! Layla is so sassy and funny; she is too much! Evan, definitely do lasik, especially while you are young. My sister-in-law has it done back in the 90's when it was brand new, and she still sees perfectly today (she had a bad astigmatism, too). My mother got it a few years ago because she has macular degeneration and she said that she wishes she had done it sooner because she sees better than she ever has in her life. Love y'all! ❤
I had LASIK done in my early 20s and I am 45 now. I agree with Zach it's one of the best things I have ever done. You need to do it as early as possible. No problems in the 20 years since I had it done and still perfect vision.
Got LASIK in my late 20s and was BEST decision ever! I couldn’t see past a foot in front of me so was def one who had to pat around for my glasses at night once I took my contacts out! Was awake during the procedure, but it took less than 60 seconds per eye. Was extremely nervous at first, but absolutely so so happy I didn’t let that stop me from doing it. Sooo glad I did it!! 13 years later and still have better than 20/20 vision. 🎉
@@CheapsKate77: from start to finish (prep, setting up on table, setting up the machine, post surgery etc), it took 10+ minutes. As far as the laser on the eye, it was the time frame I mentioned per eye.
@@brea7916 Oh I wonder if they were including set up in their time. I could probably handle a minute. I have severe anxiety so I would only be able to hold back a panic attack for so long. I’ll check if my insurance covers it. Thanks!
From an eye tech: The symptoms you described (besides the screen at church being blurry) sound like an ocular migraine. That isn't something that would be fixed with LASIK, but seeing the screen at church could be improved with LASIK. Also, you are not put to sleep for LASIK. Definitely a good idea to get the surgery while you are young. Good luck if you choose to get it done!
Such a cute video. Zade playing golf and lifting his foot is adorable. Seeing more of his personality now coming through. And Layla she is too precious. Her song she wrote is priceless. I’d be sure and write the words down and keep it. She has so much personality that she just shines.
I feel like I just had a fun-filled visit with you! This was awesome! My hubby, Mike, loved it too! Thank you for giving us such joy at the end of very difficult week. You are doing God's work by sharing your lives with us plus giving us reason to smile. With love, prayers, and gentle hugs from Donna in Florida. 🌴🙏🥰
And yes I get migraines occasionally and they always start with not being able to see right, exactly how you described it! I'm now on medication so thankful I don't get them as much
LASIK was the best decision I made! I was 23 and it was so fast! 7min total and I went from wearing contacts for 13 years to being able to see clearly the next morning.
My husband was legally blind without his glasses on..in his 50s he got lazer surgery for his eyes ... he has not had any issues and loves not having to wear glasses...look forward to your videos each week..enjoy spring in those beautiful mountains..I sure do miss it❤
My Hubby had it back when he was in his 30’s and it caused him dry eyes, but he is now in his 50’s and still no issues other than that. He was the very first patient in Ca to have it done. I recommend it. He was awake the whole time
Layla sitting in the chair in her hooded towel is a whole vibe! Zade was too cute at the driving range. I wish I was as cool as your kids 😎 Zach is so much like your dad it’s crazy - he sounded just like him when he was talking.
I had LASIK done when I was in my early 30s. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. About 20 years later, I had to start wearing contacts again as my vision started to change. You are awake for the procedure.
Watching your family brings me so much joy! Your children are unbelievably adorable, very sweet and well-behaved. I don't feel bad watching either because you have such good values that it encourages me. Much love to the wonderful Stew Crew! 💖❤💖❤
You had me in tears too! I feel for you. I know how it can be with dementia, I work in an assisted living. Prayin for you All, especially your grandpa and grandma Jane.
I LOVED the questions with the family!!! It was sooo cute when Evan was asking Layla questions and she purposely answered NO just to dunk Evan’s head in the water!!! The one I liked best was when the answer was pink and she purposely changed it to RAINBOW!!! That was HILARIOUS!! Zade did try his best for just turning 2!!! Zade is so cute in his Golf gear!!! As far as the LASIK is concerned, I would really talk to an optometrist first, BEFORE doing the surgery. Evan, do you wear Blue Light Eyewear when you are on the computer?? The Blue light can cause a lot of problems just in itself. Maybe that would help your headaches. Carlin, sooo glad you are feeling better!!! I think this summer will be soo much fun since your illness has gone away!!! 💕💕💕💕
Hi Evan. Love your guy’s channel! Those sound just like the symptoms before getting a migraine. I’ve had them for many years and experience the same thing. Mine have changed over the years so it can be different each time. You may also get the pre migraine symptoms and no headache. Hope you don’t get anymore! Take care!
