Emma is literally as excited as a kid at Christmas. I'm glad we got one more Come With Me before the end of the year. I was already onboard with seeing it, but now even more so.
Eggers is a successor to Bergman and Tarkovsky.. feels great that one is a contemporary of an artist who will be remembered and studied as one of the very best in the ages to come..
Thanks so much for giving us another video right around Christmas time! Bill Skarsgard is such an interesting actor in the sense that he can be a leading man or the biggest freak on the set and he does it masterfully. I did not know we have the same Director as "Witch". That man is the go-to fellow for period pieces imo. Hope you have fun and be safe as this year ends, and I'll be looking forward to a whole new year of bangers from your channel! Big fan love out of the US!
The hype is real, y'all, I also went to an advance screening last week... It was truly one of the most captivating and visually exquisite film. I know we are horror lovers here but even those who are casual watchers in the genre, if they adore the art of film, this will satisfy it to a T. Going back to the theater once it's officially out for a second viewing. I haven't stopped thinking about it since those credits rolled, seriously.
cant wait omg, so glad Eggers is back to horror! you mentioning gore peaked my interest. i love The VVitch and The Lighthouse but theyre really tame in terms of gore. would u say Nosferatu is noticibly more graphic/violent?
I will never cease to be amazed how you can come out of a theatre and immediately give such articulate, well thought out, spoiler free review! I was psyched to see this film before, but now I cannot wait!
Omg thank you so much, this is so nice. I really don’t feel like I explain myself well at all, but after doing it for a decade I guess I have a few techniques to convey what others should expect ❤️ glad you find them helpful Patti
so good to hear all this! I work in the cinemas and I've had so many calls so people could pre-purchase tickets and many staff are just as excited to see it. I'm sure it's going to do very well when it is released next week.
Officially pumped to the point of danger. Just finished watching a crisp Blu-ray of the 95 minute version of the 1922 version. Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski are on deck. Thanks again Emma. By the way can you name a year in horror better than this one?
I may have missed a lot of stuff this year because I think it hasn't been particularly good for horror (or any genre). Do you have any particular standouts you can recommend from this year?
I am so excited to see this film! I am a huge fan of 20s silent movies and this remake is absolutely the ONE movie I want to watch! After Long Legs, my best movie of the year, I can't wait to be stunned again by this amazing arts genre
So happy for you that you got to see it before the end of the year. 😎🤘🔥 I'm so amped to see it when I'm not so busy. I gotta wait for the 26th or 27th when I'm not with family who is super Christian 😆😩
Omggg as a huge fan of both Eggers and beautiful cinematography I'm so excited for this!! Gotta wait until streaming though😭 So glad it was a great experience!!🧛
I was hoping to add this to my 2024 film list, but since I'm not going to be able to see it until January 1st when it widely releases here, I'm going to make it the start of my 2025 list. And by the sounds of it, that's one hell of a start!
I went to go see this movie yesterday. I didn't realise when looking it up the date showed next week. I was so pissed! I cried when I watched the trailer, like FINALLY a holiday film for me!
I can’t wait!! Especially since the hype is real. But also this got me thinking imagine if Eggars was in charge of Wuthering Heights… I know he would do wonders with it 😢
Been waiting 3 years for this. When it was announced Eggers planned on doing a remake of NOSFERATU I knew instantly it was going to be a MASTERPIECE. All reviews are raving. Eggers is a Genius. Probably the greatest filmmaker alive
10:52 What do you mean "They really chose the best director for this film."? Nosferatu '24 was made because Robert Eggers had been developing it for years, not because a studio or producer hired him.
I hope that Bill Skarsgard is good in this as Count Orloc. I know a lot of people didn’t like his depiction of Pennywise in it or Eric Draven in the crow 🐦⬛ .
This is one of those movies where I really pay attention to the few negative reviews that are out there, because it seems to have problems that are going to prevent me from enjoying it as much as I enjoyed other Eggers films. The "explanations" aspect for instance and the look of Orlok might be a turn off for me.
