Back on my girl's guide to reviews, just shortened the titles to an abbreviation as it was long.
First up for 2019, the all new A35 AMG. A sister from the same mister as the A45 AMG. A Class Mercedes have always intrigued me as they just seem to be in their own league when it comes to the details.. and believe me for the price bracket they have got it pretty bang on with this.

Just bought a used A35 AMG almost identical to the one Becky drives in this review. I agree 100 percent with the conclusion. A comfortable daily bit with plenty of extra a potential for those occasional spirited drives.
I also owns semi classic 5.4 Liter V8 AMG and can’t believe that the A35 feels every bit as fast! That’s progress I guess.
Good review. It's a really nice looking car with just the right amount of power. Totally get and agree what you are saying about the A45, RS3, E63, etc type of car. On British roads they are just too fast. I would have one given but this looks like a perfectly sensible option for a good looking sporty car.
Really nice interior beyond that there all pretty much the same 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder 300hp four wheel drive....making every driver a legend in all conditions.
It's all about which one you prefer rather than one being miles ahead of the other
Great looking car and 300ish bhp is enough for the road.
I do like the AMG hot hatches, however it's too sensible for a hot hatch, the Focus RS is the perfect hot hatch, doesn't take itself too seriously, drives brilliantly, it's fast and has a good old manual gearbox, which is what a hot hatch should have
Maybe its what it should have.. but the DSG is so much better suited.. The gear changes are rediculously quick, and you get the flappy pladdles if you want to go manual, but hey, each to their own! :)
Golf R is the perfect hot hatch
I agree with your conclusions.I know this is an old review now, but I just bought an A35 and drove it through the Cotswolds.I was amazed with the handling and it’s so much fun. I feared it would come second behind my AMG C63 Cabrio, but I have to say I might actually enjoy this more.It’s better planted and so agile and makes rapid progress more easily than the hefty 63.
Picking ours up Friday. White with black but rear minus spoiler but rest of kit kept. It's an awesome car - replacing an A3 after 7 years. Right time!
Completly agree with you I have a 520bhp evo 8 and it's just to fast for the roads this is definitely a happy medium good review by the way 👍👍
I wish we as Americans would embrace hot hatches more, we never get the really good ones like this, count yourselves lucky across the pond! Cool video Queen B!

@Zero Expert Apart from you don't have a Golf R, and defiantly have no made any modifications to it.
Even so, the a35 just simply is better than the Golf R in all tests done.

Fun vid, although car looks plain in saloon spec, I've had 2 GTR's and they were epic! not sure what was up with the go pro brightness when filming in the car, check everything is set to auto in the menu as that should help some as think the white balance could be too high. cheers, Grant x

@@khuzram I thought as much, my experience has taught me that most of the press cars are highly spec'd it's only when you read through the bumf that you see the real cost of the car, & no one does "optional extras" like the Germans. Surely at 40k the RS3 is a better alternative ?
A45 will be 55k - ludicrous
Everything you say is spot on.. Especially the nav part.. I always miss the turn in 200m. 😆
Shows me how old i am... I am not a fan of the spoiler, and i remember when video games tried to imitate the instruments of cars. Nowadays with the "virtual instrument clusters" aka displays it sadly seems the other way around.
Nice colour combination , like the grey with the black wheels and spoiler .

I'm pretty sure they deliberately made the A35 look subtle so that the upcoming A45 looks even better. It's not the top end model after all.
But its much more expensive.

I had the previous FL AMG A45 and i personally think they look better but the new interior is an amazing improvement ... not sure the cost of the A35 or new A45/A45s is going to be justifiable ... you can pick up a decent F80 M3 or R35 GT-R for similar or less ... if i win the lottery then i would have one lmao ... really like the review and content :)
A45 will be 55k - utter madness
@@johnmarshall673 - i spent an extra £5k on optional extras and the total cost of my AMG A45 was £45k ... that was back in 2015 ... £55k could buy you an RS3 and a decent 6.2ltr V8 C63 lol
You cannot mess with the Mercedes interior..... The best out there

Ive got a A220d AMG Line with adaptive suspension, performance pack, and BRABUS D2 tuning. Ive been thinking about getting the A35, but i just know if i did i would then be kicking myself as to why i didnt get the A45. So my next car will be a 2016 A45 with Aero. I think the W176 is just a more sporty car and the interior is nicer than the new W177. Which yes clearly has more tech, but its not such a nice place to be.

Hmmmmmmm. Not sure if this was actually a car review or a commercial for Merc. It Could also have been a travel Scotland commercial for a rental car company too. It was well put together, the editing that is. 2 things I've learned from this movie: If you want a thorough review of the car at hand, watch Demuro. And, buy the Golf GTI.

The interior is great. But you can spec it to be a lot more paired back. Everything feels quality though I can assure.

Great vid, I sort of agree with Chris, if this is the toned down one don’t bother with the spoiler! Is it a double clutch MCT? How does it compare to ZF 8 speed Auto? Interesting they kept that when going other manufacturers are reverting back to auto, maybe suits the engine. It’s getting frustrating that there’s not many manual cars left now, this is where manufacturers
need to listen now. Yes they are old fashioned but simply more fun.
No one buys manuals manufacturers know what they are doing
SenszR you’re right they will know what the market demands. Must be the people buying them that need their heads checking. Pulling a PlayStation button isn’t as fun as using a clutch, gear stick heel and toe, even though it is faster.

im surprised you didnt comment on how cheap the stuck on tablet style looks, as good as German cars, they have a nasty habit of just chucking these stupid cheap looking infotainment screens on now rather than integrating them. you didnt comment on the HUD's either? now the size of the alloys? or the specs on the tyres, be good to know considering you said it was good for grip?
I personally don’t mind the infotainment set up! It’s all integrated into the dash face, looks pretty slick!

Love the car....just that rear wing hmm I don't feel good about it and makes the car look taller and ruins the stance of it, and I'm 23 years young and I don't like all cars with overdone designs from factory .
The rear wing is optional, so it's good if you don't like it because you can pay less. :-)

Awful review and not factual. Its not out of the box, this car has the aero pack on it for starters e.g. spoiler different air intakes etc.
Hi Russell, you have a different take on what ‘out the box’ means than most in the industry. It is in reference to direct from manufacturer and not after market. Hope this clears up your issue hun.

Agreed, i have worked in the industry for 17 years also. Yes the aero pack is direct from manufacturer but it is an option. If you purchased a standard A35 it wouldn't come with this option. Was a a bit harsh on the "Awful" comment I retract that. All the best.
