The city of Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav is a conurbation of two previously separate cities, each of which has its own rich history. Therefore, in 1960, when the two cities were merged into one, proposals for a new name were not accepted, and the original historical names of both cities were preserved. This created the longest name of a Czech city. The city is located on both banks of the Elbe in the fertile Polabská lowland, which - together with the proximity of the capital city of Prague, which is only about 20 kilometers away - has long influenced the development of the territory of today's city. The Elbe was a vital communication route, especially in the Boleslav part of the borders of archaeological cultures and tribal regions. The first farmers colonized the Elbe basin in the Late Stone Age. There are remains of settlements from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age in the city or its immediate vicinity, the oldest of which, above Kabelín near Záp, dates from 5500-4300 BC. The finds in the city area include the Iron Age, the Roman period, and the migration period nations. The arrival of the Slavs is documented by finds from the 9th century. Stará Boleslav was an essential locality from the beginnings of the Czech Přemyslov state, especially in connection with the expansion of the Czech tribe into the Zlicky and Croatian territories. At the turn of the 9th and 10th centuries, the Old Boleslav castle was built to protect the Elbe ford. A significant event in the city's history was establishing the Old Boleslav chapter in 1052, which is thus the oldest in Bohemia. In the following centuries, the population grew considerably, and settlements spread eastwards. Under Charles IV and Wenceslas IV. new, stronger ones were built on the site of the old Romanesque walls. Charles IV often stayed in these places and hunted black game and big game.
Staroboleslav Castle was destroyed by Praguers during the Hussite Wars. Written documents from the 12th century document the creation of the church of St. Peter on the banks of the Vinořské stream, and written records from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries document the existence of the small church of St. Lawrence. Gradually, the small town of Brandýs with a bridge fortress arose here, which is still remembered today by a tower made of thick masonry, incorporated into the eastern wing of the castle at the end of the 15th century, which was rebuilt into a magnificent palace in the 16th century. Stará Boleslav and Brandýs were practically destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. In the White Mountain era, the city of Stará Boleslav became an essential center of the Marian cult. 1680, the Holy Way from Prague to Boleslav was built, and a chain of chapels with images of the Virgin Mary and St. Wenceslas was built. As a result of the Theresian and Josephine reforms in the 18th century, both cities began to grow but were again affected by the hardships of war. During the Prussian-Austrian War in 1757, part of Old Boleslav was reduced to ashes.
A battle was fought right next to the walls of the Marian temple, during which the Prussian general von Wartenberg fell. The year 1813 went down in history when three monarchs met at the Brandy Castle / Emperor Francis I, King William III of Prussia. The Russian Tsar Alexander I and the commander-in-chief of the coalition anti-Napoleonic armies, Prince Karl Schwarzenberg, prepared a strike against Napoleon I. At that time, Emperor Francis moved from Jičín to the Brandy Castle. During renovations around the town, a spring with mineral water was discovered, which in 1820 became the basis of the nearby Houštka spa. From the middle of the 18th century, manufacturers and factories were established in the city, and communications developed with them. Some plants, such as Melichar's factory for agricultural machinery, founded in 1883, achieved fame beyond borders and had branches in many European cities.

Many thanks for the new video and location!👍😍🖐
Hi Vladimir, it was a pleasure to walk with you the Brandys clean streets. The castle is very nice, Renaissance style I guess. And the animals in the park was a sweet surprise♥️
Yeah, it says on the door, "Enter at your own risk." I kept wondering if the goat was going to attack me from behind. ✋🤣🐃
🤣🤣
Привет 🧇 ☕️ 🙋🏼♂️ Прекрасная прогулка по городу ✅️ 👍🏻🔝 📹🚶🏼
This is an interesting town and it has a fascinating history. It is to bad that a busy road runs through it but I know this is unavoidable. The peacocks' mating display was priceless! For some reason I was smelling honeysuckle as you passed through the embankment. Thanks for taking us there, Vladamir!
Yes, this road connects the town, because the full name of the town is Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav. One town on one side of the river and the other on the other. Two towns in one 🖐️😊❤️🇨🇿
Town of Saint Wenceslaus alongside Stará Boleslav.
Yeah, it's on the other side of the river, we'll go there next time.🖐️😊
🥰👍❤👍🥰
Thank you🤩 Super👍 For better promotion of this video, I write a comment of more than five
words❗🙃😉 I definitely watch to the end and give it a like✅😉
Hey Brandys, where my wife’s parents live. A lovely market twice a week. My wife will be there tonight.
Wow! That's great, Mark! 🖐️😊❤️🇨🇿🍺
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
A kind of magic (No way)
One dream, one soul
One prize, one goal
One golden glance of what should be
It's a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
The waiting seems eternity
The day will dawn of sanity (Ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Is this a kind of magic?
It's a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done
This flame that burns inside of me
I'm hearing secret harmonies
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be, will soon be, will soon be done
This is (this is) a kind (a kind) of magic (yeah)
There can be only one (one, one, one)
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done (done)
Magic (it's a kind of magic)
It's a kind of magic
Magic magic magic (magic)
It's a kind of magic
🎥Today, this is a story from life. And 50 years later, it's history. Or am I wrong?