So much cuteness you should be OK if I was you I would do it love watching you guys love all your videos. Keep up the good work seeing you guys all together So sweet see your next video. Have a blessed Saturday night.❤❤❤
Evan, I also agree with previous posters that it sounds like you had an ocular migraine. I had my first one in my twenties too, and it scared me to death the first time! It’s still a good idea to get it checked out with your eye Dr.
Hi, from Minnesota Evan, so my husband had lasik on his eyes in his 50s. He loved it. Everything went well for him. My daughter was like you. She was scared shitless about doing it, but then had it done. They do keep you awake, and you can smell your eye burning. But it goes very quickly, and they do. Give you a relaxer med beforehand if you need it. She's in her 30s, and she's glad she had it done, too. So good luck with your decision.
I highly recommend getting the LASIK! I had it done at 26 or 28 with a “touch-up” at 30 because I got pregnant after the first time which can affect it, which wouldn’t be a concern for you. I’m 50 now and just beginning to need reading glasses even though they said I’d need them at 40ish. They give you a sedative so you’re relaxed. DO IT! You won’t regret it!
I had Lasik done 5 years ago at 28. I was so nervous, but my husband had it done a year before me and it went well so I finally did it. Best decision ever! I have had no complications and can still see perfectly. The few hours after surgery are the worst, then after that, not bad at all. I would do it again in a heartbeat
The kids are both so adorable! My heart is so happy seeing them! I miss having little ones around me. My youngest grandchild is now 12! She’s adorable but having little ones around makes me remember when my 3 were little. I miss those days.
Do it! LASIK is amazing. Did it in my 30’s and I am 60 still awesome! Had it tweaked twice and second time fixed to see far away in one and close up in other! I’d do it again if I could ❤
I sit and wait every Saturday for your vlog. I literally love and follow every member of your family that has a channel. I miss BUB so much but at least we have you tube which almost better in some ways. Love u guys Its hard to believe Ive been following since your appearances on the Duggars, then United Bates of America, then BUB and now youtube. Ive watched you guys grow up and in the meantime I got OLD!
Firstly hello from UK! I just want to say how much I enjoy your weekly videos. Your kids are so adorable, very entertaining and you seem such a lovely, happy family. You cheer me up, and I need that in my life lol. I don’t usually comment though, but you mentioned lasik, and my 25 year old son has been talking about getting it done as his eyes are blurry and he can’t see properly in the shower. His prescription is quite bad, but……I’m a worrier and I really don’t want him to have it done. It’s not my call obviously, but I’ve researched it and it seems that most people, if not all, do get dry eye afterwards and in many cases it lasts months or never goes away. That’s not including the starbursts, blurriness, sensitivity to light, and in severe cases cornea neuralgia. Of course some people have no regrets, but a lot do and it’s your eyesight. There’s nothing you can do should it go wrong. I would just continue with lenses and glasses if I was you. I hope my son changes his mind. He isn’t settled in other areas of life yet and if something went wrong he could end up very depressed. Look forward to your next vlog ❤🙂

I was never scared as I found a doctor I was really comfortable with and they also give you a medicine to calm your nerves (also helps you fall asleep after the surgery faster)
The actual procedure is so quick and all you have to do is lay there, breathe and look up.
When Zade takes a breath. And his leg! Precious 💙💙
Zade was adorable golfing!!! ⛳️ Layla, Zade, and the cousins are always adorable!!! Have a great weekend Stew Crew!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
They don’t put you to sleep they give you some Valium or something to relax you. I got it done in late 20s and it was amazing. Zero regrets. Just follow the after care religiously with the drops antibiotics and refresh tears you’ll do great and be so happy you did!!
Many scream while eyes are done
Proud dad moment, love the little golfer, so darn Adoreable. Yes, get the eyes done, you will really like it. you will be sleeping.... Had mine done last year and I am 62 with no problems. So sweet how Layla was saving mom from the water 💖💖💖
The deep breath he does, & the twist of his foot when he hits..... The best
Ohhhh my hearrrttttttt, I cannot😂😂😂 Zade us the cutest golfer I ever saw!!!! He has a good swing and follow through already!!! Go Zade, great job buddy❤
Evan! That was an aura migraine! Treat it like you would treat a regular migraine. Nothing to worry about unless it’s frequent! ❤️❤️
Yes common name Visual Migraine
Also these days all this computer work….. Get gooood glasses and take visual breaks
ICD-10 code is Migraine with Aura.
