He only debunks the claim about Shivling and radioactivity and not comment on Shivling as it is not his expertise. As a Vedantist I truly appreciate Pranav. It is a shame and funny why some people draw such parallels between lingam and radioactivity. It actually defames the Shiva himself as you are calling God a radioactivity power plant! +@Anikesh Nair P N Oak was the inspiration for the foundation of WhatsApp University's Zealous Hindu campus. Other persons might be inspirations for WhatsApp University's other campuses like Zealous Muslim campus, Zealous Christian campus, and so on.
I and Pranav worked together long back and we used to debate about religion and science. Of course, at the time I was a staunch believer in Christianity. Many years later I found my way out of illogical stories and became an atheist. For the people who think Pranav is anti-Hindu, I have to say that he's anti-religion or anti-faith and what he used to criticize was specifically Christianity with me. But, he is not educated in the Christian context enough to make larger criticisms as he was brought up in a Hindu household. India is still largely Hindu populated and ergo his criticisms are more about Hinduism, naturally. Every religious faith is stupid as it put forward claims without evidence, but in the Indian context, Hinduism has more relevance. Criticism of Christianity has more relevance in Kerala or Goa, but not pan India.
+@Bony John I very much like the work done by this channel Science is Dope. However, I see at least a little bit of merit in the proposition that even within the context of India, Islam and Christianity also need to be taken to task for spewing absurdities-which this channel HAS DONE in a couple of videos. The reason I say this is that Islam and Christianity, even though numerically significantly smaller in India than Hinduism, have wielded an influence on the subcontinent of India that is far greater in proportion to their respective numerical strengths; Islam was the religion of the rulers of India for many centuries, while Christianity was followed by the British rulers of India, and was "inculcated" through missionary activities. *P.S.:* I used to be a pretty devout Hindu, but became an atheist a few years ago. And BEFORE any Hindu apologist here tries to claim that Hinduism (i.e. so-called Sanatana Dharma) accepts, accommodates, includes atheism, I would urge such a person to read Chapter 7 and Chapter 9 of the Bhagavad Gita, which show the disdain and contempt that Krishna has for persons who do not surrender to him-and naturally, atheists fall under the category of persons who do not surrender to Krishna. So... NO, Hinduism DOES NOT accept, accommodate, or include atheism in its fold.
@@yevodee4024 I agree. Criticism on other religions would only do good. I just wanted to point out to people why he is not doing as much on other religions.
+@Nihilistic Atheist Where in Chapter 7 and Chapter 9 does the Bhagavad Gita compare atheists to "gamblers drunkards"? I could not find that. HOWEVER, in the same chapters, Krishna says that persons who do not surrender to him (i.e., persons who do not surrender to God)-which would include atheists because atheists do not believe in the existence of any god of any religion, any belief-system or any "dharma"-are lazy, demonic (i.e. wicked), unintelligent, the lowest among human beings, etc. He further states that such persons would never obtain the fruits of their work.

It never ceases to amaze me how we people end up correlating whatever things come up which appeal to our confirmational bias, instead of doing due diligent research work. For eg., the dome shaped buildings shown in 3:15 are taken as Shiva Lingas, despite the fact that Nuclear plants are designed to have dome shaped roofs to prevent the accumulation of radioactive gases in the top section of the building, in case of a leak. We should respect our Hinduism, no doubt about that. But we must not go overboard, where we blatantly ignore logic, just to suit our confirmational bias.
Are bhai app bhi to samjo ki sivling ko exact same nahi keh sakte pr ik illustrative figure ki tarah to show krskte hai kioki we also imagine shiva in shivlinga like energy in dome
@@navigarg7801 Metaphorical comparisons are not the main problem. We can say that Nuclear Power Plants hold unbelievable amounts of energy, at beyond human levels of comprehension. No issues with that at all. The thing is, if we go to literal conclusions, like the things mentioned in this video (Shiva Lingas being radioactive and the offerings like Dhatura and Bel absorbing the radioactivity), then it is not only a gross act of ignorance, but it is an insult to the many scientists, researchers and plant workers who died because of radiation sickness, while working with or researching nuclear physics and radiation. It is these absurd "facts" that are being circulated, without proper research and are being promoted, which makes us sad. Don't get me wrong. I am a Hindu, and I follow my religion. But I don't condone the propagation of actual fake news, just in the name of religion, which I hate. In fact, if you look at Hindu Philosophy, there is the Nyaya school of thinking, which is based on 4 core tenets: 1. Pratyaksha (Perception) 2. Anumana (Inference) 3. Upamana (Comparison and Analogy) 4. Shabda (Testimony/Reliable Sources) These tenets are also the basis of modern research. In addition, the Nyaya school of thinking also includes the following lines of thought: 1. Doubt is an invitation to "proceed to further investigation". 2. Making errors is a part of the process of gaining knowledge 3. The theory of cause and effect is true and a basis for investigation, and so on. All of which are also the core tenets of scientific research. So, if someone says "research is just a western philosophy", it is false. The tenets of scientific thinking also existed in our literature.

+@Bony John
I very much like the work done by this channel Science is Dope.
+@Nihilistic Atheist
Where in Chapter 7 and Chapter 9 does the Bhagavad Gita compare atheists to "gamblers drunkards"?
I could not find that.
HOWEVER, in the same chapters, Krishna says that persons who do not surrender to him (i.e., persons who do not surrender to God)-which would include atheists because atheists do not believe in the existence of any god of any religion, any belief-system or any "dharma"-are lazy, demonic (i.e. wicked), unintelligent, the lowest among human beings, etc.
He further states that such persons would never obtain the fruits of their work.

