- without doubt, hack & slash is one of fav genre in video games(and gladly, there are not many games in this genre, unless this video must have been 1 hour)
so today, we are going to cover all hack and slash games,from bad to good(of course we are not gonna mention disasters) and only one game per series,(if i left some games, make comment in comment section)
and of course, since sometimes, hack and slash combined with rpg or action adventures, we are bound to mention some games that are not focused hack and slash, but we mostly look at games, which has combo chains, and are fast paced close combat

I was surprised that drakengard 3 was there.
i mean, why not,(sure i get it, people never even played) but as someone that played both Nier series and Drakengard Series, if i believe that "Nier Automata" 's Combat gameplay is WOO, Drakengard 3 is also WOOO(just might be a little below Nier automta), sure automta has many mini games, open world, air combat, so many thing to complete it, but this video is based on combat alone, so in that case Drakengard 3 and Nier Automata is pretty much almost in same league(at least based on my tasted)...(also , yeah air combat and dragon riding in drakengard 3 was not so much fun, but as i said, this video is only about hack and slash combat, so we can delete that aspect of drakengard 3)
Great choice with Darksiders 1 specifically, I personally liked it a lot more than 2

well some of them , i didn't play at time of creating this video( and some of them i currently played them) i didn't check much of God hand gameplay, but thanks for sayin that, i make sure to check game, maybe adding a comment notification in this video later on for notice
action games with clearly defined subgenres? nahhh
Highly Recommend Ys 8 if you liked 9. Even faster paced.
yeah YS Series is underrated, i didn't manage to check on all of them, but i recommend everyone to test at least one of these games
The YS series is a goated action RPG franchise, imo. But if anyone wants to know some underrated turned based RPGs, Legend of Legaia and Legend of Dragoon are criminally underrated.
Based on the mechanic i would agree. Otherwise Nier Automata is the most GOATed game on this list. (Yes even DmCV would be 2nd place)
Almost 7 years ago, i played Nier Automata at time of release, it was magnificent experience , it was my first yoko taro game, so it is precious , but let's be real, this is a contest ONLY Gameplay(and only hack and slash gameplay) so no mini game, no sound track , no story mode (and no graphic for some other titles in this list) only pure combat of hack and slash gameplay,(when it comes to core gameplay, nier automata is WOOO, But it is not something i call peak of hack and slash, or even comparable to some of other high level games by platinum games, so yeah that place is ok for it
(but if i wanted to make this list based on everything to offer, i think it would become so much hard to have common argument, since some people might like a deep story , some people might not , some people might like mini games, and open world, some people might not and ........... in my case, i liked jap games, i liked mini games and open world was not forced to explore, but it was very nicely explorable, top notch story, intersting visual novels, music was awesome and vary, and gameplay was very good,......but if someone with only gameplay comes to game, might get disopointed ,since it is no devil may cry, and it is not even close , automata is not even close to those high level games, but satisfying nonetheless)
@baziworld i agree. That's why i wrote in the boundaries of the gameplay mechanic only. While i do find DmC to be a lot more enjoyable when it comes to hack and slash, its story is what keeps it away from me. I like it very much, don't get me wrong, it's just not as deep as a NieR Series game is imo. Nonetheless, i love both games
DMC Is king of hack and slash, (as i shown GOAT) Other titles just get close to it, not even surpassing it(i am not talking about fanbase, if that was case GOW Fanbase is pretty big, but we are talking about gameplay alone), but there is no doubt, in this list NieR series has best story(and with a little argument music to offer: the only compete in music is, DMC again, but i am gonna give it to Nier on this one...bayonetta,metal gear rising,gow ,.... non of them can even come close to nier and dmc)(although i know it is obvious, but Drakengard 3 has pretty good story too(because same director yoko taro),but nier takes it again because , his story was more like art where every aspect of game trying to tell a story, while drakengard narration is exellent too, but it doesn't utilize every aspect of game for story telling like nier automta, also in drakengard 3 for underestanding so many aspect of story you need read manga and novels to understand better)....but after these two, i think alice madness return and crystar,scarlet nexus and odin sphere are games with good stories to offer(sadly hack and slash genre while having great gameplay, mostly lacks story element , or more like, deep story element)
