I am an old white man and I have been saying this shit for decades... I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and saw the difference for myself. I saw how I was treated and how my friends of color were treated. I saw whos words were trusted and whos were discarded. I thought by now... some 40 years later... I thought we would have fixed it by now. Because it seemed that we had come such a long way in 1974.... and then it stopped. And its regressed in the last 16 years.... I dont know how any person of color can trust any white man at all... and that makes me just sick. I am sorry we let the ball drop. I am sorry I couldnt do more and didnt do more.

Somehow I cant help but feel that so much of the learned hatred has been taught thru a misunderstanding. Sadly, it will take several more generations for all of the bad feelings caused thru the learned hatred to fade away.
And I put virtually all of the learned hatred on the white mans side. For the people of color the perceived anger and hatred was a matter of survival. Because so many times the offers from the white man turned out to be poison and pain. Because of that, it will take a long time before people of color can trust that white people will treat them fair and square without some hideous price to be paid.