The film is all about the atmosphere, if you hate his other films you probably won’t like it. But it doesn’t have any “problems”, the look of nossy, is different but it doesn’t need to be explained at all. If anything it’s more true to reality than the other films
@spookyastronauts my favorite Eggers film is the witch, and it is the only one I watched in theaters. I plan to watch Nosferatu in theaters as well, so I will be able to compare both experiences
I was a bit sad when Eggers' muse Anya Taylor-Joy bowed out due to a scheduling conflict. But reading and listing to reactions such as Emma's, restores my faith that Lily-Rose Depp is great and holds her own. Can't wait for January 9th here in Denmark!
I really like the look of all the Eggers' movies, but all of them, so far, have left me either confused or unsatisfied. I really liked the Shadow of the Vampire, with Defoe as a supposed real-life vampire hired to act as the Nosferatu vampire in a sort of "making of" behind-the-scenes story of the making of the silent classic. But my favorite vampire movie was the 70s Nosferatu with Klaus Kinski as the titular Vampyre. As a boomer now, late in life, I don't frequent theaters anymore, but I will keep an eye out for this one on streaming. Perhaps the over-explanation will be just what I need from Eggers!
Do you think this will keep the attention of a more average moviegoer? I want to go see a movie with my aunt on Christmas but I’m scared she’ll be bored if it’s slow like The Vvitch and The Lighthouse.
How does it compare to Herzog's film? I love Murnau's and Herzog's Nosferatu films, so I was wondering how you would rank the three. Thank you so much, Emma! I am really looking forward to this film.
Embargo lifted world wide on the 4th, but they asked people to hold it until closer to the release date, which is why I sat on this for over a month . Check what you signed to see what date you can release yours.
I hope I'm wrong but I don't see this being better than Herzog's Nosferatu. Or Egger's own movie The Lighthouse, if we're gonna compare directorial feats. Hope I'm wrong tho
Your 2/10 award for originality I find bizarre! What do you expect from a remake? The story can't be original: you need to focus on other elements, such as Egger's film technique and stylistic choices. And, in fact, you did in your several references to the style and look of the film in the course of your review, which makes your assessment all the more odd!
Not everything has to be a 10/10 in every field and that’s totally okay. I’ve seen a lot of remakes that change the original completely but this one took a lot of the different versions and brought them together while making the focus on the performances and setting. When I talk about originally I’m talking about story, an original story… which it’s not. It’s a remake that merges the other versions. And that’s totally fine! I loved the film, but I’m not going to lie to give it a perfect score.
@@spookyastronauts I may not have put the point I was trying to make clearly (for which I apologise). The thing is this: Egger's movie is at least the 3rd version of the Nosferatu story, so, by definition, his version cannot be original! You know this even before you see the film...so, why would you score it on originality at all? Isn't it irrelevant?
I'm positive this will be great but enough period shit already. I really want to see Eggers do something different. Like do a modern drama or thriller or something. I know he's been trying to get this made for years but hopefully now, he'll break out into something different. I want him to have a David Fincher or Paul Thomas Anderson career instead of a Wes Anderson career. Style and flexibility.
Universally all the reviews I have seen seem so over the top that I’m a little concerned. I had never heard of this director so I went and watched the Northman and it was such a slow boring dull movie which I never completed. I hope this movie isn’t the same.
It's been a long time since I've had a horror boner but this film is giving me one. Especially after your review. I can't wait to see this one! Thanks for the review! Based on your picky nature in horror film the hype is real.
yea...this whole bill skarsgard craze is a bit beyond me...sure he played the clown but....nosferatu?...not sure...a classic movie needs a classic actor...anyway...we will see
Eggers has great attention to detail with period and design etc.
Bill's voice is incredible in this
Got my ticket for Christmas Day and I am SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

I’m already booked for Christmas night screening and your review is just making me more excited!!! I can’t wait 😭
I didn't know Willem Dafoe was in it. That's so funny that Willem Dafoe played Max Shreck in Shadow of the Vampire. What a coincidence.
We are going opening day, which is Christmas day here in CT. We are silly excited for this film. ♥️
Arghhhhh so excited for this! Have to wait til January but so pumped 😭💜

What ?! He’s a vamp?!
@@spookyastronauts Hate to break it to ya.
Hello Emma!! Would love to see a review of Joko Anwar's Grave Torture by you. I thought the movie was very fun
Waiting impatiently for Christmas for the USA release.
The original wasn't that mysterious to begin with so why make that a negative for the remake? I mean, look at Egger's source material.
