    Thank you so much! I think you just saved me a few hundred bucks! Just a word of advice to anyone planning to try this, when tightening the connection to the positive battery terminal DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! I did one too many cranks and the bolt snapped. I couldn’t find a replacement, Volvo wanted to charge me $180 to replace that entire fuse assembly. I had to get creative but ultimately it is working! Thanks again!

    Thanks for a good diy , however on my XC90 2017, there’s no battery strap nor that hold down bracket arrangement , just the small bracket at the bottom of the battery.
    I replaced my OEM 80 amp h7 with an 95 amp h8 size which needed me to go the dealer and spent $100 for the additional brackets and strap or leave battery loose in the battery compartment (not very safe).
    Some Volvo’s I guess come with different batteries and mounting configurations.

    If I test the battery from the poles under the hood, am I testing the starter battery, support battery, or both? I am getting 13%healthy, 22%charge, 320CCA, 9.35m ohms from there, indicating a replacement is needed.

    Quick note for anyone trying to remove the "housing" (top part). On mine (2020 XC90), I needed to use a screwdriver to push in a small clip to release the housing from the bracket. And then the housing comes off from the bracket. And then remove the bracket. The only way to remove the back part of the bracket is by first removing the housing from the bracket.
    Also there was no need to connect a battery to keep things in memory. I guess the auxiliary battery did that. These XC90s have two batteries.

      @@TheBatteryShop @2:56 there is no way it's supposed to just lift up like that. The back part of the bracket (closest to the fender) prevents that. It looks like that part of the bracket was never secured. Mine was secured and I needed to unclip the top housing part before that bracket could be removed.

    Great detailed explanation with socket sizes needed. I am laughing to myself with how complicated changing a battery is in a Volvo. Why did I imagine it would be easy like every other car. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a Volvo and if you own a newer XC90 sell it before the warranty is out. But thanks again for the great video. 😊

    Very helpful video. But after replacing the battery everything electric seems to work but it won't start. I'm thinking something has to be done to pair it to the key fob or reset something . I've disconnected the battery and waited 10 seconds. Wouldn't start. Locked and unlocked it five times. Didn't start. Turned the start button to on and held it for 10 seconds, then off, waited 10 seconds, didn't start. Any ideas?

      Hi - Thanks for watching. We think that if you didn’t use a Memory Saver you may need a Scan Tool Reset. We suggest that you check the vehicle owner’s manual or a service/repair manual to be sure.

      After replacing you need to reset bms ( battery managment sensor) to let know to car you have replaced the battery so that it can adapt accordingly .

    • @TheBatteryShop
      @TheBatteryShop  Год назад +1

      Hi - Thanks for watching! Please refer to the vehicle owner’s manual for information on attaching jumper cables to the “jump posts” under the hood. Another 12-volt battery or power supply can then be used to power the vehicle. The 12-volt battery in many Memory Savers can also provide power.
