Unimogs are my favorite truck to build. I made an FCX Mogrich back in the day. The performance and scale are fun on the trails/rocks.
I love the Unimog, was a common sight in my country when i was a kid. Although after getting into some more performance oriented SCX24 builds i have no use for it. Had it in the shopping cart but then i though no, just another thing taking up space and collecting dust. A lexan Unimog body in 1/24 might be nice.
i'm ordering the green one, gonna throw some brass parts on it and some nice injora tires and i think this thing will be a scale beast
Hey man I agree with you on the plain grey I felt the same. Put some black/silver wheels with nice tires and it will change the look enough to keep it stock paint. I do plan on doing some paint at least on the bench and the bed to really make it pop. I really like it overall, it’s just never going to be a crazy performer with the cab.
Looks amazing 😮
I wasn't sure how to feel about it but I do think it's a pretty cool option!
I think it would be really neat for a little adventure run, it definitely has the look.
The more (quality) options the better!
And the less Enduro 24 options the better haha
Tyres look fantastic, old school tractor /land rover tyres and wheels ,very cool 😎
Thanks for the review! Looks like a cool truck to me, even if the performance isn't great. Not sure if I commented on your videos before, but this has HDR and it is extremely bright. It's not wrong necessarily, but it is much brighter than videos (including HDR) normally are. It's something that can be adjusted in video editing software. It actually looks kind of good, but most people normalize the brightness in post production. I'd dial it back a bit while still leaving it brighter than SDR video. Looks very good though.
I that this (and the K5) are really mini scale/trail trucks. Sure, they can be made to pull some lines but thats not what they are about. I mainly use my K5 as a mini trail rig and it does wonderful at that. Its not a line slayer and wasnt meant to be. I dont think thats the intention of this truck either. I do think that some detailing on the body would really make it pop.
I love the yellow tinge of the headlights, it feels old in a good way...I also hate the giant orange lights on top lol.
It would look good with the rear axle clocked .
Pretty cool truck but I think il be passing on this one, they are coming out with so much stuff which is nice. I’m mostly about performance but recently I did drive one of my scale trucks and it’s interesting how sometimes it can be more fun with a truck that is less capable to really pick your lines.
I’m the same. Always liked a mix of performance and looks. I find myself really enjoying the scale trucks though at times.
I'd love to peek into the minds of FMS's designers. The FCX18 having the controller with toggle switches but this doesn't. That same screw and honestly the whole design limiting the steering for so many trucks. Making the most boring Unimog imaginable on a platform that doesn't lend itself to towing or hauling. It's all so bizarre.
Their minds are just about $$$ now. Don't waste your time peering.Lol😅
put on wagon wheels and swamp kings and see what it does...
It is 1/24th scale, a unimog is closer in size to a GM 2.5 ton cargo truck than a light pick up truck. So it makes sense it would be larger than 1/24th light pick up model.😂😂
Guess so. I don’t really pay much attention to it lol
Hey Matt, I think that grey is pretty bland also, BUT did you see the camper fair rc did? That looked pretty dang cool ... But I'm sure it's top heavy as 💩 again.. looks badass
FMS knows how to create nice new rigs with existing chassis and bodies. After the FCX18, re-using their Toyota LC80 body, here is their Mogrich Body on a FCX24 chassis.🙄
And it works very well, i will order the same grey one. Not because i like the color (i hate grey), but good start for a paint job. This Unimog suits perfectly on this well known chassis.😍
Now, a game : who will guess which known FMS body will wear the same FCX24 frame on their next new rig ? 😄
I'm guessing the newer body Toyota fj
Are fcx18 link sets a drop-in option for the Fcx24 to stretch them?
Im having an issue of the truck working intermittently, if i keep using controls on the truck every 5 or 6 seconds it will work for about 2 seconds then stop again for another 5 or 6 seconds. Totally random. Cant figure it out. I unplugged the servo and it worked the first time i tested but then went back to intermittently working. Also tryed unplugging the shift servo and doesnt work.
I feel like if you got like the little more scale stuff like the farm the tractor stuff like that this would fit in perfect I feel like a lot of people will turn to this as far as doing videos such as like hole in wood or whatever you know I do not feel like it's meant to be a rock climber at all maybe if you're able to stretch it out and slam it down put some weight under it yeah
if its not 24th, and closer to 18th, what scale is the utb18? as there is no agreement amongst makers as to an actual scale. its like women's clothing sizes are not even close to the same across all makers.
If the 24th and 18th had a lot more swappable body parts, separating the beds (love that bed!) from the cabs for example, their line would elevate in value much more.
We all need to gripe more about that remote.. should be the one the fcx18 is using now across their entire line.
Yeah scale in RC is a very loose thing. The Traxxas trx4m defender is pretty close to 1/18 in L/W/H. So I base eveything around that. This falls somewhere between 1/18 and 1/16. The UTB18 is one of the biggest offenders. It’s like a 1/14 scale.
As for the remote I wholeheartedly agree. I could understand initially that it might have been a parts shortage during the worldwide shutdown, but now Furitek, and hobbyplus are selling trucks with the superior remote. I dunno why the fcx24 doesn’t come with it. Maybe it’s a cost cuttting thing to keep it in the $150 price range.
Looks like it does what the full size can do . Scale beauty .
Naw. The full scale would not tumble end over end going down a slope. And carrying a load & towing are probably beyond this FMS rig. All reasons i pit this on the ‘dodged a bullet’ list, where i wanted one, but not now.
I love your video's man but it look's just like a Unimog I'm mean go look up what a 1966 421 Unimog look's like it's a nice model now does it perform like the scx24 hell no look how much higher it is lol....
That is definitely a 1:18.
It's another good option for scale but I won't be purchasing. Maybe the black fair rc mod. But axial (for a giant company) is just so outdated and needs almost everything replaced to become a good crawler.
With FMS and the smaller newer manufacturers, they just keep innovation at the forefront. And as always great video. Especially the roll over at the end lol.
Yeah as much as I love unimogs I’m gonna pass until the fairRC mod comes out. I’m waiting for the fcx18 k10 as well.
They’re cool, but not seeing mogs growing up or even in adult life, they don’t catch my eye like for example the power wagon or Traxxas’s Chevy and ford. I’d take one for 100 but not much more.
You in the US?
@@manuelpiston yep. Not common here.
ehhh fms is all over the place now and $$ and repurposing is priority just like the big T brand. Only difference is big T product support is many levels above fms customer service.
I’ve never had any luck with Traxxas either. Had an xmaxx esc go out after a couple short runs and they were willing to replace it if I sent the old one back and paid $150! At that point I’m buying a good Hobbywing system and ditching their trash esc anyway 😆
@@2fmrc Wow! ok bummer on them too lol. Had the original Revo 5309 back in early 2000's. At that time they were the best customer service support in RC,and they replaced my reverse gears for Free . Yea fms replied to my email a few months back. "Parts are to small to ship" .....just amazing I say. It was per a Vicki or whoever but I will NEVER buy another fms product! 😁
