At first I only knew Malekith from the MCU, since hadn’t read almost any comics. Than I read the Mighty Thor series, in which Malekith is a key villain, and a genocidal and powerful madman. Then I had a good look at Thor: The Dark World and thought “What the heck happened to this dude.”
In defense of the MCU Malekith, in the comics his origins wasn't revealed until 'Thor the Dark World' was already filmed, So they basically had to come up with an original story for him. Another interesting thing about the movie version is that apparently they filmed a lot of scenes that were sopouse to make him a much more compelling and interesting villain, but according to the director, the movie was heavily changed during editing and most of his scenes ended up on the floor, resulting in a very bland bad guy. Even the storyline was changed. The fresh take they had for him would've also explained his new look. That being said, i love the comic version of Malekith! He's probably one of my favorite Thor villains. It's a shame that the MCU gave him such a poor treatment. Maybe a possible director's cut would be able to fix it, the director have expressed an interest to do that, but knowing Marvel it'll probably never happen.
Think you guys can do an EP on the Warhammer Fantasy Version of Malekith? Super badass character. Anyway, awesome video as always this is one of my favorite villains in all of Marvel( along with Thanos whom is my fav) and always thought Thor had some super slept on Villians. Also Hela is a awesome one as well!
I was really first introduced to this character during the Dan Jurgens run. I really like him. Aaron overused him a bit, but he was a good villain. I REALLY need to buy and read those Simonson issues!
The comic version had a WAY BIGGER effect on Thor than the MCU version.
So. I presume that you couldn't get the rights to show the original content from the comics to the movie screen

Even the actor expressed his disdain to how much work he did vs how much showed on screen

That's the Malekith I'm familiar with. Did GW rip off Marvel, or did they both rip off something older?
@@flibbernodgets7018 that is a good question when did he come out WH version popped up around the late 80s
@@flibbernodgets7018 neither rip off, they made at around the same time
@@jakeen229 Early 80s I think
MCU's Malekith is one of the greatest injustices Marvel has ever committed

Dig into some $1 bins & flea markets….. there’s plenty of Thor 344-349 issues out there
I think this evil villain (MALEKITH: The Dark Elf) should make his appearance in new Marvel cartoon shows.
Great villain in the comics thanks for this video on him.
Hela & Gorr meets Malekith. 😈💀
People would mistake an elf with a half-blue, half-black face, and white hair… with _Loki_ ??
MCU Malekith was damn forgettable and it wasted Christopher Eccleston’s amazing talent 😢
I loved Malekith 😍
Oh yeah! MALEKITH IS A CANNIBAL!
Epic fail for Marvel Studios! If they weren’t going to do the character justice, they shouldn’t bothered to use him.
What is the name of the comics series that shows the childhood of Malekith?
Yeah, I wish that they would give the comic numbers.
Well I actually liked MCU Malekith so there! I'm always the rebel!
The only thing he does better in the movie is visual, genuinely creeped me out when i first saw T:TDW
Nice
Fav villain
Liked dark world more than Ragnarok.
Malekith comic version more powerful Thor antagonist 🌋
Is he sadistic in the comics?
@@matthewschwartz6607 depends
A lot of the problem is Chris Eccleston; who is legitimately one of worst actors ever born
where is krang from TMNT????
comic Malekith was so sassy.
Greenwich is pronounced Grenitch btw lol
The Drow are not impressed. 😐
My gf says your voice is really hott 😅
Iron man is not made of iron good lord 😂
The perfect Malekith would’ve been Daemon Targaryen in House Of Dragons……
U freaking genius u!! I love it