Sir, science is truth. There has been people twisting science but it has always brought truth in front sooner or later. 👍
"Namaskaram Anna" will be so pissed after watching this video. RUclips channels like String should be banned from the Internet as they play a huge role in spreading all these misinformations. It's so heart breaking just by scrolling via their comment section. I pity my fellow Indians who are still living in the past glory, mythology and outdated culture of our country.
Living with mythology or culture is not a bad thing, being ignorant is. We can see how Norse mythological character Thor was made a hero in Avengers. We can have these aspects and still be scientific.
@@anibeto7 Myths are stories to be shared with the younger generations for portraying morales, I agree on that. Problem starts when people starts idealizing and forming a cult on behalf of that 😗. All I want to say is that Myths should be taken as it is, shouldn't be mistaken for history.
And by the culture I meant..for example It's an age old tradition that had been spoon fed by our "culture" to respect the elders irrespective of what they tell. It's considered unmannerly to question their illogical statements or to oppose them. This has to change and the younger generation should be encouraged to ask more questions and promote scientific temper in them. But sadly I still see most of the parents rolling their eyes when kids do so,for the sake of our "culture".
A culture is never outdated whatever it might be. You are mistaking culture and pseudoscience as one and the same.
@@Viper60589 Well by our culture child marriage was permissible back then. Wasn't it? So deeds like that needs updation, that's all I said.
And pseudoscience comes when such deeds are connected to myths and then myths to science 🤷 It's all connected you see.
@@sapiens8141 Again you're mistaking culture for a tradition/custom. Culture is a cumulative. Traditions and customs change as per time and circumstances.
Hinduism has a lot of good things to be appreciated we should stop appreciating our religion on the basis of false claims...it only makes us sound illogical

Hey Pranav, this is great work.Keep it up.Saw A lot of fanatics here in the comments section.Ignore and continue the good work.
I am a Hindu and i really appreciate your videos on debunking this kind of videos, especially “scientific”. I really think people should draw a line between religion and science. People unnecessarily try to prove my beautiful religion as scientific in order to prove legitimacy of the religion. I think people should understand religion is mostly belief and science is mostly evidence. No need to prove our religion is great because it’s already great with rich history and texts. But only one request please don’t call our stories from Vedas as mythologies, we believe in them very and I know you don’t want hurt any religious sentiments of the people. Thank you and you got yourself a subscriber and looking forward to your journey in the future.
A great religion is the one with evolves with time and not the one with history and text, as anyone can have those.

Best thing on RUclips India!
Although I agree Amish Tripathi's books are fun, he is a pseudo scientific claim expert. I was a fan and went to meet him in a bookstore for signing. After the signing he started claiming that our ancient history was full of miracles and atomic energy weapons, vinayaka was plastic surgery and the usual bullsh*t. I was pretty disappointed. I don't know about others.
true, even I was a fan of his books because I am a fan of mythology but he started correlating them with reality for real.
Perhaps you need to re-read the history.
First successful surgery was performed in India. The Sushrutaa Samhita is among the most important ancient medical treatises and is one of the fundamental texts of the medical tradition in India along with the Charak Samhita. Sushruta is the father of surgery.
Sushruta has described surgery under eight heads: Chedya (excision), Lekhya (scarification), Vedhya (puncturing), Esya (exploration), Ahrya (extraction), Vsraya (evacuation), and Sivya (suturing).
The Sushruta Samhita documented the etiology of more than 1,100 diseases, the use of hundreds of medicinal plants, and instructions for performing scores of surgical procedures - including three types of skin grafts and reconstruction of the nose.
2- His techniques of surgeries are still used by INDIAN DOCTORS to perform complicated operations that are not yet achieved by modern science.

Hatsoff To Ur Research...
Knowledgeable video.. Appreciated!!
Need this type of youtubers who gives you knowledge without hurting anyone's religious sentimentals.. Just pure knowledge!!
Bro according to these people ujjain is exactly at the centre, provided you spiral up a little longer to north pole
Problem is where educated people are falling in the religious dogmas
My family is well educated but they are following a guru ma and for them guru ma is literally a God.
In fact, if you look at Hindu Philosophy, there is the Nyaya school of thinking, which is based on 4 core tenets:
1. Pratyaksha (Perception)
2. Anumana (Inference)
3. Upamana (Comparison and Analogy)
4. Shabda (Testimony/Reliable Sources)
These tenets are also the basis of modern research. In addition, the Nyaya school of thinking also includes the following lines of thought:
1. Doubt is an invitation to "proceed to further investigation".
2. Making errors is a part of the process of gaining knowledge
3. The theory of cause and effect is true and a basis for investigation, and so on.
All of which are also the core tenets of scientific research. So, if someone says "research is just a western philosophy", it is false. The tenets of scientific thinking also existed in our literature.

While they did not make Shivalingas out of uranium, they did do so out of mercury amalgam. It is called Rasalinga.
Mercury amalgam isn't radioactive. For a very long time Hg amalgams were even used in dental fillings, I'm pretty sure dentists wouldn't dabble with such material if it were radioactive.