Aura happens with epilepsy
Too
I was thinking the same.
Lasik was one of the best decisions I ever made. There is nothing like the gift of perfect sight with no correction. I was 21 when I had it done.
The waterboarding gave me belly laughs! Your family is so cute!
Love y'all! ❤
Look forward to seeing your videos every weekend.❤
Love love your videos, THANK YOU so much for sharing your BEAUTIFUL FAMILY ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My mom just had Lasix in January at 70. She loves it. She wore glasses her whole life.
Layla’s singing! She’s such a star!!!❤
I had LASIK done in my early 20s and I am 45 now. I agree with Zach it's one of the best things I have ever done. You need to do it as early as possible. No problems in the 20 years since I had it done and still perfect vision.
Yay! love the cooking show your brother does !!! A must watch !!!
You all are the cutest! Hope & pray the headaches stop completely. ❤
Tip for the sandwiches, get the pack that says mini sub rolls (same brand) , they are pre cut! So much easier! I love watching your family ☺️
I wonder why your procedure was so quick 🤔. The other comments I’ve read says it takes between 8 and 20 minutes.
@@CheapsKate77: from start to finish (prep, setting up on table, setting up the machine, post surgery etc), it took 10+ minutes. As far as the laser on the eye, it was the time frame I mentioned per eye.

Oh I wonder if they were including set up in their time. I could probably handle a minute. I have severe anxiety so I would only be able to hold back a panic attack for so long.
I’ll check if my insurance covers it. Thanks!
You guys are so fun to watch!!!!
I love how your teaching the kids to have their own interests and share in that with them your amazing parents keep up the good work.
Oh my goodness, how cute is the little golfer.
Watching that baby golf has to be the cutest thing I've seen! The golf attire and all!
Such a cute video. Zade playing golf and lifting his foot is adorable. Seeing more of his personality now coming through. And Layla she is too precious. Her song she wrote is priceless. I’d be sure and write the words down and keep it. She has so much personality that she just shines.
Zade is sssoooooo 😍 cute
I am impressed with how well Zade did with hitting golf balls! Our next great golfer!! Go Zade. Your kids are so cute!!! 🤗🤗❤❤
I'm now on medication so thankful I don't get them as much
Wait 30 min after eating to go swimming 😂 old wives tail!!! Nothing happens if you don't wait!!😂😊❤
We were robbed of so much swim time!!
Zade he is so cute, he even did the foot thing when he was playing gulf, he is such a pro. I think he is going to be something when he grows up
He is definitely going to beat his dad at the course! Lol😊
@@susanlassiter6494 yeah lol
LASIK was the best decision I made! I was 23 and it was so fast! 7min total and I went from wearing contacts for 13 years to being able to see clearly the next morning.
Love you guys and look forward to your videos every Saturday. ❤️
My husband was legally blind without his glasses on..in his 50s he got lazer surgery for his eyes ... he has not had any issues and loves not having to wear glasses...look forward to your videos each week..enjoy spring in those beautiful mountains..I sure do miss it❤
Most end up having to use

oh wow loving Zade's golf swing, and the little turn his leg and foot!!
I wish I was as cool as your kids 😎
Zach is so much like your dad it’s crazy - he sounded just like him when he was talking.
Love y’all praying for y’all!
Get them done!!!!!! Love it.
You had me in tears too! I feel for you. I know how it can be with dementia, I work in an assisted living. Prayin for you All, especially your grandpa and grandma Jane.
Yes. Loved that I got lasik at age 34 and I have had glasses since 3rd grade. But I was having issues as well. No regrets and no problems since.
This is so cute 😊 I love your kids❤all of you are a wonderful family!
I love you guys! The kids are too cute! Golf is in his future! 😊
😂Layla😂 you are the best Daddy dunker!!! Awe, you are too cute❤ and I love your singing voice!!!
You guys are awesome!
Your youngins make me laugh soooo much. Precious!!!
So cute. Those kids are so precious.
I just Love watching You All having a Wonderful Time Together as a Family ❤❤❤❤... Enjoy Your Weekend Sweet Stew Crew 🌝
