It's okay to take a break and come back for the expansion. That's pretty typical with MMOs. FF14 has record low numbers of players the month leading up to its most recent expansion, as an example.
But is it okay when game is bleeding players to delay something thats probably already patched into the game and been ready and translated in KR for months?
@@FRESHY_GG I feel like they need to get through server consolidations first, which is a massive ordeal. As someone in software development, I know that the worst thing you can do is try to implement two major changes at the same time.
You can argue that they waited too long for server consolidations and should have pulled the trigger in January instead of waiting for February, but they are on a committed path now. You can't just accelerate major system changes without breaking critical aspects of the software development lifecycle.
It's actually okay to have a lull in the player base as long as there is a plan to bring people back in. A lot of people stop playing MMOs during content droughts and return when new drops happen or when there is anticipation of new content.
Even just today I have seen people in my guild who have been on break since the holidays log back in to start prepping for Tier 2.
So do I think it's fine to have a drop in the player base? Sure, largely because it's inevitable. It may even be a good thing; the Lead Game Director of FF14, YoshiP, often encourages people to take a break from FF14 and go play other games, because he doesn't want them to get so burned out on his game that they never play again.

@@Josh-99 Great explanation! A lot of people don’t realize that when T2 comes out, there won’t be much to do since we’ve already caught up with the KR server with the upcoming Talandre global update. In KR, T2 was released gradually, but in global, they plan to release everything all at once.
Developers should start thinking about something atypical to attract new and old players.
I have already suggested that players have professions that would be needed for building and improving the guild fortress so that they could fight for it and thus more MMO content along with pvp. Because those professions could build catapults and other conquering and defensive machines, for example. (breed pets and monsters, etc. but I didn't write everything because it would probably make RUclips ...)
I also suggested that it would be possible to improve old items to the level of new ones, just to have more variety (it wouldn't hurt this game) and also so that the old content would still be needed for something.
I have more suggestions, but no one would read it anyway and I'm just lazy to write it somewhere, because I know that no one reads it.

I dont understand one thing. Why they add boss gears on t2 dungeons and all the places in the game. I mean we could have still play to get t1 gear right now. Why add them ??? They destroy action house. Why add transmutation ?????? BosS gears were at least 1k lucent. İt was playable. Now its 50 lucent. What s to point to log in ?????????????? I dont have a chance to buy arc boss gear. Nothing is worth selling . I DONT KNOW WHY THEY DO İT İF WE WAİT UNTİL MARCH ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Literally everything else coming is just more of the same content that we have now

I even think it is better for the tier 2 to be released by the end of March, but hey that's only for me. I've played the game since day 1 and after watching Kanon upgrading equipments from level 9-12 dang! I can't do that now I need to prepare more.

This is what is going to immediately scare off 90% of the returning player base. Since they didn’t keep playing and slogging through dailies/weeklies, they’re going to see they’re so far behind, there’s no chance of catching up unless maybe they swipe a bunch and even the. They’ll still be behind in materials. Big drop off once they realize it

Give us phase 1 t2 gear that's tied to the content we already have, how do they expect players to stick around for an entire month of no updates, why does AGS need to re-learn lessons from New World and Lost Ark

to be fair, the game came out in october? it's basically an expansion after 5 months which is very fast compared to most mmorpgs if not all mmorpgs. i think the biggest problem with the game is that since boss drops are dps based, most people grind full time to get get max gear or spend money for max gear and then they either have nothing else to do other than pvp and conflict bosses or are burned out after the full time grind. not to mention, if you are in a top guild aimed at sieging castles, you have to play the game like a second job. if they can find a balance with those aspects is the biggest problems.

Why "kinda underwhelming"? When Talandre released in KR they got only new map and new dungeons. We are getting Talandre with new map, new dungeons and all of the things KR was waiting for - Nebula Island, Artifacts, new masteries and a brand new content that is not released yet - solo dungeons. Not to mention T2 gear we should have already had atm. That's a HUGE update.

@@FRESHY_GG Well, Idk. It's a huge update, WoW-like expansion. Usually companies reveal the date that will let them market the new expansion and give players some time to get ready for the upcoming content. Early March release was an "optimistic and not gonna happen" scenario in my book :)

The worst part is the T2 grind, it’s just way too much prep and farming unless you swipe like 200-300$$. The returning playerbase will see how absolutely far behind they are compared to the few thousand players that kept grinding and farming or who are willing to swipe big $$. There will be another massive drop off in player count because of this.

The pvp aspect of the game is good, but they should not prioritize on only the pvp aspect they need to expand on the story, expand on every aspect of the game like any other mmorpg, I want to see them make dungeon bosses apart of the story in some way it's kind of a waste to just make a good looking boss and for it to just be there it would've been good to see the bosses we have now have quests and a story background before fighting them, I personally want to see more dungeon bosses out in the open world instead of just an instance, maybe have them spawn on a timer similar to eso and make them take much longer to kill, wherever their dungeon or lair is, for there to be group markers similar to how wizard101 does it where the bosses are out in the open world but there are 6 sigils and once all 6 players get on them it counts down for it to bring you into the dungeon or boss either the first one I mentioned is similar to eso how the bosses are out in the world but can take longer to kill all in all the game has tons of potential Im surprised we haven't even gotten mounts yet

@ajjames1960 im not saying the changes are bad, im just an AGS hater since lost ark. Their content scheduling killed the game way too early and they havent changed anything for TL regarding that.

@notakusa This game can't be a "main game" because of the token limitations. You log in, do daily chores in an 1-1,5h and then there is nothing to do besides waiting for an ingame PvP/PvE events.
The people who manage the game, doing a horrible job. Started good but left in the dust at the end.

@robmurray5453 Afaik - solo dungeons will be totally different type of content, not related to regular dungeons at all. Some kind of a "Secret Dungeons".

@demianpelos Eternal grind? There is literally no grind in this game at all - you are gettin everything super quick and all of your activities are limited by the daily tokens. What this game needs is a fun, unlimited grind (longtime goal) it is lacking.
@NaibFedaykin been playing since the beginning, done 10 contracts per day 5 dungeon per day, finish all my tokens and still javen lvl all all my skills of 2 weapons. Game leave no room to experiment builds. Every thing cost so much resources, like changing a trait for other. You might have been lucky, swiped the card etc... The game is not about you is about the community, and community didn't get that lucky, didn't like the contracts that is a job, every day the same to get 1% chance of a drop... Players left
Its not too late... for me its even too early. And you that says its too late. After one month of farming for t2 gear you will be done with that level of grind...

I recently transferred to one of the most populated EU servers, but it was too late... same issue there.
People are dropping off crazy fast.
